SMT: Nocturne
Good luck user. Racing and RTS are overrated
>Character Action
MGR is a pretty good starting point
>RTS
Age of Empires 2 is timeless and should be relatively easy to pick up. The AI in HD is almost okay if you don't want to jump online to get murdered.
>Fighting
The overall barrier to entry is pretty big but if you want a proper tutorial, Skullgirls has one. Otherwise, you could get Street Fighter or Tekken, depending on whether you want 2d or 3d mechanics. Street Fighter might be a an easier starting point.
>Racing
I guess you don't have a wheel, so I'd go with something semi-arcadey like the Dirt series.

Crazy Taxi
As a fighting game player, i recommend you play SFV. Yes, it's bad (and AE won't solve anything) but it has easy combos, simple spacing and one of the lowest skill floors/cielings of any fighting game.
>Darksiders
It's a decent hack n' slash that's dirt cheap.
>KOTOR 1 & 2
Excellent games both
>Warhammer Total War 2
It's streamlined, simple enough at it's base, and arcady enough to not feel like a slog

God of War 1 and 2
DMC is great series but can be a bit hard if new to the genre

Pokemon, Dragon Quest, FF 7 or 9
SRPGs Final Fantasy Tactics, Disgaea, or Ogre Battle

Any of the Mario karts
Burnout or Dirt

Good taste. Don't forget restoration mods.

DMC3, or if thats too dated for you, Bayonetta or Metal Gear Rising: revengance. DMC4 is the peak of the genre, but playing the second half of the game (the bit where you play as Dante) is rough if its your first go
>Turn Based RPG
Shin megami tensei IV. Great intro to the franchise, and it has a great combat system. Very similar to pokemon, but more mature themes, characters, and better combat.
If you want something that will be a great foundation for other games, Final Fantasy V. Great introduction to JRPG mechanics, and great for experimentation to see how they interact. Avoid the Steam and phone versions, they look bad. Emulate the GBA or SNES versions instead (or the GBA version with the SNES music patch like I did). if you want a modern version, play Bravely Default, its like a spiritual successor to FFV specifically
>RTS
My favorite is Command and Conquer Generals: Zero Hour. not too versed in this genre so go with others
>Fighting
for fundamentals, Street Fighter 2 super turbo. If yo uwant a modern game, probably Street Fighter V, then branch into DBZ fighters probably if you want to stick to 2D. 3D is a whole other thing, and Tekken is king.
>Racing
If you want a party racer, Sonic allstars Transformed is shockingly amazing. If you want a more realistic game, maybe Forza horizon 3
Just go play league with the other brainlets
>>Turn Based
>Nocturne
fuck no, are you nuts? Nocturne is like dropping a beginner into the deep end. OP I recommend Paper Mario or Dragon Quest 8 instead
I think SMT IV is a good entrance point to RPGs, assuming OP has determination. It teaches lessons that will stick with OP forever, without all the rough edges Nocturne has for a newcomer.
Boy i started with Nocturne. Gotta start at the deep end.
>>Turn Based RPG
Fallout 1 and 2.
When I say beginner, I don't mean brainlet. If Nocturne is as good as it sounds, I'll learn and adapt. If anything, it being a big challenge will just push me to conquer it.
Thanks for all the advice so far. Keep it coming famalamas
Devil may cry 3

Don't

t.has never played a fighting game
Why do you guys keep corrupting Wojack?
I recommend playing IV first. it is more beginner friendly in terms of Quality of Life, not difficulty. Nocturne and IV arent connected in story, only in battle systems. Once you have a better understanding of how battles work in IV. Then i would go back and play Nocturne, or IV's semi-sequel, IV: Apocalypse. And I think Apocalypse has the best battle system the series and genre as a whole have to offer
SMT Nocturne and IV are about dealing with RNG and deeply understanding combat mechanics and systems, so if you do play Nocturne, dont play on Hard if its your first venture to the genre

fighting games are only for the strongest of them all
piggy-backing off of this, fighting games are a huge time sink. If you want basic competence at a game, it will take tens of hours to learn a character well, and hundreds to get good at the game. luckily, the skill you get will transfer to other games, so that process will quicken rapidly. if you have IRL friends, get one and invite them over and play often. having a training buddy helps out immensely. Street fighter is a great starting point because of the footsies, basic commands that are a staple to the genre, and simple characters that dont have every single tool in the toolkit so you learn the different styles (shoto, grappler, rushdown, zoner, etc). the satisfaction you get for executing purposely planned combos and mind games that pay off, or hard ass reads are immeasurable, but getting good is a journey.
What appeals to you the most in a game OP? That will help pick games that align with what you like. Gameplay, learning mechanics and systems, stories, lore, atmosphere, music, etc.
