it's an additional game mode. It'll be tied to the Paladins client. I think your cards will not affect the Battlegrounds gameplay. You will get a selection of random champions every time you start BG mode. New players will get a selection of 4 free champ while players who've unlocked more champs can pick up to 8 champs(randomly provided).

I am no fan of Paladins. But I will say that the whole Battlegrounds concept is probably far more suited for a "Hero Shooter" type game.

Its going to be a mess. I think a major part of the BR genre is variance and the progression from looting. When you play the same hero or from a pool of heroes every match, and there is nothing/barely anything to do but kill others, it will just be the same shit over and over with no variation.

The Culling was a good example of one way to take BR games without TONS of looting small shit, it focused on melee combat, and it had perk loadouts. The problem was lag, desync and imbalance build of the week perks.

There was a major version update (1.26 -> 1.3) that basically introduced a ton of mediocre MMO-ish elements to the game.

Previously, it was a solid TPS with a neat class customization system and a small but dedicated player base.

But that wasn't good enough for HiRez; they wanted to cash in on the MMO crowd (which, admittedly, was a lucrative market at the time).

So now every update for 1.3 and beyond is catered to MMO children and is mostly PvE content.

Game now bleeds players because it is a mediocre MMO which doesn't retain people and there is little development on the PvP/AvA (agency -- think guild / clan) side.

Game predictably dies a slow and painful death as HiRez moves onto Smite and Tribes.

To add insult to injury, HiRez hints about Global Agenda 2 for years. That project eventually became Paladins because Erez is a fickle bastard chasing the latest trend (MOBAs) and Paladins turns out to be nothing like any GA fan expected.

Then they change Paladins again to chase the latest trend (Overwatch).

Now they're changing Paladins again to chase the latest trend (Battlegrounds).

Do you see a pattern here too?

How would this even fucking work, with heroes? It would be fucking broken as hell and only a few will be actually viable. Then you got shit like Skye who can remain invisible almost permanently with the right build and hide all game.

Considering Battlefield 1 is slowly losing playerbase, that game getting a new mode that only needs 1 big map would probably be enough to rejuvenate the game.

Someone said its only for groups, and every person is given 2 randoms choices for every class. That would also seem like total bullshit, you could just lose because of a bad roll.
