Anyone else here liked the twist in the PC/Vita/PS4 version of 999 more than on the original DS?

That a girl died because she couldn't figure out the password to escape was Password?
Yeah pretty funny.
I just pretend the axe ending is canon and we never find out who Zero is and none of the other games happened
I can't think of any other game that goes from incredible to retarded the way 999 does
>Junpei Vision
>Akane Vision
Oh look, the mode I ignored throughout the game is part of a meta twist. How exciting. Thanks for spelling it out, I would have missed it otherwise.
What was different? Finished 999 last week, amd finished VLR yesterday. Played both on PS4. Never played the original.
The bottom screen on the DS is young Akane narrating, top is Junpei's POV. Note that only the bottom screen has touch input, so you're essentially solving all puzzles as Akane. Except the final puzzle is presented as an upside-down Sudoku, so you flip your DS and basically solve it as Junpei for her.
Thats pretty cool. Sounds better than the akane/junpei versipn.
The execution is so much better and much more natural.
Just look at youtu.be
The constant switching fucks with the pacing of that scene. Also fuck the dub
I only played on english. What was wrong with the VA? I thought it was really good.
I wish there was a 3DS version but with the same pixel art, no dub, and includes which point I can go to without replaying the whole damn game
Weebs will bitch about dubs no matter how good the english voice acting is
The original is so much better jesus
Why does the character design in ZTD look so fucked? None of the recurring characters look remotley close to how they did in previous games maybe aside from 1 of them.
Not the same artist, maybe rushed dev time
I hate Sudoku so I just looked up the answer to the final puzzle.
I remember being really annoyed too, because the ending made no sense at all. Maybe the later games explained how the time travel actually worked, but in 999 I remember it being nonsense.
Dub is not bad but honestly the game is better without it, you kinda form you own idea for how the character sounds.
Everything about ZTD is just a fucked
All I can hear is a 30yo woman unsuccessfully pretending to be an 12yo girl.
Personally I would have preferred the beeps.
I don't even want the Jap dub. I'm not used to that kind of shit
The artist and art director from the first two games were replaced for Zero Time Dilemma. Actually, the entire staff except for Uchikoshi and Hosoe was replaced.
dear fucking god no
never mind the changed lines, changed twist and changed final puzzle, the upscaled sprites looked TERRIBLE. Santa looked like he had downs.
I agree with everything except for the characters. They look fine in the new versions.
Different artist (who I like) but mostly it's because of incompetent modelers/animators. If they got paid anything but rock bottom rates, they should be charged for robbery.
Junpei's eng va sounded like he had a load of fun and pretty natural. Liked his delivery in the elevator scene.
Which was weird because in ztd he sounded really bad and stilted and with a gay lisp sometimes. Is this the power of competent voice direction?
ZE is dead
No!!!
So HOW did they handle it?
Also the final puzzle is literally just "spell password". yes, really.
man the puzzles in 999 were fucking baby shit.
Didn't Akane ever say "Jumpy" in ZTD? I swear it didn't sound this akward
the claw one wasn't so easy iirc
or was it just long?
12yo Akane in 999 vs 22yo Akane in ZTD. The actress just couldn't pull off the voice of a child.
i don't remember any claw puzzles. i did just remember the only hard puzzle, the one in zero's room where you have to spell ALL ICE on a numbered grid. and i mashed random numbers and completed it anyways.
At least they were fun for me
It was the crane puzzle where you were in the warehouse and had to move a bunch of boxes around on a mvoe limit I think?
Didn't play the PC/Vita/PS4 version, what is different about the twist?
i remember now. you don't use a claw, you use a robot to push crates. that one was kind of ok.
i went through ax>sub>knife ending in my playthroughs. wich order did you guys get?
I was really lucky and happened upon the safe my 2nd run.
The were boringly easy but still managed to make getting all the endings a huge pain in the butt.
Has the creator of the Zero Escape series done anything since ZTD?
Agreed. The whole cast of 999 sounded that way i think.
who cares about that faggot after what he did to ZTD
Psync announcement sometime in 2018. He's been laying low after the ztd backlash
What about me and Mira?
It's... DIFFICULT to boil the reason down to ONE word.
I wish eric fucked sean
Is it her green eyes, the way she talked, or the fact that dark skinned people in an ordinarliiy light skinned society are portrayed by the general media to be naturally distrusted?
Team Q was fucking cancer
Not like C was any better. D would have been perfect if Phi wasn't dead for half the game
>spoiler
and if Sigma wasn't retarded
But that's literally the best part. If it weren't so redundant I loved how all the Diana choices were "Phi says do something, Sigma says the opposite."
The whole time playing I was thinking
>Isn't this supposed to be genius old man Sigma, not retard college Sigma from VLR?
ZTD was a major letdown in every way, feels bad man
Everything is enjoyable if you go "just turn off your brain bro".
D was laughably bad.
>C-Team
>actually use SHIFT powers
>try to outplay Zero multiple times
>know how to use the AFM
>D-Team
>never use SHIFTing in any productive way
>double poison
>faxes babies to pre-war Germany and then starve with them in the bunker
C-Team was the only enjoyable part in the game, mainly because of Carlos trying to get shit done with his powers. D-Team was retarded characters making bad decisions.
>DON'T TAKE THE ANTIDOTE, IT COULD BE MORE POISON
>Phi says do something, Sigma says the opposite
>when vlr was all about getting them to work together and get shit done
LOL
We Chad vs Virgining here?
Not gonna lie, I totally forgot about the double poison part. Holy shit I had just roared in laughter after recalling.
I would've slapped the drunk bitch silly desu. All the crap about her abusive husband when she's the same if not worse.
If I can put it in a /tg/ sort of light, 999/VLR are like when you have a DM that writes a fun and surprisingly compelling campaign and everyone playing is really into it. ZTD is when the DM stops giving a shit and hastily cobbles some shit together and wings the rest of it, and you start off thinking it's fine but eventually you catch on that he doesn't care anymore and it's shit even if you had some fun with it.
Not everyone is perfect man. Who cares. Im aure he still has plenty of good games left in him.
>just make up your own non canon metafiction, bro
Nah, fuck him. He didn't even try with ZTD. Don't write a series if you are a brainlet who can't come up with a decent ending.
It was objectively less successful on anything but the DS
Just started ZTD. Whats up with the flow chart? Why do you play things in random segemnts? How do you know what to pick so you can see it all in order? This is confusing coming straight from the previous 2 games.
The fact that you don't know what to pick is part of the story. Just go with whatever you want really
Oh ok. Just seems really confusing.
How did they handle the scene at the start where Snake reads the braille tablet that says to seek the 9/q door since it's voiced.
Just going to say this. Play it until you seem like you're stuck and you look up the guide and it says to play certain events in order then put down the game and don't look up spoilers for it. It's way better that way.
She beats you with the staff until you die and you go to heaven.
Welcome to ztd, enjoy the ride
They changed it? 999 is centered around the dual screens so I don't even know why the hell they released another version. Playing this game on a ds emulator with your phone is kino.
>why the hell they released another version
Money, with a series this niche he'd be a fool not to take advantage of fan loyalty with remakes, even if the changes makes the plot take a hit
hey
That picture lmao. With this and how bad ZTD was I think Uchi lost his mind somewhere.
I blame Punchline. The first point of his downward spiral desu
>
The time travel plot twist shit is the best part of these games. Shut the fuck up normie.
To make up for missing a screen, the game is split into "Adventure Mode" (top screen) and "Novel Mode" (bottom screen).
The problem is that you can turn off Novel Mode, and I believe it's off by default?
So when the twist happens, the modes are abruptly renamed to Junpei Vision and Akane Vision. If you had Novel Mode turned off the whole game, it forces Akane Vision on you so it's basically forcefeeding you the twist like a retarded baby and it's possible you don't even have the context to understand the twist.
And the final puzzle is piss-fucking-easy
Just look at this fucking trash
youtube.com
>ZTD
I'm still mad.
Wait, what are they doing? I don't understand the rules of the puzzle
I don't know the logic of it either but the solution is to mirror the numbers. It's incredibly obvious because you can immediately see the solution is PASSWORD, and all you have to do is swap the letters to spell it.
That's it. Whatever the point of the grid is doesn't matter because all you have to do is swap the letters to spell PASSWORD.
Didn't where the Motives too complex for you?
