For consumers as a whole, it was a piece of shit

For consumers as a whole, it was a piece of shit
For Nintendo, it was a piece of shit.
This piece of shit made Nintendo bleed money so hard the company decided to euthanize it and go back to the design room, finally creating a good console with an actual gimmick instead of a half-assed one.
The public, desperate to give Nintendo money but not desperate enough to buy a piece of shit, reacts positively and the new console not only already surpassed its predecessor's lifetime sales but it became the fastest selling videogame platform of all time. Nintendo's efforts to correct its mistake were rewarded.

Meanwhile the most hardcore Nintendo fanboys defended the piece of shit to death for years, going as far as genuinely believing absurd shit like:
>"The WiiU sells few because it's a platform for the elite"
>"PC is Nintendo's complementary platform; as long as a game is released on PC it can be considered a WiiU's indirect port"
If it were for them, the WiiU would continue living forever and the Switch will never exist.

A company's worst enemies isn't the competitors; it's the fanboys.

I agree.

Hell Nintendo was their worse enemy, the reveal, the first year and the software were fucking garbage.
Sad thing is it's still a better console than the Switch

im mad they went for the USE YOUR OWN STORAGE DEVICE BRO
>it kills flashsticks
>SD cannot be used to play games
>USB ports cannot power external drives properly
>drives with dedicated power core are a dying breed

it was a fucking mess

>controller alone is twice the the and twice the weight of the console that succeeds it
>1080p/480p vs 1080p/720p
>weaker hardware in every way
What are you smoking user? The Switch is literally the Wii U 2.0, it's the same concept but better in every way.

Anyone have any collective butthurt of nintenbros defending this piece of shit? I know it was a big thing when it was released and I guarantee the people on here who bought one sold it

I like mine. It's like kryptonite for one console peasants though.
>Bunch of the best games of the generation on it
>But it basically exclusively plays WiiU games

You go for revisionism all you want, but 2014 and 2015 for the WiiU were the best years for any platform this gen. Im an idort and its by far my favorite platform of the generation, in the earlier days of the gen it was my most used platform by far.

Ive never heard anyone refer to the Wii-U as a platform for ‘the elite.’ But honestly, I think the name of the console is the biggest contributing factor to its failure. It sounded like a new version of a console people already bought. I’m sure plenty of parents thought it was just an upgrade or something.
It had enough good games that I bought one, but I hate the Nintendo controller gimmicks we’ve had for the past 3 consoles. There’s a reason people /still/ use fucking GameCube controllers.
Switch’s gimmick is better, I guess, but more than anything it succeeded because of a couple of good games out of the gate, good marketing, and a better name. Having just BotW at E3 and making it a big event was ingenious. Everyone was so hyped to get to play it.

Nintendo hasn’t really had a good console in many, many years. They just have enough good IPs that you can’t play on any other console.

Except the fact the second screen was an amazing concept when utilized correctly and the Switch is just a tablet that does nothing special

Which games utilized it correctly?

>Mario
>Zelda
>Mario
>Zelda
>Mario
>Zelda
>Mario
>Zelda
>Mario
>Zelda
>Mario
>Zelda
>Mario
>Zelda
>Lego
>Lego

What an amazing and varied games library. I'm sure the PC cucks, Sony niggers and X bots are so goddamn jealous

This

Xenoblade Chronicles X

One thing I love about Wii U is that anything labeled with its name gets discounted heavily on reseller websites. I was able to pick up a Pro controller for $25 and it works a hell of a lot better than Switch's $80 controller.

The absolute fucking state of you

It works on the Switch?

Nah. I've never seen one good think come from two screen play.

and it ruined Star Fox, so double no.

The Wii U is unique and interesting system. It has a solid library of great exclusives. Thats all a console can ever hope for really.

Nintendoland, w101, Splatoon
Batman AC also had great gamepad use

Nintendo Land you fucks, also the gamepad/dual screen is a much better gimmick than JOYCONS

of course Nintendo didn't bother using the gamepad in any of the big games like Mario Kart or Splatoon, presumably because the console was underpowered and couldn't handle it. worked great in Hyrule Warriors though.

with mayflash adaptor yes

>SD cannot be used to play games
what did he mean by this

i've been using the same sandisk usb stick for years on my wii u just fine, stop using chink flash media.

I use mine as a youtube/netflix machine, plus i occasionaly playing BOTW from time to time.

Although the WiiU library was solid, it lacked any real killer game until the very last (BotW). Coupled with poor marketing, it's not hard to see why it had trouble selling.

I own a hacked Wii U and it's an amazing console
But overall the system was junk, yeah

I'm just waiting for homebrew on Switch myself before getting one

If i use a SD card with an USB adaptar can i use it a guetto flashstick or i may get compatibility issues?

it's hacked you retard which means it's better than all other consoles. I can play f-zero with a pro controller you can play your daddy's cock.

It had a lot of fantastic games, you fucking retard.

Also, WWHD and TPHD. Wii U was the perfect Zelda machine and Im still pissed that the gamepad features were cut from BOTW to sell more Switches. I didnt pay $300 for planned obsolescence, fuck Nintendo.

Wii U was flawless.
Nintendo was bad.
Retarded players were bad.

>Which games utilized it correctly?
Xenoblade X
Spratoon
TMS #FE
Fatal Frame V
Paper Mario Color Splash
Star Fox Zero
Super Mario Maker
Wonderful 101
Pikmin 3
Nintendo Land
Xenoblade X
Hyrule Warriors
HD LoZ games
Multiplat ports

>Star Fox Zero

Reminds me of this. Its the chads that pirate games actually give games popularity.

>Star Fox Zero
Yes. Any problems?

Who ever said this? It was universally agreed that it was a flop outta the gates.

The Wii U was just basically a functional Switch prototype

Mario Odyssey was ten million times better than the trash 3d world was

What N64 game is this?

>Star Fox Zero

Lol.

What about backwards compatibility? What about free online?

>This piece of shit made Nintendo bleed money so hard
They made money on it you know.

I recently bought my friend's wii u which low and behold it was sitting in his closet shortly after he bought it so I bought it off of him just to play Pikmin 3 cause I've loved the Pikmin series since I was kid and from what I've experienced it's fairly solid machine but there's no doubt the time and effort Nintendo spent making it should have just been used on the switch that being said I like it as a neat little emulating machine

I’ll take 3D World over an empty 90s collectathon. Odyssey isn’t even half as good as 64.

Profit was short compared to Wii

100 million vs 13 million

Less videogames and more books, nigger.

It looks fine in motion, nothing spectacular though.

Fanboys also killed dark souls

breathe dude

Why do toddlers get upset when someone criticize their piece of turd?

The Wii U gamepad screen was fucking horrible not to mention that the shitty battery sucked ass

Only a few games actually used the Wii U gamepad correctly (Wario Ware microgames but that game sucked ass)

I'm glad they dropped the shitty Gamepad concept and actually released a real console

I didn't bought a n64, wii or switch, I don't consider myself a nintendo fanboy but the Wii U was a fine console with some nice games. All it lacked was 3rd party support and proper advertising.

switch is the next wiiu
i say this as someone who owns both consoles

after we got xenoblade 2 there's literally nothing coming out

>Only a few games actually used the Wii U gamepad correctly

It also lacked a good name instead of Pee Poo

It also lacked consistent release of software

But it's true, outside of some few first party games, the gamepad screen was mostly optional

I used to pirate og xbox, ps2 and all the consoles after that, but for some reason I started buying physical games again with the start of the 3ds. Can I get back into it? Is it also easy to put cfw on the ps4pro and newer consoles like it?

It's a shame it failed it had such potential and the gamepad was my favorite controller ever. I hardly ever use my switch portable so it feels like a huge gimmick downgrade to me

The Wii U is a shit console but it’s still better than the Switch. Enjoy your paid online, you cock sucking drone.

>it was shit
>And yet people beg to get its games on Switch
>And yet people pay to pirate its games on an emulator
wew lads

It's not worth to get physical copies when all they are these days are just a box and the disc. No manuals, just shitty pamphlets if you're lucky.
Maybe for Switch, but why'd you go physical for PS4 or Xbone when you have to install your games into the system to fucking begin with

COD: Black Ops 2 is the best version of that game. Sadly nobody played the online because Nintendo's retarded marketing

The games are still super expensive unless its a turd party.

I don't know. When I buy games it's usually a year after release when they're only like 15 bucks and I just think what the heck.

Because switch has no games

Can't win 'em all. Virtual Boy failed hard, too. They moved on. It's not like Sega, with 3 stinkers in a row.
