>Create an overwatch clone
>It's the fault of PUBG, a completely different genre, that we failed

top kek cliffy

big if tru

FUCK YOU BUY THE GAAAAME

literally never heard of this game

why exactly is this game worth focusing on anyway? curious since I see a thread about it every day and it just looks kind of mediocre and there doesn't appear to have had any major meltdowns like the battleborn guy did

Why is vidya the only industry where you can produce low quality shit, cost a company millions, make excuses and openly admit that your product can't compete and still keep your job? I'm genuinely curious how a failure like Cliffy can fuck up so hard and not have to worry about his career.

>Gender-neutral bathroom
>Gross-looking characters
>Morty ball
>Fails

Mmm, perfect.

Im sure its because he has connections.

Cliffy B is behind it, he was pushing the SJW shit hard prior to launch, and he liked arrogantly boasting and talking shit to people on Twitter.

GUYS JUST BUY THE GAEYM. I BEG YOU. I AM NOT GETTING PAID FOR THIS POST I PROMISE YOU. I'M DOING THIS BECAUSE ME AND AMIRA LOVE THE GAEYM.

LET US FANS SHOW BOSS KEY WE LOVE THIS GAEYM BY LOGGING IN TONIGHT FOR A FEW HOURS AND GET THAT PLAYER COUNT UP

To be fair LB was released when battle royales were the new trend

It's just funny to watch the whole thing disintegrate into nothing, given how much of a faggot Cliffy is. The excuses are comedy gold.

too many games like it, plus shit marketing and no waifus at all

link to the reupload?

Is this a battle royale or is this a hero shooter, because lawbreakers was strictly marketed as a hero shooter.

>when your game is so bad you blame a game of a completely different genre that also release half a year earlier than your product

Thats some real deflection of blame right there

Im terrible with finances, what does "writting off" mean?

Battleborn had it's own problems. Pitchford committed himself and his game to a dick-waving contest with Overwatch and got blown out of the fucking water, eventually making Battlborn free to play. Even then their playercount didn't go up.

Lawbreakers had an impressive pedigree and honestly wasn't a BAD game, but it was so uninspired and anemic in both design and concept that there was literally no reason to play it. There were so many other games that did everything better that no one wanted to stop playing what they were already into to pick up Lawbreakers. I can't think of another game that fucking died that quickly.

youtube.com/watch?v=2Z_s3L9bqac&t=51s

It's not an Overwatch clone though. It's technically a hero shooter, but it's more like a bootleg tribes than it is Overwatch.

>writing off an asset usually means it’ll either be sold or abandoned.

S

>too many games like it
like what? that new quake game?

I'm not really right wing so this isn't interesting. thanks for explaining I guess

It insta-died, and was never successful, just like Battleborn or Paladins.
Overwatch, PUBG and, surprinsingly, Fortnite are the only ones that made it through 2017.
Overwatch can't and shouldn't be copied, Blizzard waited years before daring to take the spot that TF2 occupied and OW's community is already slowly reducing, and Fortninte and PUBG can't and shouldn't be copied anymore. Any game that you release trying to copy and steal their playerbase will instafail unless there's some sort of unforeseen miracle.
It's like WoW, there's no use of releasing any MMORPG nowadaysd, the genre is not lucrative enough, you'll always be compared to WoW and you won't end up succeeding at stealing their playerbase.
Similarly, Wizards of the Coast should have released a Magic video game like Hearthstone is years before Blizzard did, now they're forever screwed watching them having the spot they should have claimed.

Nothing happened to the original?
youtube.com/watch?v=2Z_s3L9bqac
>PAYD PROMOUUUUTION

overwatch, paladins, tf2, even battleborn.

It's beyond saving. You accept the loss and don't put any more money back into it.

>It insta-died, and was never successful, just like Battleborn or Paladins.
paladins is still alive, don't lump it in with battleborn and lawbreakers

TF2 is the closest, the others are more like assfaggots than shootan games.

>it's more like a bootleg tribes than it is Overwatch.

Yeah I got the whole "360 degree aerial combat" thing they were pushing. That sounds horrible to play on a console. Like I said, they did an absolutely awful job marketing this game and explaining what it is and who is the target audience. I know a lot of people are saying Cliffy should get fired, but the marketing team should DEFINITELY get fired.

So is TF2. But it's not on the same levle as Overwatch at all.

>>Gender-neutral bathroom
You guys get caught up on the dumbest things. You really think the average dipshit on the street cares or even knows about this?

They aren't going to devote any more resources to it. No staff, no servers, no nothing. Within the next month Lawbreakers will be officially dead unless someone else wants to buy the property and keep it on life support for some reason.

Guys we got GENDER-NEUTRAL bathrooms because we're living in the FUTUUURE!!!!

>the bathroom symbol is still a person wearing half a dress.

You would think they would have some other gender symbols in the tolerant future other than "person with or without a skirt on"

>So is TF2. But it's not on the same levle as Overwatch at all.
yeah and overwatch isn't on the same level as pubg at all

It failed significantly faster than Battleborn somehow. Battleborn lasted a good two years before dipping to an only double digit player base, Lawbreakers hit that mark on it's third or fourth month of release.

Still need to see the number of players OW got going on. Paladins is fine.

I guess nobody cares about gender neutral toilets after all.

Do you think Metal Gear Survive is going to get a "battle royale" mode? Because if so, I can see it doing okay.

You'd think it would just be a toilet or whatever since unisex bathrooms exist in real life.

>Should we make our game more appealling by asking the community what we should do?
>Nah, let's just get Justin Roiland to voice our stupid fucking Blitzball ripoff and do a trailer.

Once a soyboy always a soyboy

>Mmm
Reminder that anyone who types
>mmmmm
or
>hmmmm
Is a soyboy.

I'm hoping it doesn't. It should be fine for sales because of the name alone. How long the multiplayer aspects will last will be the real test.

Dude, it's a zombie game, it's 2 fads behind the current thing.
Konami has no idea what they are doing.

Honestly ? I could see it fail just as much as it could do okay. I guess we'll just have to wait and see. PUBG seems to me to be undisputed king of the hill for now.
No matter how hard Sup Forums memes about OW, the game is far from dead for now (not that it means that Paladins is doing bad but it just isn't on the same level, normies play OW over Paladins). Doesn't mean it won't slowly wither though.
I think the battle royale trend is fast fading and PUBG & Fortnite will be the last games standing, but I dunno, I've been wrong before so let's see.

Konami isn't that smart.

That's a shame, it seems like it was a legitimately fun game.

I swear i'm tired of looking at this foul creation.

I hope you guys realise the failure of Lawbreakers and Evolve and the recent closures of Ghost in the Shell and Hawken is not a good sign for multiplayer games as a whole

>Shit
>Shit
>Shit
>Niche

Yep, gaming is doomed.

>not a good sign for multiplayer games as a whole
Do you honestly think that online multiplayer is on the decline, and people are just going to go back to single-player experiences?

>he was pushing the SJW shit hard prior to launch
He posted one screen shot of a gender neutral bathroom, while gender neutral bathrooms were a hot topic in the media, just to get a little exposure on twitter

I wouldn't really call that "pushing SJW shit hard"

>Do you honestly think that online multiplayer is on the decline
Much like the internet in general, more and more people are doing it, but there is less and less diversity in what they're doing.

We have more people than ever playing online multiplayer games, but as a whole people are playing less games than before.

I don't see how it could be healthy for multiplayer in general to have everyone playing one of like 5 games and almost nothing else

>call of duty but youre a mech
>niche

Like it or not, but shit like this drags the game down. People pick this "gender neutral bathroom" stuff up on Sup Forums and take their negative opinion to other boards and websites.

I'm gonna miss Hawken. The devs that "revived" the game were absolute retards though. I really enjoyed it.

>We have more people than ever playing online multiplayer games, but as a whole people are playing less games than before.
I respect your opinion but I disagree.
I think the problem is market over-saturation.
The way it used to be, there was a flavor-of-the-year game like battlefield or MW2 or something, and EVERYBODY was playing it. Now there are 20 different multiplayer shooters going on at once so the playerbase is spread too thin between them all.

Can't wait to force this meme some more.

I hope Nexon learned that you always lose pandering SJWs.

None of those games are anything even remotely like lawbreakers, which is an arena shooter. Quake champions is its only real competition.

If your game doesn't blow up instantly, it's done.
Community won't grow and all you get are people being apologetic on message board, further detering people from buying the game.

You're forgetting the film industry.

FFXIV I believe has been fairly successful everything considered. WotC were never going to make a game that matched Hearthstone's success though, they're massive jews and would never allow the best cards to be acquired without paying money.

>let's not blame our cringe marketing
>let's not blame the fact that on first glance it looks like an Overwatch clone
>let's not blame the sjw pandering
IT'S WAS ALL PUBG

People in film get fired, unless they're blowing the producer.

They accept it's an utter failure and let it die. And thanks to insurance, as long as they have an excuse and a big publisher, and agree to entirely disown it, they can recoup some of their investment.

The best part about that trailer is that the viewbotting wasn't even subtle. 100 likes and 10 dislikes for a video with over one million views.

Should have been F2P as originally planned, not that $30 multiplayer only bullshit.

It's just going to be RUST in the Fox engine.

Explain video game movies, then.

Only Hawken is a real loss, GitS was stuffed with P2W bullshit and Evolve/Lawbreakers shouldn't need a reason given as to their awfulness.

>call of duty but youre a mech
You mean Titanfall?

>Wizards of the Coast should have released a Magic video game like Hearthstone is years before Blizzard did, now they're forever screwed watching them having the spot they should have claimed.
I dont think so, Magic and Hearthstone are in the same genre buy plays different and appeals to different people.

If Wizards release a Magic solid game like Hearthstone with all the cards, and not only the new expansions, there will be people who will play it, even both games without having to choose between them and progressively keep playing Magic instead Hearthstone

No.
In Hawken everyone has a mech that handles nothing like you'd think a mech would handle. So it's an arena shooter with a nice skin.
Titanfall you can be either in a mech or on the ground as a soldier.

Nexon's been choosing some really fuckawful games to back lately.

That's not necessarily true. Warframe was a nothing game for a good god damn long time but blew up slowly because of constant support and new content until word of mouth got out that the game was actually enjoyable. It's possible to play the long game, but you have to be willing to invest and course correct, which none of these games ever try to do. They just double down on their failures and when the game isn't given success for no reason they give up.

No, it's definitely Hawken

That sounds pretty fucking niche to me.

>Let's make a game where half of the game feels like you're shooting underwater
>Let's make a game with gender neutral bathrooms
>Let's make a game with ctf and a guy that can fucking warp every 1.5 seconds
>Let's make a game with like 20 characters all of which have zero personality
>Let's make a game where a black woman is our mascot
>Let's make a game with cliffy B
Who could have foreseen such failure? This is a BILLION DOLLAR FRANCHISE

NONE OF THAT PEOPLE PLAYING OUR GAME BULLSHIT!

His levels of denial are amazing.
This game could have worked if it wasn't so goddamn ugly. Everything in it is just ugly. The UI, the characters design, the promo pics, the suits, literally every single thing about this game design and graphics is fucking hideous. It's not even bad for an AAA game it's even bad if it was an indie dev from his mom's basement. It's the worse piece of visual art I have ever seen.

Honestly the designers and modelers that worked on that should seek another career path.

>call of duty (reskinned) is niche

>In Hawken everyone has a mech that handles nothing like you'd think a mech would handle

So it appeals neither to mechfags nor to whitebread cowadoody fags, great idea

That's right.

That's why I didn't get into it. It didn't really feel like a mech game.

Did somebody let Sup Forums out of their cage again?

I like Titanfall. Bretty good game 5/5.

If anything I hope it pushes developers into putting more focus on Co-Op and PVE modes and also make having multiplayer bots standard in games again.

Not everything has to be the same pvp stuff over and over again.

>There has been a management shakeup at LawBreakers studio Boss Key. Co-founder Arjan Brussee has left the Raleigh, North Carolina-based game developer to re-join nearby studio Epic Games.
lol

cliffy isn't employed by anyone, hes head of his company, the game industry police doesn't come and fire you if you make a shit game dumbass

Battleborn's biggest issue was timing, because the full game released during the week of the Overwatch public beta. It's second biggest issue was that the meta required excessive grinding on each character to unlock their gear, thus making it super easy for new players to get stomped when pitted against players with many hours on a character.

Lawbreakers isn't a terrible game, i've played far worse. However Cliffy B acts like it's this new "hot adult M-rated shooter" as if he forgot he worked on Unreal a long ass time ago. It doesn't do anything new, and has steep rec specs. Most of the shit the game gets is from Cliffy being a smug jackass about it

battleborns biggest issue is it was a shit game

Hawken was a shame, but GitS was perfectly avoidable. It wasn't a superb game, but i had an ok time. Nexon is retarded and tried to fix what wasn't broken and nobody liked it afterwards

Daily reminder that Cliff is becoming new Randy

...

Battleborn also has an issue with character design. It appeals to a very small demographic of people, and visual appeal is fairly important in a game like that.
