Oblivion was released 12 years ago Skyrim was released 8 years ago That's a 4 year difference between releases.
But it's been 8 years since a mainline Elderscrolls game. Still no mainline game.
But we got TESO & Cards game. So Bethesda pretty clear that they're interest is in making shit games with maximum cash flow at this point.
Don't expect anything good from 6.
Thoughts?
Jacob Ortiz
Also 6 will not be on PS4 or XBOX one. Debate me.
Owen Ward
>6 years 2 months is considered 8 years
Lincoln Watson
Not an argument
William Torres
Skyrim wasn't even that good. It introduced a better combat system. Oblivions story and characters and everything was so fucking good. The graphics are ass of course, but that's why you get these games on pc so you can improve everything with mods.
Chase Rodriguez
Think you're retarded
Dylan Richardson
it's not meant to be I more or less agree with your general sentiment, Fallout 4 was proof enough that Bethesda gives zero (0) fucks about crafting a first person RPG experience that can stand on its own, because they know that for some reason their retarded fanbase will fix their shit for them and improve on it/make additional content for it, allowing them to move more copies than they should
I was just pointing out you were objectively wrong in saying Skyrim is an 8 year old game. it's not.
Jonathan Clark
Bethesda came right out and said that it costs too much money to make big games and there's no reason to when people will just buy Skyrim over and over again.
Nathaniel Adams
You never should've come here.
Ian Bailey
Why the fuck would they make a new game when they can re-release Skyrim over and over again?
Connor Anderson
There's nothing to debate here, anyone with half a brain knows that.
Luis Taylor
You missed the part where they said that they are working on 2 major projects before E6? It probably still hasn't started development yet.
Leo Jones
Bethesda is retarded they can make everybody happy like this. >Detailed quest journals. >Allows you to play with or without quest markers. >A "pro" quest marker option that only takes you to the general location.
Bazinga everyone is happy.
Austin Williams
why wouldn't they releas a TES game on console? since when do companies hate money? inb4 muh mods, we all know PC is a superior experience but normies will recognize the brand and buy that shit anyways and you know it
Connor Rivera
Nobody said anything about them not releasing it on console you nigger, the point is that it'll come out for next-gen consoles and not for the current one
Owen Gutierrez
>Bethesda came right out and said that it costs too much money to make big games They will never give up TES or give it the same treatment as Fallout 4. It's Todds baby.
With that said, there has been an obvious decline in the depth and RPG elements of the games since Morrowind but i'm past that by this point. All i want is more lore about the fantastic universe that they've created.
Bentley Green
Well, so do you think we will just get Skyrim too? Or how will they market 6?, Because Normie's only know what Skyrim is not TES. Ya I know I was just fucking with u. It's disappointing though. I don't even play Skyrim or oblivion anymore but I remember the countdown to Oblivion when I was a kid. And getting Skyrim at a midnight release on Christmas break or some shit. Remember user? I know you Remember. I disagree that's a straight out lie from them. There working on that shit and likely have exclusive access to development kits of next gen consoles already. They just don't want to release shit yet. . B-but what if the Normie's accidently turn off the quest markers. Get mad. And leave a bad review in Amazon? We're talking about next gen console releases.
Isaac Howard
Why do you care about bethesda games when they're all shit?
Jaxon Collins
>I disagree that's a straight out lie from them. You have 0 grounds to believe that. They straight up said it in interviews multiple times, they can't fucking lie like that. Stop kidding yourself.
Sebastian Williams
Two* I haven't played one in years besides TESO and I quit
Matthew Harris
stop spreading your retarded bullshit
Chase Nelson
shit nigger, you pretty dumb
Jordan Fisher
I remember Skyrim release date perfectly, it was 11/11/11
Connor Jackson
>there has been an obvious decline in the depth and RPG elements of the games since Morrowind Name one.
Jacob Jenkins
>B-but what if the Normie's accidently turn off the quest markers. Get mad. And leave a bad review in Amazon? They can do it like Fallout. >This mode is not recommended. Plus they can always turn it back on. Normies are fucking casuals but they aren't idiots.
Daniel Richardson
I can neither deny nor confirm that
Jason Sullivan
>still have quest markers bethesda would never go through the effort of journals when quest markers are an option
Cooper Gonzalez
Yes they can. They at least have done the lore & writing quest lines. You think all that shit gets done in a few years?* No they've been writing and building the core concept. They are fucking lying. You don't remember the oblivion release? They had s new commercial everyday with the oblivion gates everyday and a countdown number on t.v. Yes they are
Oliver Rodriguez

Sad but true.
Josiah Edwards
>So Bethesda pretty clear that they're interest is in making shit games with maximum cash flow at this point.
they will not make another main elder scrolls title until ESO is dead
Evan Reyes
Uh no. Fallout 3 and 4 has a ton of depth. Just because you can't role play as whatever you want doesn't mean the narrative is any worse. In fact it makes it tighter and more satisfying. Fallout isn't DnD.
>Dragon Age 2 and ME:A I'll give you those two but those only ended up bad due to incompetent overhead. >Skyrim Sells fucking millions. Sup Forums still plays it, normies still play it, reddit still plays it. Has a better story than Morrowind too. >Oblivion That's as rpg as it can get.
Robert Nguyen
>needing reams of text for a 'kill 10 X quest'
Noah Harris
You misunderstood
That's not an RPG element.
Jackson Ward
Skyrim and Fallout 4 were good games. Skyrim 2 will be good too.
Carter Rivera

Robert Lopez

Blake Parker
You were saying ? Pic related Fallout 4 was really bad objectively. U have shit taste. Skyrim was fantastic . Now I can't stand it.
Nathan Harris
>Sup Forums still plays it >reddit still plays it why make the distinction?
Jose Gray
>Be E3. >Todd Howard walks on stage. >We are proud to present SKYRIM 2. >Dragons being back made the area tropical. >Thousands of years later. >Dominion shit is over. >Vague information on the outcome. >You are a Dovahkiin again. >Alduin, Dagoth Ur, Mehrunes Dagon are all back and team up. >Locations: Skyrim, Oblivion and Morrowind. >Map is 2x bigger then Skyrim but split between the 3.
Gabriel Torres
That's not an RPG element.
It's also a strawman
Adam Nelson
Honestly I wouldn't hate this
Wyatt Martin
>Wanting to play skyrim because of le dragonmemes and not to be immersed and actually roleplay
Read my post again: >decline in the depth AND RPG elements
Grayson Edwards
Are you implying that the users of Sup Forums and reddit are the same?
Ryan Cruz
>generic fantasy setting >fantastic universe
Dominic Diaz
Who's talking about dragonmemes? Oh, that's you, faggot. Learn to read.
Camden Barnes
Post yfw it is switch exclusive
Jaxon King
Todd is taking his well earned rest, oll bet that he is going to release a major title this year. He did say that there is going to be a shorter time betweem annpuncement and release, so if FO4 is any indication. We will be getting a major title this fall
Wyatt Morris
No I read your post correctly and I even quoted that part, but you'll notice I didn't mention depth in the post you're replying to because it was right, however if you're goi ng to pick at every detail then I'll tell you that more words does not equate to more depth.
Thomas Cox
Yeah, if a gay cyborg from the future sent back to cleanse the world of Elves is "generic" to you.
Ryder Gutierrez
>Generic fantasy setting
It's actually closer to a post-post apocalypse fever dream, but I can tell you're an Oblivi-baby who doesn't know the lore so why bother?
Isaiah Price
Then present some evidence, kid. Without it you sound like Alex Jones.
Leo Cruz
Well they basically are. I’d agree the two don’t need any distinction
Nathaniel Cooper
>Elder Scrolls VI. >Half way through you find a dwemer helmet. >Put it on. >Shocking effects on screen. >High pitched noise. >See a spinning fan. >"You'r awake how bout that. Woah easy there". >It's actually a New Vegas remake.
Camden Green
>more words does not equate to more depth. I agree with you but it's not about there being more words, it more about your character having a journal in which he or she writes down subjects and observations which helps the player immerse themselves in the game.
You also get to follow basic instructions and look at your maps and surroundings for landmarks that will help you find your destination. It's about being lost in a world that you don't know anything about instead of chasing a little white arrow.

Less Armor slots Spellcrafting Stats
Justin Phillips
Regarding the removal or streamlining of certain Skills or attributes, it can be excused or even understood in some cases. But removing several of them and clumping them into one single skill or attribute hurts the replayability of the game. It also prevents you from limiting your character to certain skills which would help in enforcing roleplay instead of being a jack-of-all-trades or hybrid build.
Adrian Green
>Less Armor slots Not an RPG element. >Spellcrafting Not an RPG element. >Stats Congratulations, you actually named something!
Robert Jackson
The only skill I can think of is mysticism, but really it wasn't removed, just renamed to Emchanting and had its spells moved into better catagories.
Henry Roberts
Also, i apologize if my English isn't perfect in these replies, it's not my native language and i tired replying as fast as i could.
Hunter Mitchell
>Skyrim was released 8 years ago You mean 6. Oblivion was early 2006 and Skyrim was late 2011.
Jayden Garcia
I disagree. Length and structure of dungeons is a very important RPG element; for one a maze tests your navigational abilities. It’s also a test of resource management. If dungeon design is so linear that you can guess where there will be chests and about how long it will be then it’s not really any adventure. I mean, it is a TES game so that’s kind of moot as long as resting exists.
I also disagree that reading quest text to find a location is not an RPG element becuse of the ‘R’ part. Following a quest marker on your compass is not roleplaying, unless your character has the magic spell of GPS. You could argue an NPC marking a location on your map is reasonable and I agree, but then you should be pulling out your map to check it and using your compass to make sure you’re going the right way. But this isn’t EQ with sense heading so it would still be much simpler.
Camden Harris

Didn't a Bethesda rep/Todd say in an interview that ES6 isn't coming for a while because "the technology just isn't there yet" and that they wanted to actually develop a new engine for Valenwood/Dominion or whatever it will be called?
Sebastian Scott
Well that's your opinion then.
Jose Gray
Mysticism and enchant were different skills in Morrowind. Mysticism got merged into alteration and conjuration.
Examples of removed skills are Long blade/short blade/blunt weapon/Axe/spear which are all merged into One handed and Two handed respectively in Skyrim.
Skyrim also removed both athletics and acrobatics.
armor has been reduced from unarmored/light/medium/heavy to just light and heavy armor.
Both weapon and armor types have come to suffer from this. Since there's only Gauntlets, boots, helmet and chest armor for most armors in the game. In Morrowind you have pauldron x 2, glove x 2, boots x 2, legs, chest and helmet
In Morrowind you had a total of 18 equipment slots for things you could wear. In Skyrim you have about 7 if i remember correctly.
With all this said. I don't hate Skyrim, but i love TES and i hope they don't remove everything that makes me love it
Carter Reyes
you're autistic. Bethesda has been working on and releasing other titles all of those 8 years. the next es game is probably in the works. it isn't cod where they release a pile of shit every year.
Cameron Brooks
name 1 call of duty game
Matthew Sanchez
>"the technology just isn't there yet" The technology hasn't been there since Morrowind. When will they drop their shitshow in-house engine? FO4 is proof the engine doesn't withstand time with prohibitive choices, bad optimisation, the requirement for close quarters culling, AI restrictions... it's an old fuckin engine with a fresh coat of paint.
Why don't they give Square a phone call and ask nicely if they can use Luminous? Engine can clearly handle open worlds.
David Parker
i for one actually love the series and miss it like hell bethesda made a bad choice letting some b team use their big ip for an mmo nobody plays
Charles Garcia
>the technology just isn't there yet i seriously fear that might mean optimizing the fallout 4 engine for vr and switch while still looking good on high end pcs the possibility of tes vi launching on all the platforms skyrim was rereleased to is absurdly high
Nathaniel Adams
>listing stats as an afterthought Probably the most important and distinguishing part of the genre, but OK
Jaxon Russell
You forgot Skyrim Remastered, now available on Steam, PS4 and Xbox One.
Asher Ward
What can they even do with Skyrim at this point? It has a remastered version, a Switch version, a VR version? What will the next version of Skyrim be?
Brandon Scott
Of course theres no new mainline games, because you stupid sheep faggots keep buying Skyrim over and over. They're not incentivized to make a new god damn game. You want a new elderscrolls? You have to make bethesda know a new one is needed. Start hating on Skyrim, drive its sales into the floor, make sure bethesda's hired shills don't go unchecked, make sure the switch version fails, and make sure no one ever buys it again.
You'll make Bethesda panic and realize they have to actually DO something to earn money instead of earn it for free from you retarded normies who invaded the fanbase and keep buying the same thing over and over.
Mason Barnes
I prefer Skyrim "dungeon" design. I don't like maze of complexity of path. One path dungeon is best dungeon.
David Ortiz
>Skyrim also removed both athletics and acrobatics. Misc skills >armor has been reduced from unarmored/light/medium/heavy to just light and heavy armor. Unarmored still exists >In Morrowind you have pauldron x 2, glove x 2, boots x 2, legs, chest and helmet And there's no reason for it to be that way other than to enchant yourself to godhood. >In Morrowind you had a total of 18 equipment slots for things you could wear. In Skyrim you have about 7 if i remember correctly. Due to clothing layering with armor instead of them sharing the same slots, which again had no reason to be that way.
Asher Thomas
So you are saying I should pre-order the game of the millenium edition and buy all the DLC as soon as I can?
Jace Watson

That's of course assuming the entire staff is now replaced by Zenimax.
Anthony Anderson
that picture is funny because there literally is a kill 10 bears quest in Skyrim and it does actually have plenty of "dressing" in fact it arguably handles its dressing of shit quests better than Morrowind. And this is coming from someone who thinks morrowind is the better game
Michael Lopez
>cherrypicking that Morrowind dungeon in your pic is actually tiny, the map is zoomed in to make it seem larger, in reality you run through it in 5 minutes, 2 minutes if you have boots of blinding speed. 99% of "dungeons" in Morrowind are tiny 2-3 rooms

>implying everything Bethesda has developed in the past decade hasn't been a pile of shit
They want to be the next blizzard and transmute their fanbase gathered over the years on the back of a huge legacy into an army of loyal casualfags that will consume only their shit. Could have worked if TESO came out during the prime years of MMOs.
Elijah Rivera
skills + perks > attributes + skills This is especially evident with a good perk mod, perks can actually change how your character plays, attributes and skills do close to nothing, so what if your Long Blade is 100 and Strenght is 100, the only difference compared to LB 30 and STR 30 is damage and miss frequency, everything else is mechanically the same
Having all 3 would be the best though, but the attribute system would need to be reworked because its really shitty in both oblivion and morrowind.
>Long blade/short blade/blunt weapon/Axe/spear which are all merged into One handed and Two handed respectively in Skyrim. There are separate Axe/Sword/Mace perks, which actually make the weapons function somewhat differently as opposed to Morrowind where the only stat that mattered was reach and even that mattered little, and the weapons were completely identical
Benjamin Jones

Daily reminder that expecting something good from tes 6 means you're delusional. Zenikikes completely controls bethesda at this point and will be next EA in next 5 years

After it took so long to get script extenders for F4 and Skyrim Special Edition I don't even think TES6 will be good for a modding sandbox.
Elijah Murphy
imagine if they'll put denuvo in starfield. What a perfect place for modding amirite
Chase White
The genre of first person RPGs can be so much more than the simpleton standard set by Bethesda. Fucking Dark Messiah came out in the same year as OBLIVION and it would be an insult to compare its combat to Skyrim's. Skyrim is HD Minecraft combat plastered on a comfy walking sim. Blows my mind that it continues to receive praise, even from Reddit.
Gabriel Lewis
