What's this?

fuck of faggot

I would assume it's a Bionicle game.

I always liked the Toa Metru more than the Toa Mata/Nuva.

Ice nigga was my favorite, I even had his golden mask.

isnt there a Skyrim mod in the works?

Matau was a slick fella

Tahu's right hand looks weird

I know not everyone likes platinum games
I just think mask swapping in an action game would be fucking sick

I only cared about the first "generation" of Bionicle. How many more sets did they release afterwards?

You're right, that's not the right hand piece.
In fact, it would be impossible to attach it like the OP pic, and you can even see it clipping through the arm.

Krika did nothing wrong

Tahu didn't have a right hand. He just had an arm with a slot for the sword on the end.

Nah, the original Tahu hada single piece as an arm. Tahu-Nuva was when he got that hand.

Bionicle is fucking shit and you only like it because of nostalgia

...

Right, I somehow forgot about that. Even though I have Tahu sitting on my shelf.

But user I like it for the lore.

You're absolutely right, I do love it for nostalgia because they don't fucking support it anymore...

Is the lore any good? I only collected them up to the Rhakshi, so I know the Toa, the Toa Nuva, Makuta, Takanuva, the Borok (plus the Borok with silver pieces), and the Rhakshi (who are the children of Makuta?), and then also the small versions of everyone who I assumed would be some sort of spiritual guides to the toas? Like Vakama to Tahu, etc.

Huh, I am surprised how much I remember.

Pham, you have like....no idea what you're getting yourself into, Lego went balls on the walls with the story regarding this series. It's fun to read about so give it a try if you want.

Yes.

Where can you read this shait?

It get stupid superpower fanfiction really fast but shit is nuts.

When was the last set released? Did they cancel the series?

>no posts on dev blog in 2017

2010 or 09 I think, then they gave it a short-lived reboot a while later. The only constraction theme currently out now is those ugly Star Wars ones.

the quest for the toa gba game is kind of fucking great

I remember playing with the first set and taking them apart and making one that looks like Cell from dbz.

Lore is overrated

Bionicle was best because it had cool, mysterious fantasy worlds populated by pretty neat characters. Of course, this element got progressively weaker as the series went on

No. It really isn't. It is a functional game, and that is almost the only good thing that can be said about it.

The one fun thing it does is that rubber grappling hook thingy, especially when later on you can create icicles to use it on, but that is about it. Everything else reaches from servicable to downright bad.

I only remember keeping up with the story up until when the Toa Ignika headed underwater. Didn't the books mostly stop after that?

He was a pessimist who still care about his kind

>fire, water, air, and earth
>and ice
>and, uhh, stone
I can understand ice, since each toa has their own geographical region, but why the hell would they make earth and stone two different toas ?

It's one of the best, if not the best, toy series of all time and has better lore and overarching plot than most videogames and anime.

So they can sell six toys instead of five

Stone is like mountains and sheeit while earth is dirt.

I would assume that earth focuses on below Matu Nui's surface, while stone focuses on the mountain (and maybe desert) regions. But even then, it is still a tad bit confusing.

It's like Rock and Ground from Poekmon. One involves physically chucking(or kicking) rocks, and the other one is Earth magic.

bionicle lore is actually nuts

So that they can have both an underground cave region and a desert region.

>ywn go to school and talk about bionicles with your friends anymore

the gba game was pretty cool

Which one? The one where you just walk around as an islander and throw bombs at bugs? It was pretty bad, play it again today and see for yourself.

i liked it when i was young
my experience was limited back them so you're probably right

this game was so fucking hard, I remember trying to beat it and failing hard

The later series still had that feel.

TAKUA

Which developer would make the best open world action RPG?

WHEN

This is muh waifu

There's like 9 complete copies of this game out there somewhere in the world

>you will never ever build your first bionicle again

enough with this meme, the beta test never took place

Is it wrong to think Bionicle CG actually aged pretty decently?
The atmosphere is too fucking good

I think the part most people tend to be stuck on is the desert region where you get the drill. There are two parts: one is the scorpion boss, which you have to "distract" with a bolder and then tackle from below the ground which is cryptic enough as is, but also has a rather tight window if I remember correctly, the other is a part where you have to drill through some barely visible dots in the ground to make some pillars collapse.
Otherwise the final boss was "hard" because it was basically an RNG-based racing section where one collision with a rock would kill you, but that's it.

I remember that there were some fun mini games along the way, like the crab riding thing that I would have loved to play against other people, but I don't think that was possible.

I remember one summer I was desperately trying to beat that game and this one, I think my aunt bought both of them for me

Holy hell, that is almost as bad as my aunt buying me ET for the GBA.

the scary thing was I distinctly remember actually enjoying playing both of them, I guess young me was a very forgiving boy

Mata nui is cooler. I like the tribal aesthetic with biomechanical beings better than the run down sci-fi city setting.

youtube.com/watch?v=bXmwQwHkqMs
Is there vidya music like this anywhere else? I swear this is really distinct and sounds like something I'd hear from the early 2000s only.

Bionicle has better lore than any video game

Anyone else remember that fucking point and click Bionicle flash game? I seem to remember that it was still hosted somewhere. Goddamn, that shit was atmospheric as fuck as a kid.

fuck you, kohlii head

I remember building this bitch back in the day, didn’t watch bionicle or follow any lore but I loved the designs. This thing was awesome.

In general, the setting, premise, and most major events are really cool.

However they form that it was generally presented in (the books, games, comics, movies, etc) were all pretty fucking cheesy&shit-tier. There are some exceptions, like Mata Nui Online Game. That was great.

>The idea behind Bionicle was inspired by the creator's battle with cancer
>The Toa were the pills he took, hence the capsule idea
>He was the gigantic body forming all the separate regions

That is a pretty fucking stupid inspiration.

the time for that is WAY long past

The movies and actual console games were bad, but the books, comics, online games and online serials were actually pretty good

Is lego even still popular with kids? I know the films were succesful, so I figured they are, but do these lego "franchises" like Bionicle, Roboriders, Slizers etc still exist or have some equivalent?

it's extremely popular, especially since the rise in tie in products like bat man, marvel and starwars

Oh, that makes sense. Though those were always a thing, especially Lego Star Wars and Lego Harry Potter.

yeah, I said rise because I remember they used to be just the occasional set here and there, and now it's like the main focus and the original sets are like backup now

Yes. I'd say lego is one of the FEW toys that won't get outdone by tablets since parents assume it's educational and tbqh it really is fun to build shit in different ways while adding your own modifications

>Lego Harry Potter
I remember when they started giving them flesh colored skin instead of yellow some years ago, is that still going on ?

oh shit, I didn't even realize they were no longer yellow

who here played the shitty ps2 game where everything was lasers.

>i need some prepackaged action figure because i have no creativity
bionicle was lego for retarded kids

IIRC that was only for the harry potter sets.

The whole point was that you can build it yourself and make your own, just like the blocks.

Also you're the retard if you think there was no overlap. I love both.

Reminder that Bionicles saved LEGO

Bionicle IS Lego. They are made by the same company and you can interconnect them...

>Not making a cockpit out of blocks and a minifigure and then giving it Bionicle limbs to form a mech

Ok. Get out of our special education room then you normie.

I never really kept tabs on Bionicle or its lore growing up but I always dug the dudes and thought the masks were neat. I remember one of the bad guys had like little baby plastic masks and I'd always pretend they were acting like facehuggers to the main characters and put them on.

fully open world explorable filled with lore secrets mata nui would be amazing. ability to swing from vines, lava surf and dive in water mountain climb. kick rocks like soccer balls and dig tunnels would be insane

Not really, it would have just been another boring city, only with chutes instead of flying cars.

I remember thinking this made up alphabet was the coolest shit. I felt like I'd found the goddamn rosetta stone when I saw some translation guide for it on a mcdonalds toy.

You were basically on point there user. Assuming you were talking about the round, ball shaped bad guys (Bohrok). The tiny plastic masks were the actual organism piloting the robotic bohrok shell, and could also act like facehuggers, incorperating the victim into the hive mind.

yeah those guys. If I was that close then maybe there was some lore dump on the toy's package or something that I just went along with. All I ever knew about the lore in general was some CD that came with one of them talked about a buncha rocks getting angry at each other.

Favorite Toa set?
Favorite villain set?

I wasn't the only one who liked combining the pieces of all of my Bionicles into one big guy right? After building them properly and messing around with them first of course.
>tfw no Bionicle MMO with high levels of customization

I remember the commercial had them shooting their masks onto the toas

Toa Nuva because that shit felt like Pokemon G/S to me, the perfect sequel (back then).

Bet villains are the borok because I could actually fight my little brother with them.

>those spinning shields
UNF!

There was some pretty cryptic shit in that game on top of trying to pull yourself around with that launcher and avoiding the hazards.
