Damn, that's pretty tough but it depends on the moveset. There would often be I think two or three movesets a pokemon could have. What they would do is make weaker pokemon, like mid evolutions and such, have the better movesets at the cost of having worst stats. It was a pretty shitty system honestly but as someone who received the game without the adapter iI grew used to it. Some pokemon I remember using often were gengar, zapados, alakazam, and poliwhirl.

It's definitely possible to win Stadium 1 with just rentals, you practically just need a Starmie, Arcanine, and something else I'm forgetting, Exeggcutor or Kadabra probably.
Stadium 2 is just fucking retarded with rentals, I don't think it's even possible.

Jolteon, Articuno, and Magneton usually had stellar movesets for rentals

Heracross had Megahorn as a rental which was enough for me in 2. I barely remember the rental movesets in 1 but I do remember using Kadabra a ton. Also Porygon since he's my fav.

I remember spamming Jolteon, Starmie, and Graveler

were these good in hindsight?

i just used charizard and articuno because i liked them the most. if i lost i just restarted until i figured a winning move or luckshitted my way through a win.

Idk what their movesets were but Jolteon Starmie and Graveler (Well Golem technically but Graveler was decent too) were pretty good gen 1

I beat Stadium with rentals. Kadabra is mad OP because it has psychic and most things are OHKO by it. The main thing you have to do is lead with Kadabra and then have a solid back up squad of things that can stand up to whatever may kill it.

It is but it requires a supreme amount of autism. Check out Werster's "speedruns" of Stadium 1/2. He uses Rentals as he finds imports too easy and both games take about 20 hours doing round 1 and 2.

To be fair, Psychic types were pretty OP back then.

I used Weepinbell a lot in stadium one because of how stupid Gen1 Wrap was
