This. Completely different game playstyle required, but it's great.

Try Antibirth and Masochist Chronicles, they are isaac mods. Anti is getting an update next month that fixes bugs and adds sinergies.

I haven't played those 2 games enough to judge whether they're casual or not but they sure are boring.

You move and fight to the beat of the song, theres a rhythmless mode but its not as fun

Crawl kind of has this feel, the take it has though is if you die you then get to control monsters and try to kill the current human to regain humanity, its pretty fun even with npcs

i tried to like this game but it just isn't fun. the music isn't even that great either (at least not at the start, which is all i played because it's boring)

Full Mojo Rampage is good.

At first it is but once you get the feel of it and the way monsters also move and attack with the beat it starts to feel pretty natural. Again, there's a rhythmless mode where you can move and attack regardless of the beat

It's difficulty curve is too high. All the other characters are much more difficult than Cadence without anything fun, so there's no reason to play as them. I gave up after Zone 4, because having to go through all that, then Dead Ringer, then the Necrodancer without any healing items just isn't fun. I'm not interested in playing the same mode over and over with no reward.

It's not really the same sort of game as BoI, but Warframe matches your criteria pretty well and has a lot of little fiddly bits to unlock if that's your jam. Plus it's co-op by default.

There's a steam tag called "rogue-like" but it's just the surface shit for plebs, the real games are of the genre called "roguelite". Look it up.

Risk of Rain, Rogue Legacy, Nuclear Throne.

Nuclear Throne is prolly the best out of the 3. Hard core, intense action. It gives you the same feeling Hotline Miami does, but 100x better. Gives me a massive adrenaline rush.

Another rogue-like you may enjoy are the Pokemon Mystery Dungeon games. You can emulate them easy.
