Who's gonna play? Also roguelike thread.

Brogue is a nice comfy roguelike for a casual like me

the only good change is wands stacking

>do you wish you had a real challenge
unironically no cause I arleady couldn't beat DCSS

You can do it,just believe in urself

Well I played meele humans which probably wasn't the best choice for a person new to roguelikes

Minotaur,Ghoul,Troll and Gargoyle are the best melee races,Humans are probably the best melee+magic race.

no one other than /rlg/ have the slightest clue how to even do that challenge. and they don't even the best roguelike, elona+, thats /jp/

I never actually got using the magic part since you get hungry from it and I always had troubles with getting enough food.

Minotaur Fighter of Okawaru is probably the easiest way to learn the game.

Humans flat apts are pretty bad. Hybrids tend to want good apts to make up for having to spread exp all over the place. Merfolk, draconians, tengu, and gnolls tend to be better hybrid races.

>Elona
>when its not even the best japanese roguelike

Do people even play elona+ with perma death?
also fuck act 2 boss still stuck on it
I can't not play humans though as I am a self-insert fag.
>not even original one way heroics
Mystery Chronicle was shit

Chop bodies anytime you can, they also added autobutchering when you are hungry some updates ago, also train speelcasting to reduce spell hunger.

I personally choose not to because the ambushes can insta you. I also once saw a boss tunnel through walls and insta'd everyone in my party except me because I can teleport at will.

So what are humans good for?

>DCSS
>a roguelike

Daily reminder that Binding of Isaac shares more in common with the Berlin interpretation than DCSS does. It's a crawl-like.

>It's a crawl-like.

Most races are a mix of strengths and weaknesses with the strong races (Minotaur) being mostly strengths and the weak races (Felid) being mostly weaknesses.

While Humans' lack of a major strength puts them at a disadvantage compared to more specialized races, they also don't have any major weaknesses. They can use pretty much anything the dungeon spawns, although some of it may require a significant amount of experience. Many players (myself included) find them somewhat boring compared to other races.

I like hill orc with okawaru/makhleb you get +3 invocation and axes aptitudes

Humans also get more xp

Bump

>Have the original One Way Heroics
>No idea they made another one
>See this

Woah wait what in the fuck? Why are there Danganronpa characters in this?

Spike Chunsoft made both games

Minotaur is literally made for Trog since they have terrible magic attitudes

Yeah, although I think Trog is over-recommended to new players. You can pull of crazy shit with berserk (and battle brothers is criminally underrated) but you need to have a good grasp of when to use it, and it loses some effectiveness lategame. A poorly timed berserk can leave you more vulnerable than not berserking at all.

Oka us much simpler for a new player. After a point you can use heroism before every fight and finesse before almost every fight. It's not quite as powerful as berserk but there's much less room for screwing yourself over. God gifts also do a lot to smooth out floorgod and ensure you have something good for every slot.

Bump

The problem that new players have is that they overuse Berserk and will eventually get killed because they don't realize that past-berserk slow is one of the worst debuffs you can have.

>you'll never be this fast

My first and only victory was a 5-rune CeHu and that took me 8 hours.
