So Which is the best Zelda game?
So Which is the best Zelda game?
Other urls found in this thread:
No
A Link to the Past
Breath of the Wild, Easily. If it had more zelda elements though I would consider it one of the best games of all time
Majora's Mask
A more interesting question is what is the best non-Zelda Zelda game?
Because everyone has an opinion of the Zelda series but there are many excellent non-Zelda Zelda games out there that nobody talks about.
For example, the Legend of Oasis / Story of Thor games are excellent.
Links Awakening
The wand of gamelon
>but there are many excellent non-Zelda Zelda games out there
There's basically aren't though. None of them reach the same heights as Zelda proper and all fail to provide the same level of interactivity that makes the top Zelda titles stand out. What Nintendo does is extremely difficult for others to copy since it requires such meticulous attention to detail.
Ocarina of Time is the correct answer though.
Conventionally it's OoT or ALttP, maybe even BotW if you accept its changes as gospel. For my money though, I'm a fan of TP. Has its flaws but I love it nonetheless.
Nigga do you know how many shitty Zelda games there are? Stop putting those gooks on a pedestal.
>maybe even BotW if you accept its changes as gospel
Conceptually they're awesome it's just the game is so fucking shallow and repetitive
I agree, i wish the divine beasts were harder but easily my favorite Zelda
>When you get into a Zelda lore sperging mood and then realise Nintendo doesn't give a shit and just wanted to make a series about a cartoon elf who fights a pig and are forced to add Gorons/Zoras because people would complain otherwise
I'm sorry Nintendo
I like most of the 2D games, Oracle Of Seasons has best waifu btw
Star Fox Adventures
aside from all of the shit though the thing that makes me mad the most is that you don't even get to fucking fight general scales
the new one
Any of the first three games, hard to choose.
>breath of shit best anything
kek
>Nigga do you know how many shitty Zelda games there are?
Yes, which is why I specifically said " top Zelda titles". And they do deserve to be acclaimed because nobody else seems to actually be able to do what they do, no matter what they attempt.
This
>it's just the game is so fucking shallow and repetitive
sounds like every zelda game out there.
Darksiders. With the exception of Ocarina of Time and maybe Twilight Princess, Darksiders is the most interesting take on the Zelda formula out there. If you can get past the Joe Mad art design and the 2edgy4u story trappings, it’s a really fucking solid Zelda game
Zelda entered its dark ages in 2002 and didn't come out again until Hyrule Warriors.
Couldn't get in Oot because it aged like shit and I didnt get to try it in my childhood. Is there anyway i can play Oot/MM remaster or something like that?
my fave is windwaker
I acknowledge that "A Link to the Past" is the best Zelda game but it's not my favorite.
plebs
all of you
for its time? link to the past, Majoras and Twilight
overall? I would say breath, but mainly because of the tech advantage compared to other zelda games
A Link Between Worlds.
ages/mm for 2 and 3d
Changing things so that you can carry more weapons but far less food items would improve the game so much it's not funny.
Likewise, its obvious that the slate powers were originally going to be rewards for completing the cardinal dungeons, and only got shoved into the start because Nintendo wanted to wow everyone at E3 with physics but didn't want to disappoint players by denying them all.
Most of what they're going for in the game is absolutely beautiful, and it's great to have something for the first time in decades that's on par with the ambition of the N64 games and converts most of the gimmicky shit the series attempted since then into something substantial.
BotW > WW > LttP> OoT > MM > TP > SS
breath of the wild
unless you still have the peripheral you are a pleb as well
Link's Awakening DX Mother Fucker
They got remakes on 3DS.
Minish cap, you can be big, you can be little, its got spirit, and it's the best.
if only you dont have to deal with ezlo...
yes
But the dungeons would be unbeatable without their respective slate power.
>Link's Awakening is the best Zeld-
Ezlo > Navi
still annoying
Unironically Majoras Mask. It turned one of the most boring and vanilla Links and Hyrule into one of the most interesting...without even being set in Hyrule proper.
>Breath of the Wild is the best Zelda
>doesn't have enough Zelda elements
A game's good or it isn't, the whole "it's a good game, but not a good x game" doesn't mean jack shit. Breath of the Wild is fantastic, but if it added back some zelda staples like big dungeons it would be one of the GOATs
Ocarina of Time and it's not even a question. Everyone who says something different is an idiot.
Nintendo hasn't managed to capture that atmosphere ever since. Its soundtrack alone makes it superior to all other Zeldas, it makes the game feel actually mystical, ominous and adventurous and like a real world. While it's a weird way to put it, the sound felt like something you could actually hear if the real world had a soundtrack. In most games and Zeldas it's just too fake and stereotypical.
youtube.com
Even this fucking song.
It's also the Zelda that comes the closest to being "mature" and actually creepy with an incredible variety in enemies and levels.
Also the most redpilled.
Navi > Fi
>"it's a good game, but not a good x game" doesn't mean jack shit.
It means a lot when the OP is specifically asking for the best x.
If Nintendo would put out a Super Mario World that just plays like FIFA, the majority would rightfully exclude it when discussing the best Mario.
>arguing over which pile of shit stinks the least
No they wouldn't. I'll take your example, I know tons of people who consider Mario Strikers as a pretty fantastic mario game, maybe not the best but high up there on the list. Zelda also has some other games that don't fit the standard dungeon crawling formula, so unless you specify it means every zelda game. As far as that goes, It's Breath of the Wild
this
with in second place
so you are that guy who plays just for the memes and creepypastas, bet you think mother 3 is the shit
This one.
Aonuma tries to hard to be silly. Kobayashi (The lead artist of Zelda) tries too hard to emulate Ghibli (Lighthearted but with a layer of grittiness and social commentary underneath) and Toon Link is an abortion. Eeveryone who ever made Ocarina what it was is long gone assuming it wasn't just 64 limitations.
Maybe the remakes rubbed off on Grezzo but Oasis was ass so probably not.
>but if it added back some zelda staples like big dungeons it would be one of the GOATs
Zelda's dungeons have never been its strongest aspect though. The overworld/towns has always been superior and is really what defines Zelda. It's better to break up all the dungeon puzzles (which are rarely ever linked into a greater whole outside of maybe two or three individual puzzles) into smaller chunks the player can tackle at will, unless the game is willing to throw gauntlets of enemies at the players with the expectation you will survive like in AoL.
BOTW, OOT, LTTP, LA, MM are the only real contenders here. The rest is nostalgia.
>Zelda's dungeons have never been its strongest aspect though. The overworld/towns has always been superior and is really what defines Zelda.
Funny how the first LoZ had lots of the former and none of the latter. It was obvious that Nintendo were just looking for justification to jump on the Open World fad.
Wind waker although I can understand why some don't like it
There's a hack that gets rid of all the annoying messages. Link's Awakening had some early-installment weirdness, but it's still one of the best games in the series.
The Oracle games are better though.
I like wind waker because im a ucker for open seas game, doesnt matter if its a shallow world, as long as i have that feeling of exploration im all aboard, hell im still playing AC black flag up to this day
Ocarina, objectively
Every reply that isn't Majora´s Mask is just objectively wrong.
>Wind Waker
>shallow world
I see what you did there
Nah, Wind Waker actually came very close to that OoT magic. The soundtrack is incredible and pure magic, especially the sea, Dragon Root Island, the Deku Tree, sunken Hyrule etc.
>Nah, Wind Waker actually came very close to that OoT magic.
I actually agree here and consider it the second most immersive game in the series. Outset island is beautiful. It doesn't change the fact of most of the game being horrifically repetitive, Fischer-Price ass though.
Depends on what you're after.
story: Link's Awakening
exploration: Breath of the Wild
core combat/swordplay: Twilight Princess
dungeon aesthetics: Skyward Sword (no, really)
single dungeon: Phantom Hourglass (Temple of the Ocean King is one of the best designed in the series)
unique items: Spirit Tracks
dungeons: A Link to the Past or A Link Between Worlds
writing/NPCs: Majora's Mask
that rewarding feeling of gitting gud: Adventure of Link
Playing Oracle of Ages right now and I'd just like to say FUCK THE ENTIRE JABU-JABU BELLY AND EVERYONE WHO MADE THE GARBAGE MERMAID SUIT WITH FORCING YOU TO MASH DIRECTIONAL BUTTONS TO SWIM.
TWW does have it's odd charm. Being able to hang out in that cafe and be able to see out the windows instead of that usual light filter games use does help make the game feel real nice. It's really saccharine but not childishly so, especially when you're farting around places like the Forsaken Fortress and Tower of the Gods. Not like later Toon games or Skyward Sowrd do anyhow.
The game gets shit on for a lot of things but I never see anyone praise it for it's unique atmosphere.
this nigger's got the right idea
Based on the 3D Zeldas, due to mostly playing those games and not playing alot of the 2D one (though my answer would be "link to the past" for the 2D games). I'd say OoT or TP are probably the most solid Zelda games.
