They dont have the money to do so.

They've made three since the GC

>normal console also has poor sales and weakest library
"B-but it didnt have a weak library!!" t. 1996

It's clear they're much better with handhelds, and their home consoles were only good when they had a literal developer monopoly anyway. The Switch is the only way I can picture them being successful in the mainstream.

Nigga Nintendo has so much banked money that they could have like 10 flopped consoles in a row and not have it dent them much.

After the Switch I certainly hope not. Switch is perfect Nintendo a handheld that doubles as a console they just need to stick with that and just focus on adding more power.

Aint the Switch normal enough for you?

Based Kyoto accounting

motion control wands and tablets aren't standard issue console peripherals, or "normal" in OP's words.

Dude, you have no idea how much their philosophy has saved them in the long run. I mean they made a fucking money on the Wii U and the Switch is selling gangbusters for a profit.
It's not that they can't make a powerful console it's just that it's an utter waste and bad business to waste your money like that.

the Gamecube was so based

Will Sup Forums ever NOT be butthurt about Nintendo?

You're on a board that hate Steam, GoG, Microsoft and especially Nintendo.
What do you think.

>gameCUBE
>isn't cubular until you add the gameboy player
Turns out the last great Nintendo home console was also a handheld if you had a Gameboy. The Switch just skipped those separate purchases that completed the experience and built them directly into the home console.

Gamecube was awesome. Little discs, quick loading screens and graphics better than the PS2. What's not to love?

Lack of games

>There are people on Sup Forums who think the Wii/Wii U has a better game library than the gamecube

I'm legit mad

Not to mention best exclusives and best controller and came in fun colors.

Plus it had a handle. It was always meant to be a portable home console.

>and graphics better than the PS2

Actually frequently the GC would end up as the worst system out of PS2, XBOX, and GC in many multiplat tests with PS2 in second and the XBOX way out in first. Games made specifically for the system were fantastic but unfortuently there just wasn't enough of them to compete with the XBOX multiplat king and the PS2 only library.

I still love my GC though.

Gamecube is a subset of Wii.

.
. .Wii>Gamecube

>gamecube
>normal
have you forgotten the retarded disk size just for the sake of making it compact? Nintendo's last normal console was the snes

What?
Most multiplats had to be downgraded to even run on the PS2 what are you talking about?

>nintendo makes a normal console
>"haha who's gonna buy this bing bing wahoo machine xDDD *buys ps5 because it's a mature console from a mature brand with mature games for mature gamers like me*"
>gets no third party games, let alone exclusives, because it's a bing bing wahoo machine - it's just cheaper to go for the market leader
>has nothing to attract any audiences but the most diehard nintendo fans, just another xbone on the market
>flops
you tell me

Wii U had good games on its own including GC remasters and also full compatibility with wii, which itself had GC remasters. It’s not even debatable

You didn't buy the N64 or Gamecube, so no.

Nintendo has literally NEVER had a “normal” console. Every one has had a gimmick:
>NES: 8bit graphics
>SNES: Mode 7
>N64: 3D
>GCN: LAN
>Wii: Motion Controls
>WiiU: tablet controller
>Switch: removable controllers

>most popular company on the board
>hated
How's that victim complex treating you guys
Wii you can make a case for if you prefer niche titles over flagship franchises, Wii U is just delusional though.

Also the handle and the retarded color that made everyone call it a lunch box

>They dont have the money to do so.
LMAO do you even know anything? They're richer than Sony. And not talking about PlayStation. I'm talking SONY CORP - a multifaceted mega conglomerate with numerous business arms including electronics, music (owning Michael Jackson and The Beatles), movies (owning franchises like Spider-Man and James Bond), video games and finance.

Nintendo are fucking LOADED.

>>most popular company on the board
That would be Sony. Everyone else gets regular shitposting.

The cube may have been a financial success but it was a failure for sales being one of their lowest selling, and the n64 only really sold well in the states, in japan it was beat out by the sega saturn of all things.

Now look at the wii, 100+ million sales, and the switch is selling like a monster.

No, they're never going back to the old style again.
I love my switch anyway, the home/portable hybrid idea is perfect and much needed, and since it's so successful you can bet your ass they're going to incorporate this in to every single future nintendo console, and I don't want them not to.

>normal console
This needs to die. This and the TV.

>3D 2 years after the PS1 is a gimmick
>A LAN adapter that nothing ever used and also built into the three other consoles of the generation is a gimmick

The wii has a lot of hidden gems an small games. It have a half life to the "middle of the road industry" (i.e. not indie but not AAA)
The Wii U is pretty bad

judging by how badly this thing did, no

the gamecube objectively has the best game library of all time

I'd disagree about "frequently" but there are a decent number PS2 games that peformed worse on the Gamecube or weren't able to be ported to the Gamecube. The two consoles have different strengths and weaknesses, neither is outright stronger than the other.

Holy shit end yourself you fucking faggot.

Traditional consoles are dead. These days they're nothing but budget range PC-rigs in a box. The days of unique console hardware is a thing of the past.

Nintendo are the only ones actually making relevant hardware anymore and the Switch is about as close to a traditional console as you're ever likely to see from them. What exactly do you think a high end 250 gorillian terrafuck console would bring to the table in 2018?

Why wouldn't it be the N64? Are you retarded?

It sold as much as the original xbox.
Why is the Cube a failure when people say the xbox was successful?

No.
l and r buttons
The port in the back of the controller
Mini discs
The rest are correct.

>have you forgotten the retarded disk size just for the sake of making it compact?
I actually think the gamecube discs were more about Nintendo having their proprietary media and could control licensing fees with 3rd partys easier. Nintendo will always jew.

It's not a failure if you're making a profit.
I think the Gamecube sold a little less than the Xbox, but Microsoft were burning through cash while Nintendo were consistently in the black all the way until the Wii U came out.

The fact that so many books still name the Beatles as "the greatest or most significant or most influential" rock band ever only tells you how far rock music still is from becoming a serious art. Jazz critics have long recognized that the greatest jazz musicians of all times are Duke Ellington and John Coltrane, who were not the most famous or richest or best sellers of their times, let alone of all times. Classical critics rank the highly controversial Beethoven over classical musicians who were highly popular in courts around Europe. Rock critics are still blinded by commercial success. The Beatles sold more than anyone else (not true, by the way), therefore they must have been the greatest. Jazz critics grow up listening to a lot of jazz music of the past, classical critics grow up listening to a lot of classical music of the past. Rock critics are often totally ignorant of the rock music of the past, they barely know the best sellers. No wonder they will think that the Beatles did anything worthy of being saved.

>but there are a decent number PS2 games that peformed worse on the Gamecube
There really aren't. The PS2 was literally the weakest console of that generation on top of being the hardest to develop for.

>all the way until the Wii U came out.
Which eventually earned them money mind you.

Noot him but the PS2 probably had one or two multiplats that performed better than the Xbox and GC versions solely because porting it was a last minute job. Other than that it was strictly inferior specs and development wise.
Which is why it killed a bunch of smaller developers.

If a retarded controller doesn't make a console not normal then the Wii and Wii U are normal consoles

Is that why Timesplitters 3 looks and performs better on the PS2 than the Gamecube? Is that why Burnout 3 was only released on the PS2 and Xbox, despite the Gamecube getting the previous games?

I wish the Switch was just a current gen Gamecube. I don't give a fuck about portability, the Switch is ill-suited for that anyway, too big and uncomfortable. At least gamewise it looks like Nintendo is on the ball for the future.

If you hack your Wii U then it has full gamecube compatibility as well. It's kind of dumb that they removed native support when it's based on the Wii so it can play them just fine.

Their last "normal console" sold like shit so no. They finally found a niche that works for them with the Switch.

You're right that many ports from the PS2 suffered because it was an afterthought (and because the PS2 was built so differently from other platforms) but there are certainly aspects of the PS2's hardware that outshone the Gamecube's, like the incredibly flexible and fast T&L unit and the extraordinary VRAM bandwidth and the sheer quantity of pixel pipelines to make use of it.
The Gamecube is definitely the easier console to get to grips with and in many cases can achieve better results, but for certain games and with enough talent and time the PS2 can do things the Gamecube cannot.

>Is that why Timesplitters 3 looks and performs better on the PS2 than the Gamecube?
But it doesn't. The PS2 version has worse textures and plays at a lower resolution than both the GC and Xbox versions. The Xbox and GC versions both have better lighting and colors too.

>Is that why Burnout 3 was only released on the PS2 and Xbox, despite the Gamecube getting the previous games?
Yeah that totally has nothing to do with the internal problems at Criterion at the time.

Y'know if the Switch wasn't selling like no fucking tomorrow it might be worth it to make a "normal" console
But, what do you know, we don't need 3 "normal" consoles on the market, 4 counting PC.
Turns out it's better to be able to offer a unique experience than a slightly more powerful console to play the new GTA on than your competitors

they were both failures

Xbox might be considered a success considering it was microsoft's first console and outsold industry heavyweight nintendo

But coming a distance second and third over 100m units behind PS2 is not a success

Success is solely determined by profit user.

The Gamecube version has a higher resolution and better textures because of its simpler memory architecture.
The PS2 version has higher framerate and better lighting because of its higher memory bandwidth and faster/more flexible T&L unit.
Each console has advantages. It's not a better/worse situation.

>The PS2 version has worse textures and plays at a lower resolution than both the GC and Xbox versions. The Xbox and GC versions both have better lighting and colors too.

That’s not what the comparison says.

>The GameCube version also offers 480p widescreen, but falters the most out of the three considering framerate; also there's some strange filtering going on that results in the "screen-door" effect on textures.

ign.com/articles/2005/03/29/timesplitters-future-perfect-head-to-head

>Yeah that totally has nothing to do with the internal problems at Criterion at the time.
And what internal problems would those be?

btfo

Nintendo fans are so retarded they would actually buy a pieces of bread if Nintendo told them they invented it. They would buy literal anything Nintendo makes. Just look at amiibos and Mario cereal. They are the fanboys of fanboys.

>Just look at amiibos and mario cereal
wtf
Amiibos aren't a bad deal, they're cheap decent quality officially licensed figures that add some unlockables to games
E Reader would've been a better thing to bring up
As for Mario cereal shit dude it's fucking cereal for kids. Are people now retards if they buy a fucking cereal?

Point proven

>Xbox might be considered a success considering it was microsoft's first console and outsold industry heavyweight nintendo
Nintendo made a profit on the GameCube.
The X-Box lost Microsoft about $10 BILLION.

Wonder how much he was payed to say that. Every multiplat looked and ran better on GC than PS2, but of course xbox outperformed them both.

i cant believe you sonnigger still spout this bullshit about a 18 yera old console

*high fives* haha bro he really walked right into that one. fucking gnarly.

Purple monstrosity. Ridiculous alien looking controller. If that is "normal", then count me out. The Switch is superior in every way.

>Wonder how much he was payed to say that
woowwwww it's all a conspiracy against nintendo

it's not that maybe the gamecube was weaker

Sure, if you're a corporate cuck

Here on Sup Forums? Success is determined by sales.

They can't compete in that market.
That's why all of their consoles since the cube have gimmicks that appeal to children, because that is their demographic.

>nintendo
>normal
