PC gaming kind of sucks

>most of the newer games worth playing are riddled with DRM and microtransactions
>most of the older games are a chore to get working, some don't even work at all
What the fuck happened to PC gaming? It didn't used to be like this. No wonder consoles are winning, you either spend more time trying to get a game working than you do actually playing it, or you bend over and let Gaben fuck you in the ass.

aren't you buying this on steam?

why would you care about DRM in that case?

Pic isn't mine. And no, I don't buy anything from Steam because I like actually owning my games on physical media that some fat fuck can't prevent me from accessing.

>naming your DRM "DRM Free!"

Whatever russian hackers programmed that DRM had a sense of humor, I guess. Also the DRM probably cost more than the indie dev is going to make lifetime, I mean who the fuck pays for a DRM to protect their AT FULL PRICE $15 game?

Or maybe it's really DRM Free and the dev was being cheeky

>whines about DRM
>doesn't understand that a console IS DRM

kys

Impypling console games arnt riddled with "X" and shitty performance?

>No wonder consoles are winning
You actually think that?

That's what it is but neo Sup Forums can't recognize a joke anymore. Space Rangers 2 removed its drm in 2011 or so.

You can pirate them if you don't like DRM

steam is drm

>most of the older games are a chore to get working, some don't even work at all
happens every few versions of windows, water is wet etc

winning fucking what

there's no fighting
there's no war
no battle

fuck me dead "winning" fags need to be euthanized

>most of the older games are a chore to get working
gog exists, emulators exist, google exists
meanwhile on consoles you're at the mercy of your sony/microsoft overlords if you want to play games from previous generations

Hol up.
Isn't online services for consoles DRM?

Not him, but you don’t? They are still here in 2018 after all.

>fuck me dead

All console games by definition have DRM.
Not online DRM but they do stop you from copying the games and the end result is that you might lose those games.

>you're at the mercy of your sony/microsoft overlords if you want to play games from previous generations

Eh, im happy with my lot. Got an N64 in a drawer too if i want to get it out quick.

>muh drm
>uses steam
>any platform 'winning' anything

Kill yourself.

>end result is that you might lose those games.

Where? You mean like stolen or some shit?

So are PCs

PC’s specifically have uses outside of playing video games though.

And?

So PC’s will always exist. They have too many uses. Consoles NEED to be able to play games.

Stolen, scratched, unable to use the drive to read em.
As soon you can't read the disc, you lost the game.

consoles are winning because its gaming simplified and specifically targeted at mass consumer base where pc is geared towards the enthusiast niche.

still pc blows consoles out of the water but thats purely my tastes.

and now more and more consoles are becoming even more expensive than PC because the console space is dominated by AAA publishers whose main agenda is milking the shit out of consumers. its fucking sad that consoles, the main foundation of gaming, is being milked to death by greedy compaines.

But we're talking about gaming here. Gaming PC hardware is mord popular than ever, even with the prices as high as they are now. Your point makes no sense. Consoles and gayman PCs will always be around.

>indie dev is dumb and don't know how to set his product page
Wow, breaking news!

>you either spend more time trying to get a game working than you do actually playing it

>this is what console fags think

No, you don't. Even if you trying to pirate a game, it is easy as fuck.

but you still dont actually own the game

DRM is *digital* righs management, consoles still have the physical market.

Who is gonna take them away from me?

Seems like a pain to me... i just put my disc in to play SH2 & 3

DRM encompases physical discs too numbnuts
Just because you have the disc does not mean you own the game

Can still do what i like with these. They cannot be revoked.

>muh consoles are winning
>muh online crusade NOOO
fucking brainlet OP

>implying drm hasn't been a think on pc games since the very fucking start
it's a thing that dates back to before the nes was released.

Why would you use a japanese game as an example of how hard pc gaming is? Those nips fucking hate pc and simply do not give a fuck. 90% of their pc ports hardly work at all on release, on the systems meant to run them.

but they can and will physically deteriorate eventually to the point of disrepair

Because it's the only sort of examples that work with his argument.

here's a semi related steam question.

How retarded is steam?

out of the video games i've bought over the holiday sales, every single fucking game i installed was 1/2 to only 3/4 the install steam SAID it was going to be.

i'm installing a 20 gb game... that's only needing 10 gb right now. and it's almost finished installing already.

do valve just sort of imagine a big number and decide that's how big game X is?

Because they are the only games worth playing.

...

I can't remember the exact reasoning but they need more space than they take to install for some reason, like that much space is used during the installation process but then the finished product isn't actually that big

name FIVE (5) kino tier western games please. I'm waiting.

>Space Rangers 2
should I get this? 500 hours on KB Armored Princess.

...

i am

>Console is DRM
>I don't know what the fuck I'm talking about.
A console is not ***DIGITAL*** Rights management, I can insert my disc into my PS4 and play my single player game without any license verification from Sony, or anything in else in almost every case (Unless the game requires online services, such as MonHun).

By your logic a PC is DRM because you need to buy something to play the game hurr durr hurr durr go fucking kill yourself.

Are you literally fucking retarded?

>prevent me from accessing

Literally never happened to me nor anyone I know in all of steam's history.

I'm on my PC every waking moment I'm not at uni basically. If a game is on PC I'll buy it there since it will be objectively (slightly) better and I don't have to start some other shitbox.

That's why I'm a console gamer only bruh

I simply don't have the patience anymore for BS troubleshooting.

Based

>nigger
>no patience
You don't say

You mad white boy?

>Space Rangers 2 removed its drm in 2011 or so.

it was a russian rootkit invasive DRM StarForce

>all those multi plats

I can't believe ppl are still triggered by these old as fuck images

The installsize also includes stuff like DirectX.

Yes.

goddamn i wanna be mad but you honestly have good taste
>borderlands 2
well, mostly good taste

Yes, reddit, anyone who uses "nigger" is LE TRIGGERED SNOWFLAKE THE REAL SJW

still triggered I see, and still falling for stale bait

I keep hearing things like this but it never makes sense to me? What exactly do you do that makes you think you'd get your games taken away?

its time to educate yourself son, consoles have been and always will be a corporate milking ground with only 2-3 big players in the market at any time.

lol why are you playing shooters on a console you dumb nigger

Hahaha you call that a collection.
I have over 50 ps3 games and a mint condition ps3 that I was able to get from a mom and pop store.

Maybe there should be an actual joke rather than some literal who dev thinking they're a hero for only using one layer of DRM (steam).

1 (one) good exclusive

Can you open up the games files on a console to do anything like modding? No. There's a million other things that make something locked down DRM other than just 'muh disks'

I played through the Silent Hill series on PC last year. It's nowhere near that complicated. Just install, download and run the fix, then play. If you can't figure that out then you're a lost cause and should stick to mobile phone games.

>console breaks
>can't play video games anymore

>most of the older games are a chore

>402600272
>most of the newer games worth playing are riddled with DRM and microtransactions
>DRM
And those never existed before.
>microtransactions
And console gaming isn't?
>most of the older games are a chore to get working, some don't even work at all
Sucks to be you then. Bet you don't even want to play them if 5-10 minutes of googling is a "chore".
4/10 b8, made me reply. No (You) for you though.

and yet there's denuvo and uplay on top of steam itself which is just ass

It's excellent, it has space combat and upgrading, but the real strength is in the text adventure like missions. If you weren't here for the prison cockroach racing or space presidential candidate threads you missed out.

My guess is the they compress the file and extract it once its been downloaded.

>don't buy anything denuvo
>denuvo eventually goes away

If only people followed this simple logic.

It's just pure paranoia they've gotten form exaggerations and misinformation because they're too fucking lazy to actually look up what happens when you get a vacban.

>there are new games worth playing

Hah look at this fag and laugh.

I do. Honestly theres so much stuff to play it doesn't affect me at all.

>A system of DRMs interlinked within DRMs interlinked within DRMs interlinked within one game.

I'm sorry you're retarded friendo
I stopped playing games on PC at around 2008 and waited for steam to get really good and streamlined because I was tired of the hassle of having to do fixes and workarounds and crawl up a game's asshole 20 times to make it work, not even gonna mention the old as shit games I had to pirate because I couldn't find them anywhere and had to go through hell to make them work on new software.
Nowadays steam is such a relief that I'm just literally 2 clicks away from playing the game, which is what I always wanted, not the fucking hassle. I got all dawn of war games and it takes me 5 minutes to download and install a game with 3 expansions and get playing, instead of a fucking day of tinkering around with shit.
not even a shill but goddamn, when I was a kid and steam didn't exist I legit hoped that someone would invent something like it one day, one place where I could have all my games, get them from anywhere I am in teh world, have all my saves there and not have to worry about shit. then I get retards like you with MUH PHYSICAL COPIES!! grow up man

buy a console then peasant.

I only buy physical on console because there this is actually a legitimate fear, on PC it isn't. Steam has been around for more than 14 years now and they've never taken away people's games. In that same time Sony, Microsoft, and Nintendo have taken away people's digital games through hardware upgrades. MS is slowly giving them back but not all 360 games work yet.

you're not even close to baseline

>most of the older games are a chore to get working, some don't even work at all
I actually haven't had this problem since getting Windows 10. With 7 and 8 it was a nightmare getting some older games (C&C etc) to work. I haven't had anything fail for me on 10.

>modern games
>worth playing
thanks for the laugh, op

>Can't pirate any new games worth playing
>Can't play any old games

woah

The Turok 2 remaster is.

OP you are mentally retarded. I can't even remember the last time I tried to play an old game and it didn't work.

As opposed to consoles, which are inherently hardware DRM

>neo Sup Forums
Boy, that's a word I haven't heard in a long time. Sometimes, the timeless quality of this place is reassuring.

Not a modern game.

Improper English + steam (which is DRM) = not a joke, just retardation.

It only came out a year or two ago.

>1998 was a year or two ago

>people born a year or two after 1998 are able to openly post their age on this site

No it isn't

Try to play any Steam game without having Steam open.
