Almost five years later and this is STILL the best game ever made!
Almost five years later and this is STILL the best game ever made!
But it's shit.
I could go on a seven page rant but honestly if some user could just tell me why losing your shield and then regaining it mid-battle has the same screen cracking effect cover 80% of the screen when losing your shield happens with one shot and regaining it happens in ~5 seconds thatd be great.
Whats the design choice there supposed to suggest? Punished for playing the game, and punished for playing the game?
The remarkable thing about Bioshock Infinite is how unremarkable it ended up being in the long run. This is the first time I've seen anyone mention it in ages, while I've heard Bioshock 1 referenced many times. With Bioshock 2 it's understandable how it was forgotten by time (since it's pretty much a new coat of paint on the first game), but Bioshock Infinite saw an initial reaction that made it seem like a lasting force and a game that would leave a legacy, while in the end it's just as forgotten as the game that was never meant to be remembered.
Infinite was mediocre, at best, it literally got way too far up it's own ass and retroactively tarnished the first BioShock by forcibly trying to connect the series.
BioShock 2 was better than Infinite, desu.
Just realised what I should have posted in that "worst game you ever finished" thread
i still don't understand what the fuck super power have to do with bioshock
it was always grounded in reality
why did they make elizabeth and dimension travelling? why did they go over the lines? so stupid
The sky was a great idea for a third bioshock, i loved the universe and concept of everything, i loved COLUMBIA, why does it had to be wasted on a bad game? when they said they had enough cut content to make 10 games, that was heartbreaking. I hate devs proudly saying "YEAH WE CUTTED LIKE 10 GAME WORTH OF CONTENT FROM 1 GAME TO MAKE IT AN HALF-GAME HOPE YOU DON'T MIND WHAT WE'RE GOING TO SHOW YOU BECAUSE THEY'RE BETTER AND MORE AMAZING THAN THE REAL GAMES"
the skyhook in particulars was great.. an amazing concept.
Ken levine literally said he put multiple realities and quantum mechanics shit in precisely because he doesn't understand it and it makes him feel dumb. That's who was directing Bioshock Infinite.
comstock did literally nothing wrong. why was he the villain again? why was it necessary to kys and other numerous people in order to erase comstock from existence?
That's not an argument because Ken Levine was also behind System shock 2 and Bioshock. Dude just lost his touch, that's all.
The old footage from Infinite look much more appealing; those old clips where Saltonstall (?) was screeching "Charles?! Attend!"
Gave the impression that Columbia as a whole was unbalanced. Then the game comes out, and Columbia is just a floating city filled with inter dimensional tears that only one person could see because of "muh pinky"
...
>are you afraid of god?
>no, I'm afraid of you
this is middle school level writing
Say what you will, but Infinite had some amazing aesthetics.
As long as you didn't try and look for details, sure.
WAIT
>Dragon Age II is a 10/10 game
>BioShock Infinite is a 10/10 game
>Fallout 4 is a 10/10 game
>Firewatch is a 10/10 game
This is what video game reviewers actually believe
>Bioshock Infinite
>takes place in the sky
Why is it called Bioshock then? It should be called Skyshock instead.
This is a fucking ancient meme, user.
What probably happened was that Ken had a vague idea of what Infinite would be (it will take place in the sky and have rails, uh, it'll deal with multiverses or something, uh, it'll have a waifu) but he didn't really have a clear vision behind it and 6 years and millions of dollars later they ended up having to release something so Infinite was what we got.
Someone please explain the ending to me, why did they kill you if you become the old dipshit, because if there are infinite universes that means theres an infinite amount of universes where they don't kill you and you make the city
That's some really bad fanart of Elizabeth
You just summed up the biggest plothole pretty much. The game literally tried to justify this by saying there are "Constants and Variables" meaning if they kill you then despite the obvious grandfather paradox it's s constant and you'll be forever dead because they said so.
CONSTANTS AND VARIABLES
It's poor and forced writing, but the general idea was that Comstock was a result of Booker's baptism (which is where the universes diverge: did this Booker do the baptism, or refuse?) , so the logic would go that if Booker were to die during the baptism then no Comstock could ever exist.
Of course this is then later contradicted by a half Booker, half Comstock existing in Burial at Sea, but again, poor and forced writing.
Not the best, certainly not a masterpiece or anything but I like it too, OP.
oh burial at sea, fuck this was terrible. Literally inserting their literally who characters into our old good bioshock because of muh dimension. Terrible.
Like fine wine.
This game suffered the same fate that Resident Evil 5 did. It's not what we were initially promised and was butchered beyond repair. Just because it was kinda fun doesn't mean it was good. It could've been MUCH better.
Because the ending seemed weird and deep. So everyone jumped on the "omg this is so good" ship to prevent looking like a retard. When you look closer its a terrible story.

> Bioshock 2 plot: No/No/Yes/No/Yes
what was wrong with bioshock 2 plot? it was a really good plot. Sinclair is a bro all along and i'm happy that they didn't go "HEY IN FACT HE'S THE BAD GUY" i loved him and was sad to be forced to kill him. and what the relations with bioshock infinite?
The main villain was pretty weak, playing as a big daddy is treated more of a reskin of Jack despite how symbolically important they were in the first game. Also big sisters are kinda dumb.
He was not "behind" ss2, he was just one of a team of writers
And knowing ken being a fucking idiot, he was probably in charge of the ending
>you will never play a pre-fall columbia nior detective story
Imagine when the bulk of the game is walking around interrogating people with only a couple of shootouts. Stuff like racism and manifest destiny are only there for people who look further, instead of being slapping in the face.
Even Elizabeth porn has been on a decline.
NONONONONON YOU JUST DIDN'T UNDERSTAND IT CONSTANTS ANDEQOJBNFDQIOE3UFREQWiughfiuwqjb
big sisters are GREAT
The big daddy are just as symbolically important they are in the first game, the literal main theme of the game is about the bond between a Big Daddy and his little girl, that's why i disagree with this. And, yeah, i'd expect that it's a reskin of Jack considering Big Daddy are just mute. Otherwise, it was the most fun game and emotionally great bioshock - the drill is one of the best weapon i've played with in a videogame, dashing on a monsters never felt so good.
A better question: Would it fix the ending, when you claim that Bioshock Infinite plays in the Steins;Gate universe?
