Not in your lifetime, buddy

its one of the buggiest pieces of shits Ive ever played(until the god awful sequel), but it has a very small amount of good bits like Red Mountain

Amy's sections suck ass though

Everyone who isn't a nostalgiafag admitted it already.
But it sure seemed great at the time.

It's the best sonic game

Sonic Adventure 1 & 2 were the only good Sonic games ever made.

And no, babby's first 2D platformers for the Genesis do not count.

(you)

How can a game get worse with time you nigger

>Let's split our development time by making you play as 5 other characters
>Instead of putting all our time into making Sonic fun to play as!

yeah it fucking sucks
i unironically think shadow the hedgehog is a better game

this

Nope. Sonic, Tails, Knuckles, and a bit of Gamma are too much fun. Amy is a slog and Big is painful to endure, but it has everything I want in a 3D Sonic game (for the most part). Alternate pathways, shortcuts, using momentum to your advantage, all of that is here in this game and in Adventure 2 (some of it to a lesser extent). I really wish they'd remake these 2 games or make a sequel with the polish of something like Colors or Generations.

Not him, but Early 3D jank was a bit more tolerable back then. Plus we were younger.

Nah, the original dreamcast version is pretty fun

My buddy insisted this game was good to me in high school and we played it and the entire game fell apart in seconds

>Gamma
>fun

I had a surprising amount of fun when I played it with someone who knew the game inside and out, it's really nowhere near as bad I was expecting it to be.
Glitchy and corny, but I'd never call it outright bad.

Gamma was 10x better than the shitty tails and eggman mech levels in 2, hot shelter alone is more fun than all of those

i fucking love ghb

its below average
but the cheesiness of the acting and soundtrack are big pluses for me

My favourite game in the series.

It was good for what it was a first experience for 3D Sonic with the slope physics.
Too bad they keep on going farther and farther away from it.

being 10x better than complete fucking gqrbage doesn't make it good

how can you say that when Sup Forums loves overwatch

never played it, but i liked the 2nd one, so i just downloaded it. ill have an opinion the next time you make this thread

No it's a few shitters and waifufags

It was a shoddily crafted good game.

Nah, I've been playing through the game my first time with the Dreamcast Coversion mod. I think its alright, out of all six characters I only really dislike Amy and Big's gameplay

This but unironically

Which version? Because all ports on steam and modern consoles are glitchy, shoddy ports of a shoddy port, of a shoddy port

The first SA was shit. SA2 is the greatest sonic game of all time.

DX has the better character models.

You can easily tell if someone is genuinely autistic by asking them if they like Sonic

Is it a problem that it caters to an audience?

Is this for real? The original looks way better

Hidden Ruins has some nice music too. Always enjoy running around that area.

Funny how people shit oh how 3d Sonic controls yet they suck Mario 64's dick even though the simple act of turning around is excruciating.

I hate Sup Forums so fucking much. You're all a bunch of 40 year old balding numales that hate every game. You're all worthless pieces of shit. SA1 is kino btw.

I've actually started to enjoy the gameplay more and more, the velocity physics are better than any other official 3D Sonic game I can think of, I just wish there were more levels that used them.
I have been thinking of getting back into the modding scene for this game and making some custom levels.

Dreamcast version is objectively better. DX and the HD ports add extra bugs.

That's an incredibly low bar, because none of the 3D games ever got the physics completely right.

It's nice that you can do super jumps off of ramps (and it's nice that Twinkle Park, Speed Highway, Red Mountain, and Sky Deck reward you for doing them), but quarter pipes and half pipes don't function as they should. Not even custom stages would fix that.

2 is bad. 1 is not. StH has superior level design out of all of them. shame its almost always dismissed because of the obvious.

I wish someone did this for PSOBB,the lighting on the Dreamcast version is a lot much better.

It's the single best 3D Sonic. It's heavily flawed, but I felt it captured the positives of the Classic games more than anything that came after it, and they've been straying further away ever since. The physics are fucking SOLID whenever they aren't bugging out, it has momentum to it that's affected by things such as slopes and the jumping out of a spindash is very enjoyable and rewarding because of it, Tails and Knuckles also play great, I even don't completely hate Amy's sections, and the game also has just a ton of charm to it with its janky cutscenes. Music's great too, has a much better variety than most 3D Sonic games.
Some (not all) of the bugs people encounter in SA1 are the faults of its shitty Gamecube port that was in turn used for all the other ports, and I think people harp on it too much for bugs. I'm a Classicfag through and through, but Adventure 1 is a guilty pleasure for all the things it does right. If they ever make another Adventure-style game I want them to take inspiration from Adventure 1 and NOT Adventure 2, which felt worse to me in basically every single way other than it being less buggy and having a more focused approach to its gameplay.

Sonic adventure battle 2 chao garden master race. I sunk hundreds of hours into that shit on gamecube

Get out of the city

SA1 is pretty legit, it's unfortunate that so many people like to bandwagon hate it.

>It's the single best 3D Sonic
>it captured the positives of the Classic games more than anything that came after it
While this is 100% true, it doesn't bear as much repeating as people nowadays seem to think it does. That's a super low bar. No matter this game's strengths, its flaws are overwhelming. It doesn't need to be the foundation in order for its slivers of quality to be emulated; those slivers aren't original to it in the first place. Constantly reiterating that it was the "least bad" does nothing but contribute to the air of wistful, hollow, and undeserved praise surrounding the game.

>If they ever make another Adventure-style game I want them to take inspiration from Adventure 1 and NOT Adventure 2
See, Adventure 2's problems were that it took too much inspiration from Adventure 1, and not Sonic 3K. If they made another "Adventure" title, which really just means "another 3D platformer", they need to start over from scratch, because it was not a good followup to 3K to begin with. They never truly nailed the dimensional transition.

Adventure's a product of its time and its brand's circumstances, so it being as bad as it was is ultimately something that's excusable because of how unavoidable it was. It was made in 1998. It had to show off what a new console could do. It had to be Sonic's "me too!" to Mario's 64. They had to get something out to check all of those boxes, so corners had to be cut, proper R&D couldn't take as much center stage as the game needed, and a great deal of gameplay nuance had to be sacrificed.

Afterward though? They should have buckled down and done more of their homework. Instead, they took all of the concessions they had to make as a blueprint for future games. That's going to happen again if they use Adventure 1 as the foundation again rather than 3K.

I still have fun with the game though.

down syndrome much

People been saying that since day one.

>"m-m-muhhhh physics!"
You lot are fucking cancer and deserve multiple bullets to the head.

Physics and movement are literally the most important aspect of a pure platformer. A game with bad level design but good physics can still be fun to fuck around with, while it's much harder to have a good time with the converse.

Overrated? yes. Bad? NOT IN YOUR LIFE!

It was trying to do something new in the series.

Why shouldn't Sonic Adventure 2 borrow from Sonic Adventure given that it is a sequel?

And that new thing was a step down in just about every single department. The addition of voice acting, polygons, and a Z Axis aren't categorical improvements.

They could have always not made a sequel to a bad game, and made something else instead.

But Sonic Adventure sold well and was received well.

Yes, and it's unfortunate that such a bad piece of art was such a successful product.

See:

Or maybe it is just you?

Fuck off nigger donkey

Sure, we'll consider settling for that conclusion when you manage to provide decisive counterarguments for the continent of valid criticism against the game.

How to get easy (You's)

If a game is received well, and sells well and still has a large devoted fanbase. Is it bad?
Is Spyro 1 a bad game?

Stop beating around the bush you pseudo-intellectual. You fucking suck. You're cancer. Fuck off nigger monkey.

...

t. down syndrome, low IQ shit taste having faggot

Now that you mention it, you're right. I used to glitch out all the time on the Gamecube, PS3, and Steam ports, but never suffered one glitch on Dreamcast.

No, I don't think popularity is a valid metric of quality. Look at the actual work itself in the context of its medium and creative lineage, look at the quality of its craft.

Adventure brings in 3D polygons and a whole additional axis for movement, but at the expense of severely cheapening the gameplay. The insane amount of incredibly well-executed nuance that the MD games had was lost.

This

The Dreamcast original was programmed for 30 fps while DX was upped to 60 fps. 95% of the collision glitches are due to this because they didn't actually reprogram the game to account for 60 fps.

Makes sense. I never really thought about it. I just noticed last time I tried Adventure that I clipped out of that turn in Emerald Coast and I didn't remember the original being so fucked up.

Fuck it, I'm feeling the Dreamcast nostalgia again. I'm gonna get mine back out now. And play pic related.

Adventure has been constantly shit on for the past 15 fucking years.

...

I think Sonic Shuffle is pretty underrated actually. It had a better base formula and more interesting boards than Mario Party.

I just wish the loadtimes weren't bullshit. Maybe a GDEmu would help with that.

>Look mommy, he posted a gif! Whatever shall I do?
Change that to 7. Adventure was critically acclaimed at the time of release and was loved by everyone up until e-celeb cancer and circlejerking and bashing on the series became cool for some retarded reason. This is a fact btw, no amount of your revisionist history will change that.

Times change, user. Play Adventure now. The line delivery is awful, animation timing is completely bonkers, and all character animations in general are babby's 1st day in Blender. To top it off, the script barely has any sense of cohesion.

And there's fucking Big the Cat.

>Change that to 7.
No, 15. That's when DX was released, and DX has been shat on from the very beginning.

People have said time and time again that all those things are cheesy but charming. And Big the fucking Cat? Kill yourself you nigger monkey. All your reasons are superficial as fuck. I would beat down on your head like it was a bongo drum you fucking nigger.
DX is a shit port nigger.

Jesus, the sonic autism is overflowing.

>DX is a shit port nigger.
Yes, it was. And that's why Adventure has been shit on ever since it was released. Because the GameCube and PC audience (and all the other re-releases) were far more numerous than the Dreamcast audience, therefore it's SADX that most people remember and shit on.

Early 3D looked like shit back then and now looks AESTHETIC you retard

Nah, the problem is rooted deeper than that. People just don't play the fucking game normally and try to glitch the game on purpose so they can shit on it. Arin from GG literally spent hours trying to glitch the game for his SADX walkthrough I remember reading one time. So while SADX is a shitty half-baked port, people just fucking suck at the game. Stop trying to damage control for your favorite reviewers and e-celebs you cum-guzzling nigger bastard.

What's the best order to play the characters in? Do you play all of Sonics first than tails etc or do you mix them up a bit

Post the Dreamcast version. Oh wait, you can't, Metacritic deleted it.

Compare Sonic Adventure 2. The Dreamcast version has a much higher score than the Gamecube one.

That wasn't the argument you vapid illiterate retard.

Play as the character you feel like playing at that moment. And once everybody else is done, play as Big.

Subjectively, you're and idiot.

Excuse me? Why are you being rude to me?

Why do so many Sup Forums users misunderstand what the word “objectivity” means? I know some are memeing, but there are a lot that aren’t.

gamefaqs.com/dreamcast/198694-sonic-adventure/critic
Sonic Adventure was critically acclaimed. DX wasn't. Deal with it pussy baby.

You're in a fucking sonic thread.

calm down pls

arin, arent you supossed to be sodomizing the whale you married or something

see e-celebs being retarded doesn't change the fact that DX was a shitty port , and the fact that Adventure has been shat on since DX was released because of it

>you'll never go back to the days of playing Sonic Adventure and Phantasy Star Online

...

It's time I bashed through the skulls of these soyboys. The social conditioning by e-celebs, nu-male video game reviewers, and general shit taste having circlejerking brain dead retards have gotten to most Sup Forumsirgins.
