It's really not a Heretic clone at all. Not even slightly. Different genre, different mechanics, different aesthetic. Having one or two weapons inspired by those of Heretic does not make it similar to Heretic in any meaningful way.

Not even that's accurate. It lacks the fast pace of Painkiller and the huge enemy counts of Serious Sam.

You might like the "Wheel of Time" game, if you aren't familiar with the book series I think the game explains enough on it's own, and it's pretty much fan fiction anyway. You play as an Aes Sedai which is basically a pure mage.

Gerald Brom did boxart for Heretic, he didn't work on Hexen as far as I know but his influence is obvious. I'm not an artfag but he was influenced by Frazetta, darker colors, more "real", less digital looking, better shapes, sharper lighting. More gothic/dark fantasy than high fantasy.
