Can someone explain to me why anyone would think SMB3 > SMW?

Not bad, but the flaw is that you placed Super Mario Land and Super Mario Land 2 on the same level, when 2 is obviously a much better game - at thebleast, a tier above.

I'm not sure on the merits of comparing the 2d mario games to the 3d mario games, as they follow completely different design philosophies. Aside from that, I don't remember galaxy being that amazing. It's been a while since i played it, but I remember sunshine in a better light than galaxy. Never played 2 though. Other than that it seems like a fairly competent list.

Would unironically agree with this list if Sunshine was moved down to good.

Dunkey may not be the best critic of all video games but he knows his platformers, they are clearly his favoeite genre and he knows what makes them good and what makes them bad

What's the merit of comparing any game to any other game? There really isn't one. It's just how you feel about them.

If all you've played is Pong, and then you play SMW, you will be blown away. If all you've played is Pong, and then you play SM64, you will be blown away. If you play SM64 and then play SMW, I'm not really sure what the result will be.

At the end of the day I think it will depend how much you appreciate novelty vs doing something familiar. It's so subjective and yet the autists here like to pretend their opinions are objective truth

Replace Galaxy 2 with Sunshine, replace Odyssey with World, and throw 64 right in the trash.

Remove Galaxy games and Odyssey from Big Boys and place them in the bottom category.

Only thing I'd change personally is bumping World up to Big Boys, regardless it's still solid.

SMW cannot hold a candle to to SMB3.
SMB3 remains to be the ultimate Mario game at it's purest form.
