How come whereas Asbel will forgive you if you're a villain and promise to do good after defeat, this guy will kill you no matter how much you beg and shit yourself for mercy?

Yet he couldnt kill his girlfriend that was poisoning the planet
The people Yuri kills were never going to change.
He spares Duke. The other people Yuri killed weren't redeemable.
Name a more likeable JRPG protagonist.
PS3 Vesperia fucking when.
This reminds me of the PS3 emulator, can we already play Vesperia on it?
>PS3 Vesperia fucking when
nine years ago
there's a ton of full english guides
there's a website with all the info in english
there's a fucking english patch
Because Asbel's is a fag and a dense enough retard to let an alien stay inside his head. Meanwhile the people Yuri killed were scum who enjoyed watching people suffer and die in horrible ways.
>めんどうくさい
>同じ
>only on pirated ps3 which I don't have
But that admittedly work out, he got Lambda to chill and Asbel got a power boost. Everyone wins.
It's still an abysmally retarded story with bad characters.
Both were hesitant to kill the party members that were causing overarching plot problems and both forgave their final bosses.
Because they were murderers, you can’t undo murder
It was still a pretty fucking big gamble though. But yeah.
Well that's fine if you think so, I didn't find it as horrible as everyone seems to believe it is.
>girlfriend
Lad, he cucked that girl so hard she went gay.
I like it. Graces doesn't fall into the usual tales tropes. It doesn't have a stupid traitor like Alvin or Raven(again i know people are gonna bring up Richard but getting taken over and trying your hardest to resist it =/= betrayal) and it doesn't have summon fetch quests or large mana cannons or stupid boring politics, rather choosing to throw you into the thick of the action. The child arc, and Asbel then has to deal with the concequences with leaving for seven years created an interesting conflict. It's easy to understand why he would want to leave--but you can also understand the frustration of the other characters when their lord just up and dips.
This here suave motherfucker.
...
I love his design desu but it's hard to gleam any personality from a literal silent character.
>design
Nigga he's silent, not dead. You can derive his personality from the choices alone. Also from all the voiced bits. Also from his actions, also from how the other party members see him. You'd need to be a brainlet to think silent characters have no personality.
Also fractured milla best milla.
I could never really put my finger on Yuris character, maybe I need to replay it.
He seemed like a "ends justify the means" dude but stops killing people the second Karol asks him to
He seemed to love Estelle but also seemed indifferent whenever she wanted to leave.
The entire journey in fact, he seemed like he was just along for the ride.
I always felt like he was humoring everyone around him but I never knew what he himself felt. In the credits he visits the graves of those he killed behind Karols back. Did he feel guilty? I never got that impression.
I dunno, he's a bit of a question mark for me.
Why do people want the ps3 version? Do you really want an annoying loli pirate following you around? Wouldn't Flynns story be worse if he was present the whole time?
>He seemed to love Estelle
No. Protective of her due to innocence =/= love.
beacuse asbel is a dumbass who believe friendship will fix everything while yuri is a reallist with his head not stuck in the clouds.
They needed to go more dark imo, the 360 he does when everyone finds out kinda kills his character.
Maybe he kills someone and he finds out later he was innocent, making more realistic when he changes.
>rather choosing to throw you into the thick of the action
Hahahaha. You're not seriously implying this game has any tense, action-packed moments, are you?
You can love someone in a platonic way. My point being she tries to leave a couple of times, each time you can see she wants him to tell her to stay, but his reaction was always "Meh, do what you want"
Which isn't bad, just I don't know whats going on in his head the whole game, save his relationship with Flynn
Xillia 2 is probably my second favorite Tales next to Vesperia and the stylish as fuck designs play a huge part. Shame the series is fucking trash now.
i hate how everything just "worked out" in the end, supporting assbels hypocrisy and behavior. if it was the real world, he would have been fucked.
>"Meh, do what you want"
That seems to be Yuri's philosophy on life. He is a pretty grounded character from the get go.
Yeah, I honestly couldnt tell if he was trying to get Estelle and Karol to grow up or if he genuinely just wasn't that bothered.
>Ofcourse I'll follow your orders Karol, I'm working for you. That means you need to make sure you man up and make the right decisions.
Or
>Eh, fine. I wont kill if you say so, you ARE the boss or whatever...
I don't know which was how he felt
Flynn isn't present the whole time, he joins for a few instances when you ally with him in the story but hes still absent a lot of the time. He doesnt join the party permanently until the very end. Patty actually has one of the best character stories.
Just beat it again for completion's sake, now doing ex dungeon.
The last few chapters just rip my fucking heart out. Feelsiest jRPG I've probably ever played. A part of me knows a Xillia 3 would be overkill and fairly pointless but fuck I just want to meet the characters again after that timeskip.
in before, where is my Tales of Vesperia PS4 remaster of the friking PS3 japanese-only port?
they just need to translate the new content and copy-paste the Xbox translation, for god's sake!
i'm mad
I guess I'm just worried theyll ruin the group dynamic by adding too big a party, which is a problem a lot of tales games have
i suspect they made a deal with Microsoft to not release it in the west. dont get why they cant release it on steam.
>xillia 3
>rowen is fucking dead
I woudn't be able to fucking take it user.
Also I wish the endings were not so shit. I'm not saying it because they were sad or that somebody had to die no matter what but I wish I got a proper ending. Like, show what everyone's doing after everything was said and done, like Xillia 1 did.
That isnt really what I mean. In Graces, you actually get to go through fendel, strata and windor and see how all three countries have reasons to fight and put your team right in the center of the conflict. It's much more enjoyable than say, Vesperia or Abyss, where you hear about wars happening in the past or far off lands, while in Graces you're always smack in the action. it makes it much more exciting and engaging.
>Abyss
B-But user. There was a war in Abyss you were right in the middle of it too.
Yuri killed people who were corrupt with power that would imprison people, make them do slave labor, and or feed them to monsters
His overall goal was to solve the issues affecting innocent civilians, when the opportunity arrived to stop these people once and for all, he took it as he thought it was a necessary evil
Not saying he was right, just that he did what he thought would be the best and efficient way to get rid of the villains
Asbel had always wanted to protect his friends and loved ones, when he noticed Richard was changing into a psycho he wanted to help him but still would fight if necessary because they've been friends since they were kids
Almost all the other villains meet their demise at the hands of another party so its not entirely clear if Asbel would kill someone if it meant protecting someone he cares, hell he didn't even kill Lambda so its hard to imagine Asbel killing anyone or anything
Just a different perspective on problem solving I guess
But that did happen, to an extent.
Rowen's not confirmed dead, he just wasn't mentioned. We know shit's going well like Jude winning the Howe prize so I can assume he's managed to perfect spyrites, Gaius managing to forge a lasting peace/joined parliament and Leia becoming Chief Editor. Shit even Rollo's still alive..
But that's exactly why I'd want a Xillia 3, to see the new world. to be fair there's plenty of plot hooks still. Elle and Eliza adults along with new party members. The Epsilla Ruins in the Prime Dimension gets excavated after that timeskip and some shit still works. Thor goes berserk, starts assimilating people and the old civilization buried there starts fighting back with hi-tech shit out of self-defense.
Asbel is kind of an anomaly since pretty much every other protagonist in the series bar maybe Luca in Innocence rarely spared villains outside of maybe one or two exceptions, who almost always die to a bigger villain immediately after you defeat them anyway.
Even fucking retards like Shing spared no one, unless you're a villain by circumstances you ain't gonna live in Tales games, the problem is that Vesperia has an unusually high concentration of scumbags compared to other games, but Yuri isn't really that different from the average protagonist, he just comes off as a bit of a dick since he's all about "Muh own justice" instead of other things like "Muh KUREA", "Muh Empire", "Muh Racism", "Muh Dad's killer" and so on.
This would have been cool if the actual story behind the conflict was any interesting. But it isn't, and the towns you visit are boring and half-empty. There's not to be engaged with. This isn't some Yasumi Matsuno game where you have all these complicated medieval politics at play. It's a shallow anime plot about some boring-ass war scenario mixed with some goody-two-shoed brat trying to save his friend from being possessed by some edgy failed test subject.
I thought the political story of Graces was actually good. Not only do you see how the political aspects of the game affect the characters as children and adults, the differences of political views the Kingdoms (monarchy, democracy, and technocracy) was well done. And I've never seen a Soviet Russian inspired place done so well in a JRPG as Fendel.
>This isn't some Yasumi Matsuno game where you have all these complicated medieval politics at play.
>Matsuno
>Complicated medieval politics
Here's every Matsuno game ever
>Oh hey, here's these bunch of lords warring against each other
>And you serve one of them, he's a good guy
>No wait he isn't
>Oh shit, they're all a bunch of self serving mustache twirling villains, who would have thunk it
>Also the Church is the bigger evil guize, bet you didn't see that
>Oh wait, it was The Demons™/The Dark™/The Elder Gods™ doing all along guize, what a tweest
>Here's a token morally grey villain too, enjoy
name 1 person yuri killed that didn't deserve it
He's just a carefree person and it shows. That's the best part about him really.
...
If only the devs cared about anything but Demon Souls ..
Or making P5. A game that came out this year and is readily available everywhere playable just so they can make more money.
>steam
NEVER FUCKING EVER
EOP LOSERS LOSE AGAIN, SUCK IT
I so want to replay vesperia, but I also don't want to hack my ps3. I hate this. The game's over 10 y/o already, release it to ps4 dammit
>I thought the political story of Graces was actually good.
No, it isn't. It's dumb and shallow and you're overselling it by a mile and a half.
I was more so comparing the war scenario and world building rather than discussing the plot. Yeah, admittedly, Matsuno's plots always seem to boil down to "it was le ancient demon possessing them all along!" bullshit. But hey, at least the buildup is entertaining in its own right. You have stuff like the war between Duke Larg and Duke Goltanna's factions in FFT. The Walister, Galgastani, and Bakram fighting over Valeria in Tactics Ogre. Hell, even Archadia versus Rozarria would have been good if FFXII's development didn't shit the bed.
Best Tales game.
feels good learning how to abuse the tension skills and doing a mysic arte without manually going into OVL
Vesperia has the best gameplay, followed closely by Hearts R, Rebirth and Destiny DC, but in terms of characters and stories I prefer Rebirth, and even Hearts R to an extent when it comes to characters, outside of people like Shing or Chalcedony, though I can say the same thing for characters like Carl or Estelle in Vesperia.
HE WAS RIGHT TO KILL RAGOU AND CUMORE
symphonia, zestiria, and berseria arent even available for purchase on the japanese steam store. fuck bandai namco
He was.
Well, the Symphonia port sucks ass and Zesteria is shit, so missing out on all of those besides Berseria isn't too bad.
Who'd want to play the beta version again.
Beta version on Xbox one X?
Yuri killed a dude who fed people to monsters for fun and a corrupt knight who killed civilians. Both were doing so out of thier own selfishness.
>Cumore starts begging for Yuri to throw the rope
Was genuinely hoping for Yuri to throw the entire rope down without it being tied on to anything.
Flynn watched him kill the knight and didnt do anything to stop him
PC Graces f when? I've gotten a massive itch to replay the game last night and I have no idea where my PS3 is
...
Graces is shit. Play a better Tales game, at least.
Yuri was a military man and saw the shit people do.
He's not new to the whole killing people, and if the intro of Vesperia is to be believed, for causing trouble too.
He's old too, so he has an authoritative stance too, to nurture the young 'uns and see their growth.
When shit gets real, he rarely relies on anyone but himself to get the job done, solo-ing the guy that stole the Water Blastia, solo-ing Estelle at the end and being the first guy to jump on the platform as it was rising.
Nobody ever calls him out on it though, because he always succeeds when he does it too.
He's a good character, not usually a main character, but his representation in the series bode well for making him likable, even though he was the only other fun guy to play as other than Repede.
i just want to play the games shit or not. if these games dont become available then what are the chances of the other ones if they ever release them for the pc
Also, his default AI will target strongest first, reflective of his role in the party to always be the one people count on the most
I like that he doesn't have the Tales protag moveset instead Flynn the goody two-shoes has the sonic thrust stuff.
Thinking back on it, he was kind of a boring antagonist. I felt like he barely even tried to stop the party until the moment he attacked Titania.
If the people that Yuri assassinated went through the basic boss battle+disney death cutscene that JRPG villains typically go through, no one would care.
> I also don't want to hack my ps3
hacking game consoles is more fun than most of the games on the game consoles imo
Half of the whole point of his development and relationship to the ongoing conflicts was exploring the inefficiencies and failures of standard legal investigation and prosecution, juxtaposed with the destruction wrought by wanton vigilante murder, especially when Estelle's magic and the giant squid thing and all that shit come roaring back for Act 3.
Sure half of the solution boiled down to your standard "new thing unfucks all the bad shit" that comes with Tales games, but sometimes you just gotta roll with the punches.
>to nurture the young 'uns and see their growth.
That's not what Yuri does though, there's other characters in the series that do so, like Will, Eugene, Malik or Galad, who are all actual older men.
Yuri doesn't really give too much of a shit about what the younger people in the party do, if anything he likes to tease them, like Rita or Carl, he's more of an "older brother" kind of guy but he doesn't really want to nurture anyone like the other characters I mentioned do.
Eugene's whole role in the party was being a father figure to Mao and Annie, and that also lead to family related problems, with Annie being wary of Eugene for a good part of the game due to various plot reasons I won't spoiler, Will is THE father figure in Legendia since he is a dad and everyone else is a lot younger than him, Malik is seen as a reliable adult and teacher in Grace and he cares a great deal about Asbel growing up to be a respectable man with principles, Galad literally joins the party on a whim in Tales R because Kohaku reminded him of his daughter, and he and Innes are basically chaperoning the children around, with everyone else in the game included Kunzite coming to seek advice from them.
Yuri does hardly any of the above things, there's no real old man dynamic in Vesperia, outside of Raven, who's not even an actual old man archetype like the others I mentioned.
The Cless moveset archetype has long stopped being a thing, the only ones who can actually classify are Stahn, Reid, Lloyd and maybe Veigue, hardly any protagonist has the actual Cless signature moveset, especially when you consider Cless was the one who had things like Swallow kick, which pretty much only Stahn has.
I just realized there's some kinda bait in these games huh
Vesperia: yuri bait
Graces: yaoi bait
Xillia 2: pedo bait
Berseria: SS bait
pray that the switch project is a Vesperia port
>Vesperia: yuri bait
No wonder Vesperia is the best.
I'm not gonna lie I'd honestly be more content with even just a 360 Vesperia port to Switch than an original project.
It will be Tempest R
Fuck off nigga, i want a new project not some port everyone who cared about would have already played.
I would unironically be okay with this. The R games are awesome.
xillia 2 is kinda yaoi bait too
Combat was fun and that's literally all that matters to me. Sophie was fun as shit to play
Nope, combat doesn't stop you from veing forced to take in the shitty plot and annoying characters
they could have done so much more with the political and culture side of the story but the devs clearly didint want to and focused instead on asbels story and friendship.
Hnnngh, strong daddy Bisley~
couldn't you skip cutscenes in Graces?
Considering Innocence R was good and Hearts R was fantastic, I don't doubt that it will be at the very least good if they let the same people who worked on the R games do it, and after all we need a closure to the whole Trigate shenanigans with Kongwai, QQ and Galad.
The problem is that Tempest was pretty bad all around, I don't know whether I really want to sit down through Caius' game again unless it's completely different in plot too, hell Caius never moved from the bench in RM3 because that's how much I care about him.
Honestly, I'd rather like a game about all the Trigate travellers at this point, though seeing them in a different world would be pretty weird, especially for Galad.
>Vesperia: yuri bait
And yet so little estelle yuri art and alot yuri yaoi art
