Starting Changeling route today, what am I in for?
Pathologic/IPL thread
I don't get why people would want to play this game again after getting the true ending and learning the truth.
That being the whole game isn't real and just a shitty analogy for dealing with the death of the two kids uncle/grandfather.
If you love Pathologic, you will like Changeling's story too nuff said
Because the main story aka finding out where the plague came from isn't the only thing that makes me want to play the game. Just learning new shit about the lore and talking to people and enjoying the world and atmosphere is what makes me want to play it after finishing Bachelor story
The game is really just a creation of eight Russians played by an unemployed 20-something in his bedroom. What is one more layer of fiction for that?
Also the characters and lore are fantastic and I got new appriciation for the game after finishing Haruspex a year after doing Bachelor so yeah
I don't know maybe its just my personality but learning that everything you did means nothing because the game itself is just meaningless and the final decision doesn't matter about the town because its not real.
Why care about the lore when the world is just at its core just about those two kids playing in the sand.
It cheapens the game and made me feel like every single emotional moment was nothing.
It made me feel like the whole game was a waste of time since there is no point in saving the town since it just ceases to exist at the end.
Its a shame because up until the true ending I thought it was a great game.
>true ending
there's a true ending?
spoiler that shit for me please
If you save all Bound of another character, you get to talk with Powers That Be - two gigantic children playing in a sandbox. Everyone is a literal puppet in a game played by them, killing time after coming back from a funeral of some relative who died of a plague. You also get to go full existential crisis on some characters, going full pic related at them
If you save ALL the Bound, it goes a step further, you get invited to the Theater where the Masks basicly tell you it's all a poorly-made video game and then ask you, if it means all that you did and lived through is any less meaningful because of that. You can choose to anwser either way, but get an applause for 'getting it' if you say that you still care, you the player, not the character you're playing
that doesnt sound like a cannon ending. I still can enjoy the game as if all of it was real
what i meant by that is that there is way too much lore in it to just be two kids playing in a sanbox
so this ending is just goofy but not to be taken seriously
It's not really an ending, since you still get to choose at the end, same as if you were kept in the dark. It's just an additional scene right before the ending that demystifies all the unanwsered stuff in the game. Especially fun when you go back and listen to all the people complaining they feel like their stomach is full of straw, or realise how all the non-Bound NPC portraits are ragdolls
I kinda agree, especially since sexuality is touched upon quite a bit in the game. But there's also such a shitton of magical thinking in it, that it does seem a bit childish in retrospect
Autism
Who is best boy and why is it Burakh?
>Especially fun when you go back and listen to all the people complaining they feel like their stomach is full of straw, or realise how all the non-Bound NPC portraits are ragdolls
I LOVE Daniil!
No autism is caring about this artsy piece of shit of a game and trying to gleam more from it.
If the Haruspex is the Chad then what the hell is the Changling?
Girl Chad?
I'll add Klara when I beat her route
Warning though when you play her scenario.
She can only use one gun but she can anti-heal people.
But the hardest thing for her is that she has reputation decay.
You always have to be healing people to keep up your rep or you will get hunted Haruspex style.
so like, around what time period is this supposed to be taking place anyway?
Right between WW1 and Bolshevik revolution, but the stuff like antibiotics is rather anachronistic
>tfw stil haven't gotten the soundtrack as a backer reward
>plenty of comments on twitter and the blog saying the same, without answers
I love IPL, but communication really isn't their strong point.
>after living with him for a week, a woman killed herself
Oh no
That's a shame. Not much can be done except keeping on asking though
I just want to give them all a hug
Doesn't look like we're ever getting that playable alpha/beta, huh ?
Doesn't The Marble Nest technically count?
The marble nest was great, but they promised we'd have access to a playable build of the actual game, not to mention alpha and beta access are both in the list of backer rewards.
Not that it really matters that much, but it would still have been pretty neat.
To be honest I'm not even sure I WOULD try the beta, since I don't want any inferior first impressions until we get the real deal.
Any thoughts on the design changes we've seen in 2 so far?
Klara is Plague wizard
I totally want to do a "Chadgeling" pun though
Good thing there's two of them
>tfw you'll never have a qt sister born out of your haphazard lie
One of the central themes in the game is theatre. When an actor portrays themselves in a role we all collectively suspend disbelief and allow ourselves to pretend they are that character. So too is the case in pathologic. You suspend your disbelief and become the bachelor or the haruspex or the chamgeling. The key difference is that pathologic turns a mirror on this idea and asks us why we put so much emphasis on characters we clearly are not and why we care so much. It asks us an important question as to WHY we role play and allows you to answer that. You can save the town the way your character would or if the concept of a malevolent god pissed you off you can let the town rot in its disease.
how do I force myself through the slow parts of Daniil's storyline
I've dropped the game partway through day 2 3 fucking times now
The slog literally ends with Day 3. Just do all the quests, stay in a room and read a book IRL. Or sleep through it in-game if you don't mind Danill being hungry as fuck
Clara is a closet cum slut
Just enjoy the environment and reflect on your life while walking from one NPC to another
This. If anything, Days 1 and 2 being slow are a good pretext to learning the topography and shortest route everywhere. Especially all these fucking fences in Earth district, I wish you could stab the cunts who built them
