Only if you buy that Facebook machine that reads your mind and steals thoughts for advertising purposes.
no but "vr is a meme" is a meme
You don't even get red marks on your face if you use a vive for like 5 hours straight unless you are retarded and strap it way more than it needs to be strapped.
Only people without VR think it's a meme. We'll get a new golden age of vidya once it actually gets some good games.
VRChat is one of the first games that actually shows the potential of VR. It feels like you're around other people when you're in the game and the body movements of other players make social interaction feel somewhat intimate. That's the appeal of VR, rather than all the tech demo bullshit games we've had. You could easily move the concept to an MMORPG.
I bought vr just to fondle my virtual titties
If this is wrong, I don't wanna be right.
This. Also Robo Recall is fucking amazing.
Echo Arena is fun as fuck but it's legit the only VR that gives me headaches
Onward and Echo Arena are all you need to see how VR is the future.
Rift or Vive (1)? Not going to get the pro.
can I get some VR recomendations for
-hentai
-3d porn
-games that make you actually feel like your going to fall off some great distance
-game that will make me feel motion sickness
rift if your a cuck poorfag who thinks hes paying 200 less but is paying more than 200 in ads alone
vive if you are pc master race
Yes if you dont get this new piece of hardware, you will be left behind.
Oh wait thats wrong, no matter how mqny times Sup Forums tries to shill it
Thanks to Ethiopian Knuckles it's more of a meme than ever.
>-game that will make me feel motion sickness
I'm guessing you do not own a VR headset. Simply looking at menus, then going back to normal reality will do a number on your eyes.
Wow, so unbiased, it's almost like you don't own a vive!
Now what percent of those who are Ugandan Knuckles do you figure actually own a VR Headset?
Yes, unfortunately. The technology is incredible, especially considering its infancy, but there are, quite literally, no fucking games. The singular good games are either short and watered down or they're just tech demos at best. Job Simulator is just a glorified joke book; it's not even really a game. Then I play something like Starblood Arena and I'm blown the mother fuck away. I'm biased because I'm a fan of Forsaken but holy fucking shit this is fucking fun. Then I realize that that's the exception, not the rule. There are literally a handful of titles that utilize the technology well and are worth your time.
If you have a good chunk of disposable income and you're interested in it then yeah, go for it. Just keep in mind that you're essentially buying an add-on that still requires a PC or PS4, and the add-on itself is the price of a console. It's basically the SEGA CD and 32X all over again, expect it's actually really successful now. Realistically though, you're better off saving your money. Everyone is saying that VR is the future and they're right - it's the future, not the present.
VR was never a meme. It’s still in its “primordial soup” stage where the hardware and software developers are tinkering with it and experimenting and all that until they can release the next generation. From there, it’ll evolve until it forms a VR evolution line similar to the way consoles have evolved throughout the generations.
Expect the future “Big 3” of VR a decade into the future to be Sony, Facebook, and Valve. Nintendo will play a role too, but will continue to pretend like it’s not competing with the others, even though it is.
I do but they do nothing so it feels like a meme. I WANT to experience the motion sickness meme. Taking off the head set after an hour of use makes me feel like I'm having an out of body experience though. Just making a fist and having my hands flat feels like its not even my hand for a while.
It can be pretty damn fun if you don't get the urge to barf all over the plec
what was the name of that game where you drive around town as a businessman and have to trade money for colored discs ?
>Nintendo VR
As much as I'd like StarFox and F-Zero in VR, I can't quite see it happening anytime soon. I'd expect Microsoft to do their thing before Nintendo does, both for PC and Xbone.
>Higher resolution
>Wireless
>Lighterweight
>Better controllers
Vive pro has finally left the realm of meme and entered reality.
Source on controllers? Maybe I'm being dumb, but I don't see anything.
I hope I never lose the ability to do this.
>Wireless
It's not wireless by itself. The wireless kit is sold separately and also works on the regular Vive.
Knuckles in Q3 2018 as per the htc ces talk.
nu controllers wrap around your wrist and you can move all your fingers since it looks at your knuckles. Like the rift except for your entire hand.
Yeah, but an addon still counts since it is native support and not a hacked together probraby work 3rd party thing.
I got around playing DOOM VFR. Things like drops I get a hint feeling of butterflies. All and all I'm pretty good at handling it.
Nah, this is just the beginning for VR
Yes, no good games. Just tech demos.
The only AAA company supporting it is Bethesda and only old ports
Woo, now it's blue.
Still no games.
So when are we getting actual virtual reality instead of glorified 3d glasses?
Well yeah, it's a gimmick.
"CLOCK"
"DO U NO LE WEY xDDDD"
That machine Riddler made for Batman Forever?
No why would you say that user, the Vive Pro™ just got announced.
0
as a longhairfag this looks like hell
windows mixed reality =^)
>-games that make you actually feel like your going to fall off some great distance
>-game that will make me feel motion sickness
Batman VR has you standing on the edge of buildings and Scavenger’s Odyssey for motion sickness. Also Rigs for motion sickness. Also Farpoint let's you stand at the edge of giant cliffs.
I've played a lot of VR games with virtual movement and so far the only bad thing has been turning without turning my body.
the best is turning in one direction with the controller and turning in the other direction with your body
Any good lewd games for VR? I recall CM3D2 and Honey Select support it, but what else?
This man gets it
>Woo, now it's blue.
Plus increased comfort using PSVR's dial-strap design, improved resolution, built-in headphones to reduce the amount of wiring, and built-in cameras in the front for whatever purpose... probably mixed reality features or maybe even built-in tracking?
It is slowly getting games. It has more games than it did in January 2017, and is getting more.
>The level of jewish ooze dripping from Gaben and HTC, the sound of 2 hands rubbing together
>Pimax 8K a literal who chink company that BTFO the entire VR industry with its 4Kx4K display panels and ultra wide FOV
>crowdfunded budget
>working proof of concept
>still in a affordable price range for enthusiasts
>HTC/Valve release a gap upgrade for their VR headset
>They did not increase the FOV
>78% increase in display size Vive Pro has a 2880 x 1600 dual OLED display compared to the original
why would you buy this? HTC/Valve have enough money to make the exact same specs as Pimax 8K was settled on a cheaper, lesser specced headset.
yes and its a incredibly over priced for what it is fuck I could make one at home for cheap with a tablet
I think it's interesting but mostly in the exploring virtual worlds sense. When you get the headset working just right and bring some of the game objects up to your face it really does feel like you're hallucinating.
So far all the games that have interested me on the Vive have all been shooters and games that I would have liked anyways if on a normal controller scheme: Sariento, Onward and Serious Sam all have better versions on a normal PC and don't leave you a sweaty mess at the end. But like I said, feeling the game at life-size level makes normal games feel... Minature.
>Pimax
no roomscale/standing stuff
VR without the motion controls just feels like TrackIR, which you can get running for $~30
>still in a affordable price range for enthusiasts
is there actually a price for it already? I think HTC is waiting for Pimax to announce a price for their headset before announcing the Pro's price
Guess I should go out and buy the pimax right now...
Oh wait. It isn't even fully designed. Let alone produced and shipped.
Guess I will see you some time next year or whenever you decide to cry over having your kick starter money stolen by a literal scam company.
>It is slowly getting games
>plural
It has no games, not one, not even a single game
>cry over redditspacing
It's a fun meme. Going around in VRChat as different characters and using soundboards is a lot of fun.
>4k x 4k at constant 90 fps
You would need like 2 1080 Ti's to even come close. Not even counting the headset... "affordable" is a bit of a stretch.
Yeah. We need something that isn't a shooter. Some sort of MMO would be great. Even just a 3d wow clone with VR controls would be nice.
too expensive
no, that's the old pimax, he is talking about the new one that uses valve lighthouse tracking.
and no games
Is that Ranko?
DOOM VFR is a game. There are more.
>DOOM VFR is a game
It's a glorified tech demo
>There are none
FTFY
Nope, but I get why some people wouldn't buy first gen. If you're not poor though, and have a decent sized space, it's fucking incredible. Only games that make me feel like a kid again.
the tracking is basically perfect, the bottleneck for now is resolution. That's a limit of both the headset and GPUs however, most computers cant run anything stronger than what's currently out there
damn you guys live under a rock.
Those are some radical torpedoes.
>Nope
How so?
Well for myself I feel like I'm in the minority here but I feel like I would benefit from just a really high-quality headset playing games normally at my computer. Especially racing sims so I can bust out my Logitech G27. GOOD 3D vision and a high-resolution in your face really drive home the point how artificial gaming on a monitor feels. But since so much of the population suffers from motion sickness, it's likely that without an omnidirectional treadmill we'll be playing meme gimmick wave shooters for the next 3 years.
Also melee combat will never work until we put little jet engines in the controller that actually have resistance when you swing.
Vive is the only one worth buying this generation. However it's overpriced garbage for what you get.
Wait for Gen 2 when they can work out the issues with frame lag and low resolution.
>It's a glorified tech demo
No it isn't. It plays exactly like the full game, retard. No functionality lost. Just like the Serious Sam 1-3 ports.
Anyone tried porn in VR? How is it
And more importantly, can I access porn VR on my phone with one of those plastic headsets
>high-resolution
The viewing quality of all of the popular headsets look like pre-HD era TVs
The red marks don't happen. I've had my vive headset on super tight and the most I've had happen is slight red under my eyes for a few minutes.
vive comes with full roomscale capability, but bulkier, more awkward controllers. rift has imo better, smaller controllers, with thumb and finger sense for pointing/thumbs up, thumbsticks instead of some goofy ipod dial, some good exclusive games, but only comes with two sensors in the oculus+touch bundle, pretty much necessitating the purchase of a third room sensor for 360 degree vr. overall, even after buying a third sensor, rift is still cheaper than vive, and the touch controllers are hands-down superior.
How strong of a computer do you need for VR? Is a laptop enough
I meant hopefully in the future they will be high-resolution.
Biggest issues right now with Vive are the wire, the weight, and the resolution.
2x1080ti or bust
What's wrong with the resolution
Just buy a switch brudda, don't bothdda
Thumper is mindblowing in VR
who the hell thought it was a good idea to put that god awful rap in the background music? i almost could concentrate on the product when watching the video.
HTC/Valve could already make "next-gen" headsets they just didn't want to jew people too quickly, so they are using existing cheaper parts to still make back the massive loss from the consumer version 2 kit. To increase the FOV they would need far bigger displays and by then they should just use 4K displays but then this comes down to the majority of people don't have enough money to run that hardware. So they are waiting for more poor people to adopt better hardware which won't be for another 10 years thanks to bitcoin.
so who do you blame for this entire mess, i think you should ask Sup Forums the boogeyman
The screendoor effect is noticeable and text has to be at least 40% larger before it's legible.
If you ever played Dead Rising 1 on a CRT or SDTV television back in the day, it's almost exactly like that.
Yes
Even the 1080 Ti has issues running 4K at 60FPS+, save for older games. Which is probably a lot of the reason that current VR games aren't exactly top-of-the-line graphically.
So far doing the research it looks like you need a Titan V or Xp with an older separate card in SLI acting as the physics card (especially since VR games seem to be very heavy on physics) to really pump out 4K at LEAST 90FPS 2-times minimum with modern graphics.
It reminded me of the Eighth Angel from Rebuild. Pretty intense.
Look at the size of this crap
That drawing where Pikachu rides a guy neck will become real with this
its weight balanced tho
>skin so weak it get's red marks from fucking goggles
>eyes so fucked you can't watch moving images
Why haven't you tap water goblins killed yourselves yet? At least your eternal virginity will remove you from the gene pool.
So they finally made a device to make you smaller the more you use it?
literal meme. the wow factor wore off in 30 minutes.
>once it actually gets some good games.
So it's a meme at the moment
It's a meme but it's a good meme.
Did you actually play Doom VFR?
if you mean videos It's really good just make sure it's POV because non POV is cuckoldry simulator.
yes at lower resolution
Have they found a way around the whole teleportation movement thing? Every game using that ruined the entire point for me, and made everything feel artificial and immersion breaking as fuck
Wait it can be made wireless? Wonder what the trick is. Last I heard they couldnt make it wireless because it needs to stream a ton of data
Lets all agree on something
>VR headsets/recommended PC hardware are too expensive
>VR requires too much processing power
>Graphic cards, RAM, CPU are all expensive thanks to bitcoin
>Judging from steams hardware adoption rate, it won't improve for another 5 years and that's give and take on the hardware prices even changing
It's more of a luxury entertainment than anything else and not a very wise choice for start up business if you are a developer.
Sure companies will try to shill the shit out of it to maximize their profit to milk everything they can before the inevitable collapse unless the hardware situation/VR optimization is better.
