Nah, unless you have VR equipment its not good to play desktop. Desktop users found their fun playing it by memeing around. There's also more desktop users who can't or won't get VR to play it properly and they wont go to second life because it's old news.

They could restrict it only to VR users which would be better for the growth of the game, but will lose it populairty because of the price walk of getting into it.

I tried playing it on desktop but every room was just one group standing in a circle yelling memes. Doesn't help if you're not American too because you can get really high ping given that the rest of the world doesn't own enough VR to be considerably noticed when finding servers.

The program is shit every other world doesn't load or gets stuck on the loading screen.
