He must've made so much dosh from the Build engine. There's no other reason he retired so early.

He's still working in stuff, like voxel tech. If you ask me, 3D cards fucked him, neither the players or the devs wanted voxel tech.

Everything is wasted potential. Everything has potential. Everything has the potential to do better.

>be the god of digital music composition
>only comissioned for 20 garbage games for every decent game

what is he up to these days

>this could've been part of D3

He deserved better. He was bullied by his coworkers

OST is the best part of TL2, but is a watered down version of Diablo OST. Still better than 3 OST.

John Romero's Daikatana

Forgot pic

Ok, I'm tired. SOrry

he quit game composition after ecco on dreamcast, he was never really a composer and video game music had moved beyond making fancy stuff on simple chips, so he had basically lost his main distinction in the industry.

Is that Anachronox?

He didn't do much of value afterwards

2000 was so comfy

He is the biggest One Hit Wonder of vidya. Of course he is wasted potential. Carmack told once he was one of the better programmers out here.

it's not like Carmack is working on games anymore either. he didn't share Ken Silverman's fate because he struck a goldmine with 3d accelerator support when most of devs still considered them an expensive fad, and even then he ran out of luck by betting on megatexture horse

Didn't he try to come back with Rage? Didn't that turn out to be shit too?

he made that FMV game Contradiction and composed all the music in it not too long ago.

I am talking about RAGE, though he implemented the tech before on ET:QW

He might have been overcompensating for designing idTech4 engine which pretty much supported a single type of game and only one studio bothered to license it

Megatextures worked in the end see NuDoom and NuWolf
