Two dozen BotW threads a day. How come nobody is talking about Super Mario Odyssey endlessly? This game is fucking amazing. Pure unadulterated Nintendo - endlessly inventive and addictively great fun. This is one of the best games I've played in years.

botw are subtle brap threads

Odyssey was definitely my GOTY, and is probably my favorite 3D mario but I'll have to let time pass by till the "honeymoon phase" is over.
I really enjoyed my time with Odyssey, I didn't even know until today that you could actually possess pirahna plants by stuffing their mouths with a rock then thowing cappy at them.

Also, Shiverans are the best NPCs because they're the cutest.

>How come nobody is talking about Super Mario Odyssey endlessly?
I'm too busy actually playing Odyssey to talk about it, really. This game's music is so good.

>Posts the one bad song that ruined the ending

Cmon man

I loved Odyssey though but it was a little to short imo, need more focussed kingdoms with less moons rather than being mass collectathon that turned into a drag. Also it was too easy, not enough endgame challenging levels. There's so much more they could have done with combining captures and Mario's movement.

Eh, it's alright.

You know a games good if people are too busy playing it to make threads about it.

Insipid mascot with a creepy porn ‘stache who should have been retired ten years ago, formulaic puzzles n’ jumps we’ve seen a thousand times before, pointless sprawl that exists mainly so you can ride a camel or some damn thing, an obligatory moon slice every three minutes, a surfeit of meaningless coins because humans are conditioned to want coins, and desultory levels with no aesthetic consistency and zero surprises. I suppose the T-Rex was pretty awesome while he lasted. Everything since then has been a tedious procession of forced candy-colored jubilance and meaningless bubblegum gameplay. It's a 6/10 game at best

zelda's ass

I agree I can't believe I'm still playing the game, collecting moons feel so good even though there are a lot of easy ones and the kingdoms were really fun to explore.

Mah fellow African American. Can't get this track out of my head.

There's just nothing to talk about without getting into autism territory such as discussing what kingdoms you're hoping for in the next game/DLC

I just beat it and entered the post-game. This is some great shit.

To answer your question, OP, SMO is refinement of 3D Mario, without too many new mechanics added. BotW is new mechanics everywhere. People always gush over that more than refinement.

>the one bad song
I'm sorry your taste is so cripplingly bad, user. I genuinely don't dislike anything on this OST, and that track is strangely satisfying for smashing through walls as mustachebowser.

Tostarenans are cuter, but Shiverians are a close second.

having one constant falseflagging thread is bad enough. That's why.

>I didn't even know until today that you could actually possess pirahna plants by stuffing their mouths with a rock then thowing cappy at them.
WHAT?

...

No one talks about Odyssey endlessly because the game ends. BotW can last a very long time even on a normal playthrough, and the addition of DLC kept people coming back. People 100%ed Odyssey and did all the discussion about it within the first month. It's over, people have finished with it and have moved on with no real reason to ever revisit it.

>hear this
>Think I'm playing a Sonic game

The song isn't terrible but it felt so out of place.

>I didn't even know until today that you could actually possess pirahna plants by stuffing their mouths with a rock then thowing cappy at them.
WHAT THE FUCK?!

Because Princess Peach doesn't wear leggings and bend over with her ass facing the camera in Odyssey.

Because nobody was shitting on Mario and saying it was going to be bad, at least not to the extreme they were BotW, so the fans don't feel compelled to shill it nonstop in response.

Fair enough. I only got the game at Christmas. I'm nowhere close to 100%ing this.

>Muh anime vocals
>Muh edgy guitar riffs
>Muh butchering bowsers theme

Yeah just go ahead and promptly drink bleach

Because that would show her futa bulge.

Because it's not on cemu. So pcqueers can't play a gimped version and then bitch about it.

>I just beat it and entered the post-game. This is some great shit.
Yeah I'm actually fucking astonished by how much post game content there is.

Mario was so close

>Muh shit post

>"Thank you so much for playing my game!"
I love it every time.

At least post the actual best song in the game user:

What was your reaction when you first heard this?

youtube.com/watch?v=B-kHwRuk9U0

youtube.com/watch?v=HsbPsLllHh4&t

You need to do it to get a moon in the Luncheon Kingdom, I'm surprised no one noticed

See

Whoops.

Because there're far less arguments about the greatness of it.

Is the complete version of the japanese one available anywhere outside the boomboxes in game?

Listening to the Japanese version of this in the Wooded Kingdom is kino

Shit, meant to quote

>YOU GOT ME UP ON THE MOON AND THAT'S NO JEST! WE'RE MILES ABOVE THE REST! LOOK IN YOUR EYES AND I KNOW WE'LL BE FINE! SO SHOOT FOR THE STARS AND MAKE THIS LOVE REALLY SHINE!

I think we all know what they meant by this Sup Forums.

So let's all jump up super high (Jump up super high)
>You know that you're my superstar (You're my superstar)
>No one else can take me this far
>I'm flipping the switch
>Get ready for this
>Oh, let's do the odyssey
What did she mean by this?

>I'll be your one-up girl!

Clearly Mario should dump Peach, especially after that fucking ending

based on the lyrics I assume they really believe that the songs are subtle messages to fans about the current state of Nintendo and how they know everything will be okay thanks to their fans.

Sorry I fucked up there.

*I assume that the songs are subtle messages to fans

>tfw Pauline doesn't recognize Mario
stuckup bitch

I'm pretty sure she does. If she didn't she wouldn't have known his name.

She doesn't seem to recognize him in that first NDC level but she clearly does later, kind of weird.

>No one else can take me this far
>I'm flipping the switch
>Get ready for this

>We're miles above the rest
>Look in your eyes and I know we'll be fine

They know. They fucking know.

She does actually, on the beginning she's worried about other issues.

>"Switch"
>game's on switch
>japanese version of the escape song also throws "Switch" into the lyrics
Genius.

>flipping the switch
>game uses motion controls
Bravo Nintendo

Because Oddysey was a fun game backed with content, no controversy.

BOTW is a literal tech demo with 60% less bosses than other Zelda games

Okay ya'll can call Nintendo fans toddlers all ya want but be honest, when the hell was the last time there was an exclusive game on XBone or Ps4 as magical and full of surprises as this?

I can't even remember the last time I played a game on my Xbox one and enjoyed it for itself and not for the interactions with my friends.

Halo 5 MP is pretty great and the PS4 does have Yakuza and Souls games

you could have also just had a piranha plant shoot at you while standing in front of the torch things

If we're thinking of the same moon, that's how I did it too. Had no idea you could control them.

Most disappointing game of the year. Cemented my belief that Mario died with Galaxy 2

The new Mario game is alright. I can’t say there is anything too amazing about it but it appears to be a solid game.

I say he should go for either Pauline and let Luigi have Rosalina.

loved it

didn't play a 3d mario game since sunshine so it was kind of overwhelming starting it up because everything felt so good to control and do

>entering the movie theater at New Donk City
>the secret block was just an extra-heart instead of a moon

I guess it would be too obscure to get it without extra help, but come on, what a missed oportunity.

>Galaxy 2
>when 3D world completely destroy it

Odyssey is better than BOTW because it doesn't make the player walk through a bunch of empty space between each objective

Pretty typical Mario gamw but devoid of any challenge with a ton of repetitive copy pasted Moons. There's not a lot to talk about. Its jyst moons.

“Dead” has lost its meaning here nowadays. Now it just a buzzword that just means “I don’t like it”

BotW changed the Zelda formula a lot while Odyssey built upon ideas from 64, Sunshine, and Galaxy

64 also has a lot of copy and paste moons yet you fags love that game to death. Sunshine less so but that’s a shit game to begin with.

Mario is not better because most of its content being moons are incredibly lazy and devoid of any feel of accomplishment.

Mario used to be a series where I expected each new game to be unforgettable. Now it's merely passable

have fun with your soystation 4, remember you're missing the best 2 games this year plus a lot others

so just like korok seeds and shrines then?

Series die to me with 2 consecutives duds. 3d world was the first.

>that Lord of Lightning event
>Bowser's Kingdom
>that hype build up to the top
>actually really good and fun boss battle
>Moon Kingdom
>vanilla Bowser lava stage
>slightly improved Bowser fight
>then this music
This game blew my mind over and over in that last quarter.

Mario has always been pretty vanilla what are you on?
I love 3 to death but that's nothing special thematically. You might be cynical on the inside

I'm not talking about because I've not played it because I don't have a switch because I don't have money because I can't get a job because I'm too useless for even walmart

get good

it's on the underground section

This. Not to mention post game.

Sand Kingdom and Metro Kingdom are contenders for my favorite 3D Mario level period. Luncheon, Seaside, and Bowser's Kingdom are also top tier levels in this game

At least Shrines were more interesting than butt stomping glowing spots, female Goombas, kicking rocks, throwing hats on poles, butt stomping rumbling spots, talking to a character in a costume, jumping on top of an umbrella, talking to a Sphinx, simply climbing a tree, etc.

I could go on. It's pretty sad when even post game moons are mostly pretty lazy.

>_____ felt like a sonic game

Cause not a lot of people have a switch, and most used cemu for BOTW.

Switch will be a buy for me when homebrew and piracy is unlocked.

...

No, Galaxy was the best Nintendo game I ever played but it feels like it used every idea they had left for Mario

>It's a warm hug in a sea of darkness

What does that mean?

...

...

Please give Galaxy 2 a go. It tops Galaxy in every way in my opinion. I hope they make an Odyssey 2 that does the same thing (or at the very least free DLC).

Why can I only buy the Waluigi Cap, but not the outfit?

Not him, but I'm interested. I have a Dolphin set-up with a steam controller. The only gripe with 1 is the shit like the marble and the ray never worked, so those stars were impossible.

Odyssey’s pretty creative too with its worlds, I’m not sure what your issue with is besides “NOT MY MARIO GALAXY”

I’d understand if you prefer linear level design more, but so far what I’m understand it’s just “creativity lmao”

BotW reinvented the entire Zelda formula.

Odyssey is just another Mario game. It's fun, it's good, it's exactly what people expect from Mario. No surprises. Just enjoy it and move on to other games.

>reinvinted the entire Zelda formula
How so? And saying Odyssey is just another Mario game is kind of shallow don't you think? The capture mechanics seem just as inventive as anything I saw in BotW personally.

Cappy is just an extra mechanic to Mario's moveset like FLUDD. It's not groundbreaking and it's not going to appear in any future installments. It's just this game's gimmick.

BOTW didn’t reinvent anything but instead returned the series back to how it originated with the original NES games. Odyssey isn’t that different when it’s revisiting the more open sandbox environment gameplay that 64 fostered but hasn’t been revisited after Galaxy.

>Hating on the best song from SMO and made the ending 100% better.
>tfw the song synchronized perfectly with the ending scene.
>too short
Post playtime to get all the 830 actual moons
>much more with capture and movement
The game is pretty much that. You just want more of the same and the game is pretty packed as is.

Your shittaste knows no bounds

I love that doge

Jumping into this thread to say that I got the game last week and it feels like the sequel to SM64 that I've been waiting for since I was six.
