Finally getting around to playing MGS3. Everywhere on the internet is telling me the way to play is no alter, full non-lethal, and that the tranq gun is cheating.
I got to the part where the ocelot soliders search for you after meeting EVA. Thus far it has been challenging but possible, but in this section I can't even come close to getting one soldier without being spotted. Even spamming stun grenades (I found 5) I still get an alert so that's bunk.
Am I being memed or do I just suck?
Aiden Gutierrez
Normal difficulty btw. It's funny because Snake can take 500 shots but I'm forced to reload to obey to no alert rule anyway.
Logan Harris
>Everywhere on the internet is telling me the way to play is no alter, full non-lethal, and that the tranq gun is cheating. Jesus Christ who the fuck told you that? It's your first playthrough, experience it the way you want to and enjoy the game how it was intended to be played, save the arbitrary restrictions for future playthroughs
Isaiah Nelson
Just use the fork man... Also this
Adrian Walker
yeah, non lethal no alert when you're just learning the mechanics is a sadist dream
just play how you feel my burddah
Chase Gomez
Dude do what the fuck you want.
Jonathan Price
Yeah I would go with this.
Sebastian Bennett
Just play like you want, don’t worry about what the Sup Forumsatos at this sub tell you to do.
Connor Hill
Correct
John Lopez
This. It's a great ride, enjoy it. Though I will say, EAT EVERYTHING EVERYTHING
Kevin Young
Hah! That ocelot soldiers bit was probably the best bit in the whole game
I struggled a lot too
Luke Campbell
first playthrough: normal no restrictions second playthrough: european extreme, no alerts third playthrough: EE, no alerts, no tranq
Jack Jones
>no alerts >plays on Normal Nigga, might just as well be playing on the European Extreme in that case, as it Game Overs you if you're spotted.
>Am I being memed or do I just suck? Both.
Jordan Collins
>Everywhere on the internet is telling me the way to play is no alter, full non-lethal, and that the tranq gun is cheating. stop listening to retards on the internet
Brayden Rodriguez
>Nigga, might just as well be playing on the European Extreme in that case, as it Game Overs you if you're spotted. it's my first run and even I know that guards have more lenient vision ranges on normal. yikes, that's embarrassing.
Joseph Diaz
Why was Ocelot such an easy fight, anyway? His bullets barely do any damage.
Ryder Nguyen
>Am I being memed or do I just suck?
Yes
Luke Perez
There's a trapdoor when the cutscene ends open that and crawl outside. Just pick them up one by one by waiting for one to pass by after you find a good hiding spot. Your best tactic would be making some noise and let them come to you one by one. The hush puppy is really OP in this section.
Dylan Morgan
This. You must be retarded to think otherwise.
You should also increase the difficulty to hard, if you don't suck at stealth games, and just play the game normally.
I used the tranq gun and regular stealth for the most part, but I also went full lethal when the alerts started.
I've since finished it many times, mostly on Extreme and European Extreme. It's a great game, but you really shouldn't limit yourself in any arbitrary way the first time you're playing it. Same goes for pretty much any game out there.
Mason Reyes
Hide under the bed, throw a Stun grenade when the 4 guards enter the room. Go down the trapdoor and pick the rest of them with tranquilizer gun or CQC.
Ayden Moore
There's no reason to punish yourself trying to do a no-alert Big Boss run on your first playthrough. You won't enjoy the game that way.
Ethan Thompson
Casuals. Tranq gun IS a cheat. It is a silent weapon of mass destruction that breaks the game. If you don't ban the tranq gun and lethal tactics, you will beat the game without knowing how to do CQC and without ever using any grenades/books/magazines/disguises.
Grayson Lopez
Don't give up. Ignore the casual retards in this thread who will make you play the game in an unsatisfying way. That is one of the toughest non-tranq parts in the game so don't worry, it just requires some strict strategy.
Hint: Use the environment to your advantage. Also, there is a cardboard box in that area that can make things easier.
Ethan Watson
Autism.
Gavin Long
I'm all for challenging yourself, but if it is your first run, you shouldn't force yourself to struggle too much. This is the last, somewhat-coherent, MGS before Kojima went crazy.
