ITT: Wake-up call bosses

ITT: Wake-up call bosses

Post bosses that fucked up a lot of people for some reason. Starting off with the obvious.

...

Fucking this one. She wasn't ridiculously hard, but was much harder than what most of the game had thrown at you so far, to the point where she felt like a bullshit boss. I actually felt challenged and wish the rest of the game was more like this battle

...

...

>nice elemental and almighty attacks you got there, bro

BALS
TO
THE
WALL

It wasn't that hard, still fun though

What's worst in your opinion for a boss to have, Sup Forums?

>annoying attack that can one shot you whenever he wants
>way more health than necessary
>heals self constantly

First time you fight Dhoulmagus he will push your shit in if you aren't prepared

Spawns in minions that don't give any experience or items for killing. Even worse if the minions can heal/buff the boss

>boss selects "all of the above"

and that's when I became an expert tile dancer.

delet

first or third one
Its annoying when the boss battle essentially ends up either your party or the boss repeatedly healing the damage you just dealt each other ad nasuem

Strange Journey's spin on this where the boss ate his underlings but their status carried over was neat.

That's fine as long a the healing is kept within reason/buffs aren't retarded 75% damage/defense type shit. It gives a reason to still value multi-target abilities when in general boss fights are where the real challenge of games is, so multi-target is really only 'make easy trash fights easier'.

>yfw 'Total Annihilation'

I struggled with jetch way more than this guy, I actually had to reload an old save and grind up to have a chance

Literally designed to assrape people who try to play BB like they played DS, also the hardest soulsborne first boss by far. In fact, all other first bosses in the series look like fucking jokes in comparison to him.

It's less of a wake up call and more "here, have this fucking shitty character forced on you". I would argue it's the first real boss fight in Suikoden 2, though.

>pretends to play by the same rules your character does, but then doesn't

...

I had trouble with Jecht too and beat him by barely overpowering his first form and then using all my money so Yojimbo can insta kill his second form.

...

And if you thought Odin was too easy, how about this one?

C and this game's "adamantoise"

his fucking song and backstory are just as great too. it’s pretty rare to find something so perfect.

Screamed my ass off the first time I ran into im, fucking level 27 with nowhere to really grind. Was a magical time though, the game just clicks into place afterwards and makes things much easier.

Fuck these.

Isn't the cleric beast the first boss?

Psh. Nothing personal, kid.

>boss is several small enemies that revive each other if they aren't killed at the exact same time
>game has damage variance

Where the fuck is Crow?

...

>Whats wrong? Oh you've been ignoring the CQC mechanic? Learn fast little bitch nigga

Yes. That fucking fag.
My playthrough of the PC version was my 3rd playthrough in total, last played it as a kid but I did remember that using the ability to skip combat too much would eventually get me fucked, so this time I didn't use it much. Still got rekt by him once because I forgot about that super strong attack he does later on.
The worst is that 3 hours long cutscene before the fight. Man fuck that.

Could be worse. It could be Earthbound style.

Cleric Beast is often the first boss people encounter, but he's actually optional, you can leave him to post-Bloodmoon, but night time Cleric Beast is best atmosphere.

Gascoigne is the first mandatory boss. I'd actually say Bloodstarved Beast is the wake up boss, he's #1 Scrubstomper, he's flailing around and screaming so hard that people are too intimidated to realize you just walk to the left of him and he can't hurt you except with poison AoE.

You can encounter either of those first.
The game funnels you towards Cleric so its the first boss for most players.
Cleric is ab optional boss however, so Gascoign is the first mandatory boss in BB

Until you learn the power of rock.

This. Fuck this thing. All 3 battles.

Fuck buu in budokai 3

She is the final boss, right?
I got stuck there like a year ago and just removed the game

You are all little babies.

Gaze upon my splendor.

I agree with this statement.

BSB is the boss that teaches you to be aggressive
FG is the boss that teaches you to parry

once you learned about the rock any fight there just kinda fell apart.

Once you know the trick the fight becomes super easy.

yes, for the neutral ending. I actually managed to kill her underlevelled thanks to Hilda

>Who would win
>A master samurai in a full armor set with bonuses and his ancestral weapon
>OR
>One rockyboi

Shiggy was much harder in the demos with all his hyperarmour. Now he can get staggeed by a regular low stance fast attack kusa combo.

Who's that? The wall in the temple?

Nah, you just need to spam fire spells. Kahn's Resurrection rune is also very good against the abomination (except for the laughably weak lv1 spell). Suikoden bosses are embarrassingly easy.

Holy shit this.

What's the rock?
>Fred Y
Fuck, they sure loved forcing that guy on you

That's most fights in this thread desu.

It's a literal boulder at the side of the map you can walk around. The ai just gets stuck spamming it's attacks at the boulder if you walk around it.

Miguel is just a trap most players fall into because you're almost guarantee to have two black innate characters in a fight against a white innate boss who can do serious damage. Not to mention you really havne't bothered with the Element Field up to that point.

Nah this guy is doable because it's just a matter of buffs and devuffs, odin is just a pain because hope has shitty low tier health and dies way too fast plus you don't have access to a lot of buffs

>Where the fuck is Crow?

we left to escort some prisoners out

I have a Plat in this game and I'll tell you right now this boss right here ain't shit compared to the combo boss fights you fight later and in the abyss. The 999th floor boss combo is actually fucking horse shit to deal with

Yeah, Demon's Gate. Not exactly "hard" but a wake up for a first time player because he

>is the only enemy in the entire game with high MDef, meaning magic spam isn't an option
>fast and has a high attack stat
>is scripted to do certain attacks at various HP thresholds, most attacks hit all characters

Mind, his HP is "only" 10,000 so if you have strong limit breaks he doesn't really last long.

>the abyss
>wake up call boss
>abyss

This isn't a 'hardest boss in game' thread, just the wake up call. Most people cruised right past Onryoki and get btfo'd by Shiggy-dono hyper armor iai'ing them the first few times.

Is that why he fucking killed me 10 times before I molotov’d his ass? Goddamn asshole

People generally have leveled up weapons and shit for the other bosses but it's easy to stumble into Papa G with base weapons and get blown the fuck out.

This was the only boss that was hard in this game (maybe Yunalesca as well if you are a brainlet).

>Final boss
>Wake-up call

BREAK YOURSELVES UPON MY BODY.

the only shit that fucked me up was the goddamn mosquitoes. Those things fucking shredded me.

It happens

My issue was that I could easily wear him down to half but when he went beast mode he kept spamming his jump and one shotting me to death

I never understood how this boss was considered hard
>years before my brother was at this boss and couldn't pass him
>i almost never touched the game and try to beat him for him
>beat him on my first try

why do you have to lie on the internet, user?

But i'm not lying.
It made me wonder if i was just good or got lucky.
I don't even remember the fight at all now.

You can cheese him like a huge pussy by running up the stairs to fuck with his AI pathing, or even jump off the little roof over and over to hit and run him.

Fun boss because of lots of viable tactics.

You grind out at all? If people just kept moving forward for story alone and didn't do any serious grinding, he was a bit of a pain. Evrae was probably my biggest pain my first time through.

>first and second bosses are the hardest in the game

>enter timewalking or leveling new character
>this guy shows up
>always ends up with 3/5 people dead
Can't blame them, this guy is so fucking vague the first time you meet him in nu-wow and the game is too rushed down to even attempt to figure it out since you can solo him

In the demo you could OHKO him barehanded though, too bad they nerfed the hell out of it in release.

This boss fucked over the "run away from every battle" players. Not too bad if you played the game like you're supposed to, but he's about the first boss in the game that really required you to be a higher level.

That was my brother save so i don't know if he grinded or not.
But with how easely i beated him i think my brother just sucked at the game, his party was doing decent damage and wasn't being hit too hard.

I almost forgot, I remember cheesing him, but I forgot how.

DANCE WATER DANCE

Eh, escaping from her wasn't that bad. Killing her is a different story though.

>no one wants to admit how badly Murai dumped cummies in them

Jej

...

*randomly abducts you*
*heh...time for a boss kiddo*

That fucking worm
Holy shit

>Be 13 years old
>Several bosses in this game were hard as fuck (Because I wasn't paying attention to the obvious tricks that you were supposed to follow for each one.)
>Also, got to the optional bosses and thought they were manditory for the main game somehow

It's safe to say that my cousin and I got our money's worth on FFX.Shame they don't make games that have the same feel as FFX does the first time you play through it.

>that one boss whose gimmick is being weak to that useless status condition that never works on bosses

This little shit

>eagle and worms
>not pic related

Sorry, user. The ice fucker wins out no matter what.

SORRY BOSS FIGHT NOW THAT THE TRAINS FROZEN

>deadlocks multiple unions
>mass aoe attacks that can hit multiple unions
>free attack at the end of each turn after opening

such bullshit

...

uuh not vague just read the dungeon journal

Not sure if actually a rough boss but gave me a lot of trouble back in the day.

He really pissed me off.

*opens your heart*

>follow farming guide as I was going for 100% achievements
>every single fight in the game is trivialised because you're minmaxed beyond belief

This motherfucker is just designed for assrape.

The entire game was bullshit.
You grind, you're fucked, you don't grind, you're fucked.
What is the middleground in it anyway? It doesn't seem to matter what you do, you're going to get fucked at some point anyway.

the one in chain of memories after destiny islands as well

fuck right off
