Sneakan thread

Sneakan thread.

Just finished Dishonored with DLCs, it was quite good, but teleporting and x-ray vision kinda sucked fun out of it. I'm thinking about playing either Styx or Alien: Isolation next, what would you guys recommend?

Also I heard that the next-gen versions of Double Agent are shit, so what's the best way to play proper one? I still have my X-Box Heug, but don't really feel like looking for cables and trying to hook it up to my monitor. Is emulating Wii or PS2 versions a good idea?

Styx is garbage. Alien is more of a horror game than a pure sneakan game, no quicksave on a pc game is gay, and the alien AI is kind bullshit sometimes, but other than that, it's one of the most well done atmospheres in any game of the past 10 years.

>Styx is garbage
first game was meh, but I'm playing Shards of darkness now and its much better, unless it goes to shit in the end i would say its pretty good.
At least it feels like an actual stealth game unlike Dishonored, heck, on hard difficulty you cant even engage in combat.

Should I have play first Styx to understand the story in the sequel or can I skip it?

>tfw playing thief 2 for the first time
I just finished life of the party
very good game, worthy sequel

Skip the first one. You are a goblin that likes to steal shit, and that's it. Nothing from the first one reoccurs so you are good to go.

Do not play Styx. I haven't played the first one, but the second one is the worst full price game I've ever paid for

If you are expecting anything other than the worst ending of all time, then you're gonna be disappointed

I emulated the PS2 version and it was fine, i think the only issue that might be fixed by now is that thermal vision is broken

to each their own i guess, I'm not saying the game is perfect or anything. I dunno, pirate it if you're not sure

Games I would highly recommend are Mark of the Ninja, Hitman Blood Money, Gunpoint and Invisible inc if you like roguelikes,

...

I got Thi4f for like 2€ a while ago, so I figured I'd finally give it a try. Boy, what a shitshow.

I haven't played it, what's wrong with it?

>Nonlethal for Delilah in Dishonored 2 is to give her exactly what she wants
Why? That's not satisfying. Yeah it isn't REAL, but SHE doesn't know that. As far as she's concerned she had a total and complete victory. That's bullshit, nonlethals are supposed to be worse than killing them.

First game is actually much better than the second one.

It REALLY goes to shit in the end.

Even if the writers pussy out and undo the awfulness later like with the woman you kidnap and hand to her rapist.

that sucks

It's Thief, as seen through the eyes of Dishonored, only worse in almost every way. It's less a "true" stealth game, and more of a modern "play YOUR way" stealth game.

You can't jump at all, but you can faux-parkour up some walls. There are a lot of windows you can enter, and you'll dream of a way to keep those windows open indefinitely becauce you'll have to do a short QTE thing every time you open one. The missions are divided into sections, and if you pass a checkpoint you can't go back to gather loot. Garret is nothing like what he was in the earlier games, but there's a decent explanation for why that is, although why they chose to write it that way is a question for the ages. Every time you do something (snuff out a light, push a button, pick up loot, whatever), there's a short animation that takes away control for a second, and gets more and more annoying as you play.

It's just not very good.

Anyone play Thievery UT? It was FotM a few years back on Sup Forums and it was a fucking blast. Like Spies vs Mercs in the Thief universe.

>crack open windows simulator in open world
>predesigned path in missions

>Mark of the Ninja
My nigger
That game is fucking fantastic

If you're referring to that one writer's comment about her "probably wrapping the guy around her finger," it's actually officially canon now that she got no punishment. In the novel Corvo explains that the guy took her back to his estate, then she had him killed and took his estate and money and has been living there ever since. One of the two innocent sisters actually got it worse; she was traumatized after the kidnapping and the third sister locked her up in a sealed wing of the house by herself for about a decade.

Dishonored after refusing the Outsider's powers is one of the best stealth games I've played in the last decade.
I remember trying to talk about the game on Sup Forums when it came out, saying things like "it's got some rough edges but guys, the lore/worldbuilding/technology/level design is top notch" and I got called a shill and told the game was irredeemable shit. Yes I still mad. It's also a shame that the sequels improved on the gameplay, but dropped the ball hard with writing.

How is Alpha Protocol in terms of sneakan? I've played for two hours, but hacking minigame was tedious and I didn't like timed "choose one word" dialogue system. Should I give it another go?

Eh, it could be better. I've always loved Alpha Protocol, but the AI is brainless and the sneaking becomes ridiculously easy when you put points into the stealth tree.

>try to do 100% stealth non lethal run
>it turns out randomly spawning swarms of rats eat unconscious and it counts as a kill

I ruined one of mine setting a guy down gently on a slightly inclined ledge and a minute later he slid and cracked his head. I didn't know whether to be impressed or annoyed

I'm near the end of Dishonored 2. Pretty good overall, but Stilton's Manor was complete fucking kino.

I've had ragdolls glitching and flying all over the place when I was putting them down on the ground resulting in their death, that's why I was save scumming like a bitch in this game.

Similar things happened in Deus Ex: Mankind Divided. Ragdolls were glitching through the walls after non lethal takedowns and died.

It's extremely impressive the first time playing, but if you're gonna play through the game a few more times then it will become the mission you least look forward to
