How would you improve the Super Mario Bros. for a 2018 audience?
Less holes to jump over? Higher jumps for Mario?
How would you improve the Super Mario Bros. for a 2018 audience?
More holes, stamina-based jumping and running.
health bar
coins heal
no time limit
can go backwards
some sorta melee attack
Different purely cosmetic costumes for mario, $4.99 each or all 4 for $23.99
Just switch Toadstool and Mario's roles.
its already extremely casual and easy mode why do you think it took off
no no no...
All cosmetic items have to be obtained through lootboxes that cost $9.99 each with the odds of rolling an item that you have already received. Do you think money grows on trees?
because it was free with the console when you bought it
new super mario bros graphics. oh wait they already made that.
Hold on there, thats phase two. After 5 seasons of "discontinued" cosmetics we re-release them as "Legendary" rarity drops in those lootboxes. However, we up the chance of these "Legendary" drops if you got the lootbox from the 50 pack bundle!
Graphic update
motion blur
Just think of paying 99 cents just to get Mario to jump a little higher.
Infinite lives, save states, randomly generated levels, no time limit, achievements, a leveling system, dlc, paid mods
id ruin the artstyle and add wall jumping
Just remake the entire game in Mario Maker. The updated physics would make it significantly more welcoming without changing anything else.
wall jumping is cool
so are jetpacks, doesnt mean I want them in my mario game
Post game where there are no enemies and Peach follows you.
Because apparantly there's no "point" to beating the villain if you don't get to actually play in the happily ever after.
>Mario starts as big Mario by default
>If player ends stage as small Mario, he gets bigger when the next stage loads
>5 lives
>Multiply coins in stage by 5 or reduce how many coins are needed for an extra life
>Infinite continues
>You can play as Mario, Luigi, Yoshi and Peach
>You can unlock "original version"
Loot boxes
every ?block is a loot box
Make it F2P.
You can pick Mario or Luigi as your starter.
Turn the original game and The Lost Levels into Story Mode.
Have Princess Peach and Bowser as Trophy units.
Clearing a Level gives you a Rainbow Coin, which can be used for the Gacha System.
Add a PvP mode which various modes.
Everytime the game receives an update which adds more Levels, it becomes much harder, if not impossible, to clear levels with just your starters or Trophy units.
Implement a Gacha system that introduces other units from the Mario and other Nintendo series.
At first, each character only has a specific advantage over the starters or trophy units. Later on, release more units that has multiple advantages in 1 kit.
>>You can play as Mario, Luigi, Yoshi and Peach
I'd actually like that desu, but only if they had unique abilities. No sprite swapping romhack shit.
...
Make peach a badass heroine that saves mario, get her some pants and a haircut so she doesn't look like a dumb pinup doll
I mean, it's fucking 2018. We shouldn't be doing these dumb sexist stereotypes anymore, women are just as good as men and it's time to show it
...
open world
crafting system
multiplayer, mario/luigi/wario/toad can play at once
there is no flag or end to the levels, it's actually a survival game
the goombas are zombis
SMB is already perfect. Can't we just improve the 2018 audience instead?
objective markers
stamina meter
press B to cinematic kill koopas
lootboxes
dlc
If there ever was an easy mode, all the secret warps would lead back to 1-1. You don't get both easy mode and shortcuts.
this triggers me.
super Mario Bros 4 (or 5 if you consider World 4, handdrawn in an older cartoon style, preferably based off of old Mario art.
make the bushes not recouloured clouds.
>Higher jumps for Mario?
Just play as Luigi
This thread is for bashing modern games, not pitching actual good ideas.
I'm on to you, fag
It can be both.
Too many BotW threads for you.
This, although more specifically we need to think of improving our games journalists. The problem isn't actual gamers.
