I just paid a lot of money for this game and I'd like to know what is so good about it and why it is constantly lauded over.
How can someone who didn't play it around its release hope to enjoy it?
Is it seen as canonical in the history/progression of video games/WRPGs?
I just paid a lot of money for this game and I'd like to know what is so good about it and why it is constantly lauded...
Get Deus Exe
>just paid a lot of money
lol
>paid a lot of money
In what fucking shithole do you live that 0,97eur is alot of money to you?
also, mod it and it plays just fine
>There are a multitude of approaches to every level
>Large amount of freedom with how you level your character
>Great story with a lot of interesting ideas
>Varied locations
>Great music
>Extremely memorable characters and dialogue
>Hong Kong
And yes, I would say it's also got a canon quality to it. It was extremely influential.
Not nostalgia blinded, played it last year.
I started off hopeful only to start loathing it 10-15 hours in and then started appreciating it for what it was around 25 hours in
deus ex is the kind of game that is extremely unforgiving and plain unfun for the most part for someone that doesnt already know the game. its not a shooter, its an RPG with heavy stealth mechanics whose main gimmick is to complete levels in X way, but to take advantage of that gimmick you need to actually know what the level is like, where youre eventually going to end up and what route is actually designed to take advantage of your playstyle. fumbling through the game blind is almost guaranteed to not be a fun experience for the most part especially if you just want to use responsive combat mechanics
I can guarantee you that youll feel slightly better towards the game the second you let go of the notion of it being an FPS and just look at it like a morrowind styled RPG interface. While the combat isnt exactly turn based, its certainly built around stats and feats like sniper shots that you upgrade your gun with to be able to actually aim and crit heads properly
Maybe you'd try to eat meat and drink real milk to understand this world you clueless soychild with stupid thread.
i disagree entirely with your second paragraph
>'play your way' games like dishonored are praised for having tons of gameplay options and ways to solve a level
>dude sex did it 17 years ago
>game did thing before
>thing is now no longer good
wut
Classic PC gamers are objectively the worst fanbase.
what kind of nonsense world have we reached that drinking milk is an emblem of masculinity
>mod it and it plays just fine
no mods make this game better than it is originally you tasteless millenial
Insecure internet faggots. Which ironically are the least masculine males out there.
Idiom: Blood with milk.
I'm sorry the poor fat Muritard burgereaters not allowed to know such things.
see>>knocks america for not being cultured
>> using the fucking word "soyboy"
In relation to the thread, dues ex is a solid game with a bit of a learning curve. partly towards getting a feel for the levels, partly cause of the busted interface.
Because gaming went through a 10 year period where devs forgot how to do this.
The internet is now filled with stupid conspiracy theories, like soy reducing testosterone even though there's literally no evidence to prove it does.
Which I guess is fitting for a Deus Ex thread
>I just paid a lot of money for this game
Where the fuck are you shopping?
>paid a lot of money
Are you a fucking time traveler?
Play the original with the Kentie modern graphics fix (Deus Exe), and then after you've done that, play it again with GMDX
Remember that it is rpg and shooting\stealth wont be satisfying unless you upgrade your skills and augs.
seriously are you even sure you played it? maybe someone sold you malware.
I played it last year for the first time and it's one of my favourites
...
Wile the game does hold up, in my experience, it's mostly a "you had to play it in it's day" type of thing. It came at the right time, in the right gaming and world political environment. It contrasted incredibly well with the FPS games people were used to at the time.
You can absolutely enjoy it if you play it today, i played it in 2009 for the first time, but what turned in to this legendary game is simply lost to time and can't really be replicated. Games with this type of status are products of the zeitgeist of the time.
Congratulations, you've been memed on by Sup Forums, as usual. Planeshit, DudeSex, New Shitgas and obsishit in general, Shitcher, etc are all fucking garbage contrarians here pretend to like to feel better about themselves.
gmdx you dumb nigger.
