>Just got one on black friday.

>buy one on the 29th
>get it from official site instead of amazon just so I could get the free audio strap on
>amazon would have gotten it to me a day earlier and I have prime
>was supposed to come yesterday but snowstorm
>now this shit

what the fuck

Now only 899 usd

Will be too expensive
Still hardly any content
Will be 4k and require three 1080s in SLI to run at 90fps

VR = dead meme

you fools needed to be patient

what

I just got scammed. Though to be honest if I really think about it would be retarded if they actually announce new hardware after they just did a sale after the holidays.

Yeah, I knew improved models are coming for both Oculus and Vive, possibly PSVR too.

I wonder if there will be a way to get credit towards a newer model by trading in an older one. I have a Rift CV1 and I feel like an upgrade would be cool.

>Getting VR
>Not waiting for the next revision
>Once that revision comes out, wait again for the next next revision

PSVR just added earbuds and 4k passthrough into the TV this year. No spec upgrade.

I think I'll wait several more years. I tried VR porn and it was outstanding, however I rather wait several years for a good VR headset for the same price.

>4k
Are the goyim really this stupid?

>not refunding while you still don't even have the product
In the land of the free you get 14 days to return anything you don't like, whether it works normally or not, you just don't have to go apeshit on the item for it to not appear used or atleast heavily used

I'll still buy the lighter and newer current first gen here soon. Fight me

I dont want a refund I just want my thing while also explaining that op is wrong that they are going to announce nushit

How does you buying a Vive explain OP is wrong?

About fucking time. 1st gen HMDs dragged on for way too long. Almost 2 full years without any news on 2nd gen when there is so much room to improve is ridiculous.

Now where the fuck are Valve's controllers and games

>he fell for the VR meme

you almost as cucked as nintodlers who have bough same game console 3 times: wii -> wii u -> snitch

>new headsets are coming out after both companies slashed prices to get rid of their old stock
If you didn't see this coming you're blind

your missing the part where they just had a sale last week alongside it just being Christmas. They wouldn't just announce a new revision unless they plan on doing trade ins.

>so much room to improve is ridiculous
i guess a better headstrap and maybe wider fov and a lighter hmd? what else can be improved? technology hasn't advanced enough to eliminate the screendoor effect which will still exist even at higher resolutions - and higher resolutions HMDs will require more powerful pcs to render anyway

literally nothing wrong with 1st gen

>VR = dead meme

wrong God Mack can't be wrong

youtube.com/watch?v=cTGs_tE0JTM

>buying the vive
Why tho? The Oculus exists

>he thinks capitalism and consumerism works like that

>same console 3 times
>same console
PS1, 2, 3, and 4 all wave hello cheerfully to you.

yea haha the whole EA loot box thing was just something I imagined

So what does this mean? Gen 2? Just better resolution?
Either way, thank fucking god I waited and didn't get baited by all of these streamers and youtube videos.

resell before the announcement, once new one is out no one will want the old one

The naivety is strong in this post. Yeah, they're clearing inventory numbnuts.

GLOVES

That post didn't mention a sale, only a bundle offer. Also,
>there's no way they would announce a new product after offering their old product for cheap
An announcement is also not a release. It will still be a while before a revision is available to buy.

>once new one is out no one will want the old one
lmfao. you aren't gonna get your initial money back but you'll still knock a lot off the cost of buying the new one. just look at graphics cards

>conductive gel that hardens and contracts to varying degrees in highly specific patterns emulates the pressure element of touch
very yes

>science fiction
wooo

what the fuck is this strawman argument even supposed to convey?

im hoping it'll convince you to go back to school, you can't go on like this

HTC is dying, better wait for that LG headset

wasn't Valve working on a VR set?

My money would go to them, or Nintendo for making the standard that will live for generations. Or maybe Illusion if they have one with the sex peripherals included in the bundle, because right now they're too fucking expensive.

>or Nintendo for making the standard that will live for generations

Wireless, better res and fov, form factor, better controllers, eye tracking etc
There's shitloads to be done, and personally I'd make form factor and wireless a top priority.

i'd much rather have foveated rendering than MOAR PIXELS

Valve's headset is the Vive, they partnered with HTC since they're not really built to develop hardware like HTC is.

Could be news on the Knuckle controllers as opposed to a Vive gen 2?

>Knuckle controllers price + date announced
>One of the 3 Valve games shown that takes advantage of them

>game crashes as you grasp something
>gel continues to harden and contract until all your fingers are pulled back at a 90 degree angle

Wireless might not even be possible.
If I could pin point one thing that makes VR "feel" realistic, it's the super accurate head tracking with no visible latency.
Wireless can't do that.

VR centers like The Void that need wireless wo work as intended actually pack an entire computer into a box you strap on your back.

>VR

Can't wait to buy the pricedropped Vive 1.

YOU CAN'T HURT ME JACK

>Wireless
seems to only be a concern if you're using full roomscale. i dont particularly like the idea of carrying a battery pack around and the latency will be undesirable.

Or just have multiple failsafes to prevent that.
You know you could use that logic to claim all our PCs will explode when Windows bluescreens, right?

>Buy vive
>Hundred + hours with it just by myself
>Anoher hundred hours for family trying out VR stuff or the nieces and nephews playing VR games when they visit
>Consider it a pretty solid purchase
>Everybody shits on VR
>Fucking VR chat becomes one of the most popular streamer bait games
>Suddenly everybody wants to talk about VR again

Kill yourselves.

>Wireless might not even be possible.
It is already done with TPcast

No they're not. They have valve backing them up with the vive anyway.

Okay Mr. Serious

While I'm not an expert on wireless signals on hardware, wireless stuff has been getting so good that it's almost the same as using a wired signal on some products. For example my current mouse has a wireless mode that's just as good as using the wired mode, and I used to think that I would never use a wireless mouse to play games. I'm not sure how different wireless would be on a VR-headset, but I would believe it's not that much different than wireless headphones, just more data to transmit.

If it has even remotely acceptable head tracking latency I will eat the plastic on the rim of my PSVR.

still a gimmick don't kid yourself.

>have to strap battery pack to you, plus more wires and inconsistent latency
woohoo totally worth it

I don't think it's a gimmick but I think that it has no REAL games, like, full fucking games.

About the only VR game worth playing for over an hour is Onward, which is just VR counterstrike. There's basically nothing else that you can play for more than an hour.

Fallout 4 VR? Notoriously runs like trash even on 1080s, and it's just Fallout 4 with wonky VR control for a full $60.

It's a lot different for a few reasons.

Additional input delay on a mouse is not nearly as noticeable, a large difference can throw you off but minute differences are hard to spot.
Minute differences on a VR headset will give you motion sickness.

Additionally, your wireless mouse is sending input signals over wireless to a computer which then sends a video signal over a wired connection.
Any input delay caused by wireless is doubled at least on a HMD because information is going both ways.

>wireless technology requires batteries
woooooooooooow

I agree, pocketing a small battery is so damn hard and inconvenient.

>more wires
???

If a small chinese startup can do this, big names and big money can do better. It's wireless video transmitted over a short range, not rocket science.

VR titles are usually less demanding so that more people can run them. A single gtx 1070 would be sufficient

Runs well on 1080ti, i7 7700k OC at 4.6ghz

Anything less than that and you got problems. Don’t even think about mods

>tfw bought oculus and 1070 for black friday when i should've been putting it into cryptocurrency instead
RRRRRRRRRRRREEEEEEEE

I WANT 4K VIVE 2!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Nice, that's what I've been waiting for. Got rid of my Vive, because the resolution was too bad. Now I have a 8700k and 1080Ti, so I'm all set for high resolution disappointment.

Sounds pathetic. Inferior to DK1.
Who wants to buy PSVR? What a fool.

>not buying gold

People act like VR has super massive requirements when in reality it's based more on the game than the platform.

I'm not touching VR until they have 4k 90hz, because current models are pathetically low res considering how close they are to your face.
