>costs almost as much as a brand new GPU
who said building a pc was cheap?
Costs almost as much as a brand new GPU
>tfw fell for the 8gb is enough meme
i fucking hate this
Koreans appear to be exempt from price fixing.
it’s not cheap, and most anons on here have toasters. I guarantee you nobody on this board has a build worth more than 1k
Its fucking price fixing, it'll stabilize later.
Bought some Korean Klevv RAM for really low prices.
>it'll stabalize later
>it's been like this for a year now
It was cheap before crypto miners and the jews at Samsung fucked everyone over.
do you just skip over all the spec threads where people regularly post their retarded expensive 1080ti builds with more than ten disk drives to archive every formula 1 race that has ever happened
that's twice as much as you need so yeah it costs a lot. no shit
that's not gamer ram it's no good
>I guarantee you nobody on this board has a build worth more than 1k
I may have, but my investment in RAM has tripled since I built it.
Me too user. It was fine at first but now it is pure suffering.
GOD FUCKING DAMN IT
WHY DID I LISTEN TO YOU ALL
>bought 32gb of DDR3 on a whim a year or two ago
>thinking abought upgrading my 4th gen i7
>$300+ for what used to cost around $150 for matching ram
AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA
>tfw I fell for the I5 is all you need
I wish I could go back redo everything
Once the Bitcoin bullshit tanks, it will go away.
bitcoin bullshit is never going to tank though
I bought 16gb of this model in August 2016.
It will tank for a bit but will then continue to grow afterwards.
>it's been like this for a year now
welcome to the past 20 years kid.
>gain more than $300m by price fixing
>write off the fine
There need to be steeper penalties.
can someone explain the 8gb isn’t enough meme
i built my pc a year and a half ago with 8gb and ive never felt like i needed more ram
>my gpu I bought for $400 now goes for $940
Never should have opened it, I guess.
>buying this meme shit
It will be nothing because it's an imaginary investment that isn't backed by anyone. It's only real value was money laundering and buying shit off silk road.
It will be nothing in the next 5 years.
most of those prices are third party jews. people bitching about about nintendo scalping don't even know how bad it is.
My pc is getting old but I'm probably just going to get a console instead of updating it at these bullshit prices.
>tfw im I5 and 8gb and havent had any issues
Hell, I run two games simultaneously sometimes. Sometimes I play vidya + have a movie on my TV, no issues. What could be so demanding that you think you need more?
tfw 16gb ramlet
cryptocurrencies were mistakes
nu firefox hogs RAM like a motherfucker
What are you doing that you need more than 8GB?
Haven't had any issues on my machine
>an imaginary investment that isn't backed by anyone
Wow, just like most of the world's currency!
...
Do you think the raising of price in PC components could be a side-effect of PC growing and the demand increasing?
I have a seven year old motherboard. The best compatible RAM for it goes for about $100 for 8 GB.
>tfw want to upgrade but DDR4 ram is expensive as fuck
fucking jews
...
I sincerely hope this isnt meme bitching by (((people))) who dont know how to clean their system of useless files or dont invest in anti-virus/spyware
I'm currently at 8 GB (Used to be at 16 but some sticks bricked) and the only time I really feel it is if I'm running a game on my main monitor and an HD video on my second.
somebody needs to confiscate your fucking brain for misuse
Except those obviously aren't the fucking regular prices.
Those are 3rd party sellers trying to scalp a product that is currently out of stock. I mean fuck dude, you have 6 packs in the screenshot.
Current-gen i5 is fine for most reasonable things, but holy shit, 16GB should be your starting point for RAM. Browsers are eating more and more memory, and random games nowadays demand 6+ GB while running, probably because of optimization memes.
im still on 16gb of ddr3 but all my vidya still runs great so no plan to upgrade. hopefully all price fuckery is over by 2020 though.
So switch to waterfox or pale moon. They're both better anyway
>close chrome while playing games
Wow that was hard
isnt waterfox behind updates compared to firefox? do they even get the fix for the whole meltdown shit?
>random games nowadays demand 6+ GB while running, probably because of optimization memes
This is my problem. Rising Storm 2 runs on UE3 just like RO2 and the first Rising Storm which ran flawlessly for me and yet RS2 rapes my ram into the ground and brings the game to a crawl, often becoming unplayable.
the cpu shit was fixed at the os level
>tfw have several tabs open, including youtube
>tfw playing planetside 2 @ capped fps
>tfw writing this shitpost with no issues
methinks people dont know how to diagnose why their computer is shitty
It's backed by everyone invested it it, like most things in society
Have 5 Sup Forums tabs open and watching a youtube video.
Had a webpage open on steam too. Still have 2GB unused by applications. You just don't know how to use your computer correctly. Having a ton of useless tabs open actually makes using your browser slower not faster retard.
>t. someone with 32 gb of ram
i unironically bought a prebuilt and pulled it apart for the shit i needed because it was cheaper than buying the parts separate
I'm running Iridium (Chromium, basically) with a livestream, half a dozen extensions, and this shitty thread running. Iridium is using half a gig. Run a malware scan.
There might be a few plebs who only use their PC's for watching youtube videos, shitposting on imageboards and playing a single game but there are other things a PC can do that really eat RAM. Luckily when you're not using your PC for autistic shit, you can do more autistic shit on it, like having web browsers open while playing games, or listening to music.
A huge problem field is image editing, especially in the pro field. It's literally the only reason I have 64GB and I had 32GB in my 3570k build. If you have to scan an image, open one for editing/corrections or even switch between apps then you'll easily hit over 32GB of memory with just the OS loaded. Everything you do with these images just tears into your RAM. Once you hit the problem of page file usage, you're also now dealing with HDD's and their controllers being hammered. I imagine video fags have the same or similar problems.
How can i keep my fans cool? They're always at high levels. Should I get blue leds instead?
i regret absolutely nothing more in my life than falling for the win 10 meme
what a waste of fucking time
He's probably talking about Spectre fixes which are going to release if they haven't already for Firefox. I dont know about watermelon/palememe
Please show me a first world government insured financial institution that accepts bitcoins for paying off regular liabilities.
Having less files is barely going to improve anything unless you're accessing the areas with lots of junk files. What will impact you is things that are currently being accessed or running not amount of files on your PC. An anti-virus software will only slow down your PC. Anti-virus programs don't protect the PC as much as they protect peoples stupid decisions. I haven't had an anti-virus program installed in about 7 years and haven't had a single problem since I know what I'm downloading and installing when I install anything.
Xrp does in South Korea and other parts of Asia
Where do you work? What's your job?
How do you guys need so much ram? you keep 70 tabs at the same time? I've more than 8gb but only because of my work databases that are stupidly big
holy shit how recently did ram spike in price? I got mine like a year ago, this is insane
Score. I airbrush the cellulite off of bbws
...
>Keep your computer in a plastic box outside where its -10c most of the time.
>A 750ti, 8GB ENUFF Ram, FX-6300 800 cores none of them real machine runs like its composed almost entirely of Alienware stickers, even massively overclocked.
Honestly I think computers are a jewish con or something. Take memory, you can't tell me this shit has gigabytes of space on it, I could inhale it. I just think your computer is somehow drawing on Lord Kelvin and we'll reach the singularity when we start computing at absolute zero.
I'm only half joking too, temperature should be a meme but it really fucking isn't. I do unseasonable things to this shitbox and it does far too well for what is now a dangerously obsolete machine
>South Korea
Cmon man.
:^)
paint the fan blades red so they spin faster
I am self employed. I do contract work for companies mainly fashion and product shots.
So basically unless you're doing professional work you don't need more than 8GB
The thing is people who say you need more than 8GB are people who just leave a thousand tabs open on firefox because they have brain damage.
>no optical disk
Fucking nigger piece of shit fuck you
Really though, why should I get one.
This is still more respectable than being a wedding photographer.
my build was worth more than 1k when I built it 7 years ago. It still runs decently so I haven't built a new system yet
RAMlet spotted.
>games keep dropping to 30fps
>switch from Borderless to Full Screen
>everything runs perfectly
Well I guess that's good...but alt-tabbing sucks now.
>optical disk
>2018
>running a game uses 6gb
>OS uses up 2gb
literally cant have any other program open or you'll BSoD
Video editing. I make do with 8GB, but it gets a little slow.
Also having more than one tab open in chrome. Each one is like 4GB of RAM.
There's literally nothing wrong with being a wedding photographer
I ask myself the same question than ever year-year and a half I need it for some old game or software.
Its just one of those things, ya know?
Literally just close your browser lmao I don't think I've ever seen the usage go above 11ish even with it
Well, your PC will just force close one app (the game). It'll only do that if you have literally no dedicated HDD for swap/page.
>Ram is expensive because its the fastest memory aside from the CPU, which is basically a guy with eidetic memory and also chronic amnesia.
>Computers are a battle of guessing what you want and trying to make sure the most relevant files for what you want to do are sitting open on your desk.
Why don't we just make computers bigger? I mean what if you just had really long sticks of ram?
I will never need more than 16 tho
>using steam's web browser
people like you shouldn't be allowed to own computers.
>want more RAM
>want new SSD
>want new MOBO
>want new CPU
>want new Screen
I'M NEVER HAPPY GOD DAMNIT
Just download the RAM, it's free.
Your post has been filed for review by the ordo xenos of the inquisition.
>tfw 4GB RAMlet
Start with the screen. 60hz feels awful to me now
...
tfw 240hz but hardware isn't strong enough for anything above 60
Good point, man.
>Everything has heatsinks on it now.
>I can't be ghetto as fuck by thermal-pasting stacks of pennies to my northbridge
>Water cooling is almost standard now.
>Can't scare people by telling them I submerged my motherboard in a floating soup of WD-40 for years.
Wouldn't do that again though, the returns were very diminishing after a month or so, I think the heat breaks it down and then you have to flush and replace it, and a film forms which essentially negates the effect.
At least you'll have fun when it hits 63.
