>game has points of no return
Game has points of no return
>every checkpoint is a point of no return
>you don't realize it
>it blocks you from getting the 100% completion
>only other option is to play the game from the start again
>game let's you go everywhere and do everything right from the start
>You never get a sense of progression
>game has open world elements but they never really get used since there is one obvious path
>game has few or no points of no return
>you can level the shit out of your character/party, go collect the best equipment, turn around, go back to the starting area and beat up the faggot who called you weak at the start of the game
this is a great feeling
>playing through D44M
>pick up whatever collectables I can along then way, then go back and find the rest of the secrets before ending the level
>on Kadingir Sanctum
>get to end of the level
>go to start backtracking through the level
>door is now closed, blocking me from leaving the final zone of the level
>have the fully restart the level, which took like 3 hours for some reason for me
I know it doesn't really count and I may just be bad at video games but it really fucking pissed me off, especially when every other level before that allowed me to backtrack, along with the entirety of the fucking DOOM franchise, every level let you fuck around after killing everything and getting to the end to find all the collectables.
>open the game map
>wow! this is huge!
>the player is shoehorned down a specific path and 1/3 of the map is impassable terrain
>open world game
>half the map is just big impassible mountains with nothing on them
...
>game has automatic save checkpoints that overwrite save files
>press the 'load last save' button instead of the 'quicksave' one by accident
>game doesn't let you save whenever you want
>quicksaves right before dying
>Quicksave a mere split second I get mauled by a monster
>quicksave while falling down a shaft
>game has quicksave button
>it doesn't actually have a quicksave slot, so it creates a new file every time you save
>Game has a point of no return right near the end
>It's very adamant about it
>The game is like 50 hours long, and a sense of finality hangs in the air when the game asks you if you want to continue
>Hidden strong items are available from relatively early in the game
>Missing them means having to beat a superboss to get them later in the game
>time progresses after you do something
>game warns you everytime
That surely doesnt completely defeat the purpose of that am i right?
Why do so many pictures of cats being sad exist on the internet?
Because cats are cute.
>game doesn't let you start over and do things the right way
They’re very expressive animals, and also meme status.
Fucking Dark Dawn
>game has permanently missable upgrades
>in a game without points of no return
Fuck you Minish Cap. I'm still assmad about the Light Arrows to this day. Why have permanently missable upgrades in a fucking Zelda game?
Cats have clairvoyance and seen whats going to happen to all of us.
>game gives you rewards that can be used in a new game+
>you can't increase the difficulty of new game+
>last save is 10 hours ago
This. Open world sandboxes can be extremely disheartening in this regard. Zero sense of purpose to be there.
>game has a stoner doom soundtrack
Pic unrelated
Fuck me I hate this so much
Happened to me yesterday while playing Quake 2 expansion, hod to turn godmode on for a few seconds or lose hours of progress. Felt really bad about turning godmode on to survive that hit, I still feel like a cheater.
I too have just played Nier Gestalt.
>Collectible before point of no return
>If you do main quest you miss side quest
>miss something
>get horrible anxiety
>stop playing the game and do something completely linear like a VN instead so I don't have to worry
>VN has a split where one option gives you an extra CG while another option gives you more affection points
God, even knowing I had more endings to do the first time I got to Shadowlord’s Castle in NieR was painful for this exact reason
>multiplayer trophies/achievements
>Are you sure you want to continue? (You will not be able to return for a long time)
>want to 100% a game you are thoroughly enjoying
>multiplayer trophies
>servers have been dead since the 4th month after release
>need to get to level whatever the fuck, which takes more than a hundred hours to reach
>No NG+ or warp back to overworld before final sequence
Sounds like mafia ii. So much wasted potential.
New Vegas. Inb4 babbies.
>boss starts duel wielding
>Game can be beaten in 3 minutes by punching the spooky looking guy and hiding behind random villagers as he throws fireballs at you
>They all aggro on him and beat the shit out of him
>game lets you go almost everywhere and do everything from the start
>the game actually has points of no return with little indication of which quests/items/etc you can no longer get
Wombo Combo my dude.
Is this Gothic 3 or Two Worlds 2?
and that is why Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim Special Edition is the best game
>you have to pixel hunt for certain items
>Sounds like mafia ii.
warrior within
>game has a time limit/timed events
>forced to choose which side things you want to do, leaving others undone
Two Worlds 1
>Forced to play minigames to advance
>MG42 performs better than the vickers
>enemy uses throwing knifes
>katana arent useless
>game addresses the horrors of the boeren concentration camps
>the 100 year war is called a french victory
>boss fight goes on for about 15 minutes
>drink last health potion
>both of you are on 10% of healthy
>something flickers near the bottom of the screen
>boss starts regenerating health
>make a savepoint in case you want to see how the game ends by making different choices
>autosaves close to the end
>Game has an upgrading system
>If you don't get the mirror shield before some arbitrary point you never can
Light arrow wasn't the only thing. I share your pain.
Just like real life
You didn't take time out of your busy quest to help an ailing man. Some "hero".
>game bugs so you can't progress
>Game has a point of no return
>Get your ass reamed by the boss on the other side so have to reload a save and fix your setup, then go through it again
>game has furballs you want to hotglue
Fucking anor londo
Man Dragon's dogma had this issue real bad which wasnt helped due to its piss poor save system
>boss dismisses british tanks
...
The only time this bullshit is acceptable is when it lets you know ahead of time, so you can go back before letting it ruin your 100%.
What game is this?
just looked up the vid, thats fucking hilarious
Delet tis
>point of no return
>have to beat 2 bosses in a row
>both have annoying armor shit
Crash twinsanity for me, i missed the first gem and you can't get it back.
>Boer camps are a myth
>but I wish they weren't
...
Listen here, you'd better delete this. Right now.
sorry.
witnessed
I don't play games because they are like real life, I play them to escape my suffering
There is no point o no return in anor londo, you can go back by the bat deamon
Metroid Prime bosses
