Punch wizard best class.

Have you tried the update? They got a world map now.

Also, expansion when? I hear we gonna get custumizable jetskis and boats.

What Morrowind mod is that?

This. Though Psi-Monks are serriously OP, funnest build in a cRPG by far.

I really wanted to like the game but I tried it twice and I stop around the junkyard.

It's too slow and takes forever to get anything done in this game. Plus crossbows aren't that awesome. I always go crossbows in games, and they never get the respect they deserve.

I've gotten a hundred hours out of the game and I doubt I will replay it, but no other RPG ever had me this engaged in combat, exploration and building my character.

Having a world map though should have been in a long time ago

>never get the respect they deserve
Yeah it's not like crossbows are by far the most broken thing in Skyrim or anything.

This
Gothic 2: NotR is the best game in existence

>run away from everything: the videogame

no thanks

> stop around Junkyard
Crossbows don't shine until mid-laterish game.

If anythinh crossbows are fucking amazing with how versitile they can be with the variety of status effects and damage types they can output.

>mid-laterish game

Guess I need to give it another shot. From what I hear, yeah the special arrows are where they shine.

>I must be able to effectively engage any enemy at any time
You should consider playing one of those Bethesda games.

>playing Skyrim

git

>run away

I only tried to play this years ago. I have been spoiled by games with maps/minimaps, but there wasn't one for this. Does it have one now or it is still an exploreathon and an exercise in amateur cartography?

there is now a map in the experimental branch of the game.

Theres a map but it doesnt help the awful quest journal or the not being able to reread past quest dialogue at all

This game has possibly the most satisfying caster builds i've seen in ages.
Even more when you combine them with crafting for grenades and chems, feels like you're ready for every situation the game can drop on you.

I don't recognize that area at all.

Maybe it's deep caverns? When they added the map, they had to change around some of the areas so they'd make sense in relation to each other.

And into the trash it goes. Thanks for the warning

I'ts the place where you fight the black crawler.

>getting to the black crawler means fighting waves after waves of crawler
>finally get down there
>fight ends quickly
>loot is garbage
Most disappointing part of the game,

It teaches you that there isn't always a treasure chest behind a pile of corpses.

Should I play this game if I like to talk my way through RPGs or is it battle-focused? How are the quests and story?

Shit, even Dude tells you to not go there and he's always right.

It's battle focused. There is persuasion, but it kinda sucks.

Limited maps are interesting, no rereading/journal is weak. What if I take a break for a week and forget about the circumstances of the next task? No buy, thanks.

>pic unrelated

I think I made a mistake by going crossbows only. Didn't take the pill, did't use guns, points wasted on crafting skills equally resulting in me not being able to craft any armor or electronic stuff. Most encounters were me thinking how to trick the game and kill 10 enemies that can kill me in a couple of hits. Getting the figurine back for Tchortists was hell, because I was in armor that said that it gave bonus to stealth, but actually removed said amount, I had to reload shitton of time to get lucky with actually hitting targets, doing chain stuns, throwing nets and running behind columns. I won the final battle in Arena by reloading shitton of times to start walking before game goes into turn based mode, just one square far enough to not get punched to death in the first turn, somehow managed to go into stealth and used bear traps to kill the guy. Thank fucking god stuns exist, because I managed to sneak into Ironhead lair, get into Balors room, wait for him to come in, close the door and start fighting in 3x3 space trying to stay unnoticed, because every single enemy i the area is alive. Mushroom forest is bullshit. Junkyard mutant dogs are bullshit. I don't even know how I survived final boss.
I feel like melee is strong here because of all the fucking skills and magic if you can cast unkillable ghosts.

Yeah, I'm and it was hell handling multiple enemies as a crossbow user. What should we be doing? Traps?

Traps for a crossbow are a must. Grenadier perk too.

Crossbow builds are like a swiss army knife. Prepare for every occasion. Set mines down kill-zones. Open with an HE or an EMP grenade. Make use of exotic bolts. Master your environment.

Always carry grenades, emp. molotov, special bolts, nets. Abuse doors against animals, abuse tight spaces against melee, use stealth first or just walk past everyone, use bear traps around corners. Crossbows actualy do nice damage, you can one shot enemies late in game, but you definetly need to think how to use all of your shit, don't do AoE damage after throwing flashbang, remember that enemies will run from you after catching fire and can heal and come back to you with fear resistance, burrower eggs are main priority or else you'll get swarmed. Use money to buy ammo for everything, you don't need it anyway unless you want to put shitton of money into a big ugly house.

>95% chance to hit cap
>miss 5 shots out of 20
yeah nah, shit game

>what is Fallout: New Vegas?

Repair your guns, the game doesn't show chance based on item durability which affects it.

wasnt the expansion supposed to come out last year lmaooo

They seem to have a very long development cycle. It took 3 fucking years for the game to come out of Early Access and development for the engine started in 2008.

Is there a character editor for this game? I really like the look of it, but I'm paralized by the thought of doing a crappy build.

Are you fucking serious? Why the shitting hell not? Why isn't this clearly stated anywhere? How is the developer this much of an asshole to not tell players such a crucial fucking detail?

The key to making a good character is to specialize, dont try doing everything all at once.
just make what you think is fun

Overrated, and gets btfo'd by even Fallout 2

You can't be a jack of all trades. You will have to focus on a few skills and some builds are much worse than others. If you can beat the Junkyard, you should be fine for the rest of the game, until you get to the Deep Caverns.

Is Junkyard pretty much a milestone? For some reason I always stop there. Good to know it should be more reasonable after that point.

It's the end of the "tutorial" area and it challenges pretty much your build to the breaking point, if you've chosen your stats poorly.

...

Junkyard, no. Depot A, yes. It's the gud barrier. You have to git if you wanna go beyond. After that, the game is ez town until the end but for a few specific fights.

Most fun builds? Already did full-psi, tele-monk, sniper, xbow+stealth+traps (tele-monk a best).
I'm thinking chem-pistoleer although that sounds like a bit of a faff. Are chem guns really that useful?

>Another Post Apocalyptic, everything is made out of poop and junk setting
okay

Yeah, Junkyard is pretty much the stress test for your character before the game opens up and unleashes you into the world.

There are a dozen different methods of getting the drill parts and all are valid and unique.

I like how the game encourages your builds, and how that area serves as kind if a proving grounds.

>chemical pistols
>smgs
>grenades
>max science
this is the raddest shit. I love this game so much, just beat gorsky's retarded quest and I'm trying to finish the gauntlet before going deep. interesting build for my next run? I want to play it all from the start when underzee dlc comes out

Throwing weapons only, knife throwing suffering.

Rolling chem looks appealing as fuck now that the update allows you to unload with chem guns. Gives the build a certain uniqueness that it lacked before.

the best. ice pistol, smg sidearm, and grenades are so much fun. and since you only need guns and throwing, you can max any skills you like. I went all in with crafting and science

>gun is falling apart

WOOOOOOOOOOW why can't I shoot anything? This game is bugged!

You fucks have me convinced. Underrail info tm, here I come.
BTW any underrated perks I should take?

>perks
*feats

To be fair, most other games have weapons break or something similar at 0% durability. It's not often the case that it loses accuracy as well.

not the best damage, but a load of fun. just be sure to keep at least 15 throwing nets on you and youll mop the floor

Brainlet

I bet this is a lot less effective than it sounds but hot damn, if it doesn't give me a stiffy.

Depot A is where bad builds go to die.

If turrets give you trouble, you can disable them with 60 hacking at a certain computer (take the Black Eel's entrance to get to the computer quicker.)

If acid dogs give you trouble, level up tailoring and kill a siphoner to make acid resistant leather armor. You can also try picking off a acid dog and making armor from it's skin, but you need a little bit of points in chemical as well.

You might also get lucky and find acid dog armor while exploring the Underrail that's available to you (I found some on one of the guys in the cave leading out of the bottom of GMS, but I don't know if that's random.)

If you can handle the dogs and turrents, Depot A should be a cinch. If you got good enough stealth and hacking, you can make it though without fighting anything.

Don't you get a special bullet blueprint down there ? one of those that actually have some selling value and weight nothing

oddities or classic?

Post ya base stats, jack?

I think it's random loot, You just got lucky.

1st time playing? Oddities. Otherwise, I'd take classic.

Its the actual end of the tutorial, basically depot A is where you see if you can handle the game or your build/playstyle is shit

Always go with oddity.

Oddity for first run, then classic.

>Balor and his 10 henchmen try to catch my tabi boot 0% penalty sniper
I was not expecting to win this fight. Speaking of armor penalty though, does anyone half dip in it like 50% rather than 0% or 95%? Is it worth still getting stealth or dodging if you're gonna be cutting it in half?

no, im pretty sure that there are contaminated bullets 100% down there, on a skeleton

Well Sup Forums, here's the true challenge for you

Did you ever finish furnishing your house?

I never bought the robots, the house is already ugly as fuck as it is.

whoever suggested me using only assault rifles to burst and just heavy armor

that shit works the game was easy peasy

...

Why did AAA rpg devs abandon having players make builds that matter?
Are normies that bad?

I did with my first playthrough. You get more than enough dosh by exploring all areas before deep caverns.

Because normies don't want to reach a point where they find out all the time they've invested has been for nothing because their build sucks and they have no option but to restart the game

Yes, and i had like 20k coins leftover + 2k dollars + 15k sgs credits

Yes i'm a turbojew when it comes to rpgs and i collect and store everything and never fucking use them and keep telling to myself i will use it when shit hits the fan but it never does

Yes. Casual gamers don't want to have to think to win. They want to spam one or two buttons and pick the shiniest shit, and still win.

Allowing people to just respec their build have been a staple and expectation of modern games for years. Call it quality of life. Frankly, I agree with them.

Almost. Was a pleasant surprise to see you get a crafting bonus in the house.

This. Builds should matter but you should be able to redo your stats in some way in case you completely fucked yourself.

What's the best way to build a shanker? I read that recent updates made being a stabby git a good path now.

By the sounds of it almost every build is viable as long as you specialise

>devs unknowingly decide what classes, skills and attributes kick ass and which ones suck
>you start the game with no information on what to avoid
>lol just powergame and netdeck bro, who cares about immersion!

Reminds me of Arcanum, one random spell is super OP while anyone who picks guns gets fucked.

This build was no fuss no muss though. You just walk and shoot until you beat the game, don't need to debilitate anything or be tactical. I'm sure there are more like it but this was pretty gud.

As opposed to modern western games, where nothing matters and the game's never challenging.

How to build psi monk

Kick is pretty damn good, necessary even. A taser, doesn't matter the quality, is also a good alternative.

To be fair, every freaking game requires you to learn that particular dev's beliefs on game mechanics. It's not always intuitive, and it doesn't always make sense. Some games reward jack-of-all-trades types and others prefer max-min.

It's a guessing game sometimes.

You are having a nice stroll in the depth in the earth when suddenly this little shithead calls you an imbecile. What do?

Oddity mode feels like how the game was meant to be played. But if you've already explored everything and just want to fuck around with build experimenting, go classic.

What build will you play in the expaansion? Melee and long guns will apparently get penalties on water scooters. I think I'll go with a pistol or SMG build with the new time manipulation psi school.

I'm going to be the most casual and boring man in the world and use my last guy with his end game gear,

I haven't done a chem pistol run, so I supposed I'll do that and the time psi school to keep things fresh.
