I edited the files to give myself 24 inventory slots and not 16, the other 8 are offscreen but still usable because part of them peeks out into the main screen. Other than that and editing stack limits to lessen the grind and a speedup mod, I have nothing else changed. Had to switch to windowed to take the screenshot.

Restart, you're still early enough that you can get back to where you were. I'm on week 25 and have like 6 heroes dead already on Darkest.

Got this game on the sale. How punishing is it really? I'm one of those guys that doesn't like losing progress/people in games. I'll restart a DS character if I fail to recollect a soul drop. Am I punished for playing super cautiously and slowly?

I don't think this is the game for you friend.
You absolutely will have people die, and the game eventually will even force this as well as essentially force you to abandon maxed characters multiple times.

Everyone plays super cautiously and slowly because you have to. The game will remind you anyways.

The nature of the game is that probably at some point the stars will align against you and you'll eat shit i.e miss loads of crucial attacks in a row, get critted a lot, and fail to resist status effects all at once. Most of the time you can avoid this if you're sensible though and you can usually decide to just run away if things are going badly.

I'll give you a scenario here and tell me if this would make you quit a game.

>you of course use him to heal the near death character
>not only does he roll a 0 on his heal, he inflicts a debuff on the near death character that causes damage at the start of said characters turn
>near death character goes next
>the debuff applied by your healer ticks and kills him

Does that sound like something you can deal with?

There's already a reinforcement mechanic if you dillydally too long over a fight, being able to lock down remaining enemies for a couple of turns whilst you take a breather is perfectly legit.

I lost my front Houndmaster to a critical Blight from the Shambler because Tentacles kept focusing him down. Then I got Ancestor's Bottle. Then I clicked End Quest before I could click to collect all loot. Time to restart and make my way back to Week 25. Again.
