Yeah, at least Aoi had relevance in Case 4, even if she wasn't particularly smart. However, it feels more like Aoi seriously recognizes that she wasn't much good at investigating, whereas Akane never really, and just talked about fighting and food. Also her relationship with Nekomaru didn't feel as natural/interesting as Aoi's relation with Sakura.
