Wake up! The Darkest Dungeon
...
So I was told Shield Breaker does well with dodge and accuracy quirks. Evasive is obvious enough, but is here melee or ranged accuracy more important? Natural Eye or Natural Swing? I'm assuming not both. If its both I'm almost tempted to try and go for Fated.
that backline spear throwing hog shit ruined the game and you are literally wrong if you say anything else.
Does Fated work for any and all attacks that miss, or just specific moves? Also you can focus either melee or ranged with SB. Super versatile.
I agree that Skiver is a high amount of bullshit and its dumb how much more of a threat he is than Swinetaur, BUT once you know to go in expecting him there are a lot of ways to fuck him over, and by that I mean pulls and stuns. Once he made it into the game it became a mistake to go into warrens without someone that can yank him forward. Luckily a bunch of classes can.
I think fated works for anything that can miss. It's always been kind of confusing how it works or its overall benefit. I have heard conflicting things.
How do I not get assraped in champion level dungeons? It feels like I'm doing very badly even in the short ones that I've done.
What's a good general purpose team for Warrens and Weald? Also how difficult is the Courtyard after Countess is dead?
>New to the game
>100% sure im more stressed out than the heroes
Do not go into Champion dungeons unless the four you are going in with are all Resolve 6. Trust me on this. Also pic related.
Courtyard isn't too bad once Countess is dead, same as usual.
>Warrens
Lotsa bleeds, lotsa evasion. Later you'll need pulls and prot debuffs. I find Occultist > BH > HM > Leper works fine. Don't forget Leper Intimidate can break stealth AND mark.
>Weald
Shrooms, dogs, human enemies. Embrace and accept that you will inevitably get Rabies, let it empower you when it does happen. Accuracy buffs, dodge debuffs, general mix of statuses are good to have. Later you'll need corpse removal for a certain shroomy witch bitch, and accuracy debuffs for a certain giant that can baseball bat any one of your heroes straight to Death's Door with a fucking tree.
I find medium dungeons safer and less likely to fuck me over than short on champion. I actually learned to avoid short and only do medium. A lot of the time it doesn't seem that long and I can save camp for when I'm about to leave to fully remove stress. The gather items one are especially easy if you have an explorer and a map.
Thats another thing. Map and lantern really help if you got them. Also knowing which enemies are likely to be a problem and planning for them. Like, I never go into champ weald without either a position 2 HM or MaA or at least an Occ with the damage reduction curse. This is because I know a giant will fuck me, and guard can greatly trivialize him. All the scariest monsters have something that screws their strat up big time. Know what it is. Look at the wiki if need be. Knowledge is power.
That's how the game is, user. You'll learn from losses and restarts, and you WILL be reminded in due time. Pic related should help you.
>go Antiquarian Vestal MAA Leper into Veteran Ruins Skirmish run
>Vestal has Junia's head
>EVERY SINGLE STRESSFUL INCANTATION
>RIGHT FOR HER AND ONLY HER AND NO ONE ELSE
>FINALLY 100 STRESS
>V I G O R O U S
>clear floor easy after that
>Shambler altar
>reverse party order
>summon Shambler
>Shambler fixes my party order back to normal
>annoying fight but keep everyone alive
>MAA and Antiquarian get afflicted
>Shambler camps back position
>MAA ripostes and Vestal Judgment are the only ways I can hit him now
>Shambler moves up to middle
>got him down to 9 HP
>Antiquarian crits for 9 damage exact with Nervous Stab
>clean up Tentacles soon after
>YET ANOTHER FUCKING ANCESTOR'S BOTTLE
>Radiant mode pussy
>Manage to get some really lucky runs, like having the collector surprised and then stunlocked the first time I see him, get Dismas' head.
>Give Dismas head to Dismas.
>Still got Reynauld, Dismas Vest-shirt and plague-tits, get them to 6 resolve
>Better kill a Hag quickly
>Hag wipes my Leper, Doc and a scrub before I leg it
>Never adventure has the collector turn up
>Surprises me
>Summons auto-critting rogues and vestal healspams
>Collects Dismas
>Collects my white mage
Whoops
well hello there. Just about to start up the game.
Good shit, hope you like it. You wanna keep yourself blind for your first run or find out what you can? If the latter, see the guide in And remind yourself that overconfidence is a slow and insidious killer. Never be afraid to forfeit quests and pussy out if it means people live and you keep some profits.
Remember that if one Antiquarian makes you lodsemone imagine what four Antiquarians will do for you.
Plus if you let it get dark all that treasure will be easy to find. Just look for glittering.
Thx kind anons. But I'm not new to this game, when I said I start up the game I didnt mean for the first time.
Make sure to put a Crusader in the back then, he'll watch out for ambushes
How good is Bounty Hunter? Better than Crusader and Leper?
BH is not a tank. He is a hard hitting boy who can be put in position 3 easily and murder men who get marked and has a couple nice stuns.
>send my good team after the level 3 Necromancer
>figure I'll be fine without weapons/armor/abilities fully upgraded since Necromancer is a bitchbaby no matter his level
>come across the skelly tooter for the first time
>get reminded and run after I kill him and his friends
I want to breed her.
I have yet to find any threat in the Squiffy Ghast. What does he do apart from inflicting insignificant stress DOTs?
How good is the best hero, you ask?
*snort*
Do you guys think of a tank that gets bonus defences versus marked targets could work? Like extra resist and dodge or prot? Or do you think it would make marking parties too good
I just lost a Crescendo box, any way to get it back?
>take auntie on a run for loot
>forget to check my other 3
>they have curio investigating quirks
kicked Veteran Necromancer's ass AND got a free Ancestor's Map through bitch Shambler thanks to early camp buffing Dismas plus TWO fucking Altar of Light RIGHT NEXT TO THE FUCKING SHAMBLER SUMMON
Tanking in general doesn't work because there is no threat mechanic.
>restarts
There's really no reason to restart unless you dismiss your entire roster or something.
There are classes that can literally mark themselves and other party members.
Finally got another Auntie, legit hadn't seen one since my second week, and she got killed. Easy money now, put her on my 3rd team with my level 3-4 dudes, been mopping up money like a mad man, using it to upgrade my best boys and siccing them on bosses.
I'm probably due a reminding though. Had a close call with the Swine King, almost had Wilbur murder my Level 6 Vestal after I'd killed the king, little cunt was dodging everything and whittling away at her health.
Looks like we finally made it... to the Darkest Dungeon. First time finishing the game. 178 hours total playtime. Crimson Court and Shieldbreaker installed. All bosses defeated. All caretaker goals met. All districts, including the Red Hook, constructed.
It was a pretty good game. Only problem I had was that it was pretty grindy. The final quests themselves were finished quickly, on my first attempts.
I sacrificed my Musketeer and Reynauld. Sad to see them go, but I figure I'm done playing the game for quite a while now. Musketeer yelled, "All for one, and one for all!"
Reynauld yelled, "Unholy foulness! I will take you with me!" I felt it was for the best, that Dismas could find his redemption further in life, and learn from the sacrifice of his best friend. My Musketeer, once a failure in her ambitions, became the first place winner in the hearts of my heroes, to be remembered evermore.
I have finally beaten all lvl 3 bosses. Just waited for the quest that gives buff in the next quest to each area. Playing it safely paid off even though it took extra weeks. Should I tackle Darkest Dungeon or activate CC stuff?
You should do a Darkest Dungeon quest, and then that'll leave some room in your roster to build a team for tackling the Crimson Court.
Today I was reminded once again.
Crow faggot crits my lgendary BH two times in a row and then gives him a first try death blow with his aoe scream before I could do anything like protecting or healing him.
marked targets are more likely to be attacked even by enemies who don't have specific attacks that deal more damage to marks. Skills that guard also count as tanking.
When will we get a 2018 edition?
What's the best way to train resolve level 5 heroes?
Guys is there a way to get trinkets back that you lost in battle? Will they also make the shrieker show up?
You mean to train heroes up to level 5? If you're really lucky, hold onto good level three heroes when you find them--especially ones which would be an asset to your roster already. If you have enough space, but no immediate concerns, it's possible you could make a good team of level threes.
Otherwise, your best option is to start a full team at level 0. If you find a good hero who doesn't show up often at a higher level, you can often level into them, replacing a leper you leveled up from 0 to 2 with a man at arms who was already at 2, for example.
cut that waifufaggotry out please, this isn't /vg/
>marked targets but no BH
CAWCAWCAWCAWCAW
In nearly every circumstance after I had lost trinkets, it caused the Shrieker quest for recovery to spawn and to remain around until I went in to fight him.
>using shitty mods
>not sacrificing the Leper and the Flagellant, since this is what they want
>sacrificing anyone at all
The shrieker also collects the trinkets your heroes lose in town and on party wipe, iirc. I just had the dick steal 8 trinkets but I don't have any heroes up to the task.
No train resolve level 5 heroes, I've gone a year (in game) carefully not getting reminded. Just beat the level 2 prophet and took all his pews and almost no stress. I don't want to be reminded.
>Not sacrificing the women because that's what they don't want
>Not already using your one shitty Leper on DD3, preventing him from going to DD4
>Taking a Flagellant or a Leper to a quest where you need to bring a Crusader and a Highwayman--meaning that the Crusader is going to be fucked with his Holy Lance during boss fights where there isn't a proper target
>Not improving your game by replacing the nigger Arbalest, and adding more variety between your six Vestals, while upping the model quality on your Highwayman and Crusader
>Not sacrificing people because regardless of whether they "want" it or not, it's the obligation of a hero.
I'm thinking about installing the 3 trinket mod, not because I want it easier but because I want more build variety, I do not have any other gameplay changing mods besides the musketeer mod. Opinions?
>he needs 6 vestals
>tried to do a one man flagellant run
>died
>lost garlic and +40 healing trinket
>Stygian
JUST
REMINDED
You got that honestly. Why would you beg to be reminded like that?
>Need
The vestals merely pile up as they're the most convenient tool for leveling up new hero teams and are the most reliable for Crimson Court content. When making hero teams, most of them are going to need a healer, and there isn't much reason to pile up Occultists because they aren't consistent. You're only other options are leveling up strong off-healers like the Arbalest, Flagellant, or possible Antiquarian, or using a mod like the Lamia. I had already an Arbalest and a Musketeer, and there's tons of competition for position 3 and 4. The Flagellant is another unreliable healer and too specialized to perform well in the Ruins or Cove. Antiquarians are essentially worthless, as by the end of the game I wasn't even picking up treasure because I had over 1.5 million gold and all the upgrades and districts. Beyond that, the one Lamia I had was on the bench 24/7 because healbots aren't worth bringing when you have Vestals.
Even if I had two or three Vestals, I would use a skin because the skins are of good quality and it's more interesting to have totally unique characters than just recolours.
Man I'm really torn on this game. I really like the atmosphere e and the aesthetic but I hate turn based games. Should I just give it a shot?
Yes, because if you "hate turn-based games," you're either just an ignorant casual or a tasteless retard. As stupid as children who say they, "Like all music except country and rap," or refuse to play Japanese games.
There is no reason to dislike turn-based games.
>clear Long Ruins "Clear 100% all room battles"
>Arbalest Occultist Dismas Reynauld
>camp right before Shambler Altar, buff Dismas and Arbalest, switch around party
>pop holy waters, summon Shambler
>Shambler fixes my party
>fight going great, but Tentacles focus Reynauld
>"Reynauld's resolve is being tested..."
>F O C U S E D
>"Go forth, friend. TO VICTORY!"
>Dismas gets buffed
>his turn
>Crits Shambler with 52 damage Point-Blank Shot
>obtain Ancestor's Scroll
Is there a better feeling than having a Shambler fight go this well and avoiding pic related?
Should have had Musketeer and Flagellant sacrificed instead so you end up with pic related on their way back.
I think pvp would be fun
Are you blind? He's in the pic right behind Houndmaster
t. Vinesauce
Have anyone tried 3 trinkets? It trivializes the game or it adds a little bit of variety and fun?
>Taking both Dismas and Reynauld to a single quest near the end of the game
>Fighting the Champion Shambler on that same quest
You better fucking remind yourself, even if you got lucky.
The latter
Trivializes the game. There's a reason why you're only allowed to lock in 3 positive quirks. A complete hero will have two strong trinkets, and then three relatively strong "trinkets" in the quirks they have locked in. The game is already pretty easy, if you have an extra major trinket slot, it'll be a cakewalk as you can negate huge stress penalties on most of the best items with that slot.
I guess you were reminded.
>Blocks your path
What does reynauld even need redemption from? Mind that i beat the kleptomania out of him on the week sanitarium became available
Where's the crossbow?
I just need to edit the goat's head onto the skiver.
From abandoning his wife and kid, I'd assume.
I'm confused, I'll keep thinking on it, for me the most important is not to make the game a cakewalk.
Abandoning his wife and son, and committing excessive amounts of killing. As they say, "war does not make one great." Think on his trinket, that he resolves to forget his family as regret is a sin, but it's clear that anybody would have doubts on that.
>CRIPPLE THEM
>CRIT! 37!
>AND NOW, THE TRUE TEST
I play Darkest Dungeon, too. Mark doesn't guarantee that you get attacked.
Is it really neccessary for that shit to stun
He's saying that you can lock in good quirks that add to stats. Further you can clear bad quirks and just get the boosts. It's like having a third trinket you can customize to the extent rng rolls good quirks. Having a 3rd trinket slot would be broken and the game is balanced to 2 for a reason.
I NEED MONEY
You see this motherfucker right here? This motherfucker right here hit like a motherfucker
Antiquarian, brainlet.
HOL' UP
>TRIGGERS FEROCIOUS AFTER THREE ROOMS

>LOCKS IN WEAK GRIP ON LIFE
SO YOU BE SAYIN'
>SMACKS YOUR HOUNDMASTER FOR 48 CRIT, INFLICTS BLEEDING
YOU BE SAYIN' THAT
>MISSES ON THE RIPOSTE
WE WUZ
>HEARTATTACK -- DEATHBLOW!
GLADIATORS N' SHIIIEEEEET?!
hook him to the front and kill all his friends as fast as possible. Hes similar to the Swinetaur in that regard, you just got to grab your ankles harder if you cant keep him from hanging in the back
kek
Threat doesn't guarantee that you get attacked either, great point.
Dude, + scouting on med-long non boss quests or do short Auntie Warbucks runs
...
Any other /oldfags/ here who played before Cove was even released?
Champ Shambler is that bad?
Champion Shambler has a large difficulty curve compared to Veteran. The only way it could be worse is if you fought the Champion Fanatic with Reynauld and Dismas.
me
Yeah, it does. That's why I was pointing out that this game has no threat mechanic.
I fought both Necromancer Apprentice AND Necromancer with Reynauld and Dismas and the original Vestal and PD. Planning on doing the same with Necromancer Lord. Also planning on taking all four to DD4 once I get to that point.
No, it doesn't.
>Not doing holier than thou or last crusading his ass.
That's fine. Necromancer is one of the easiest bosses in the game. The problem is just using Reynauld and Dismas at the same time on random quests and against tough enemies.
I, for example, used Reynauld throughout the entire Crimson Court--but not on bosses. Dismas was used often for gold runs. But I never played with them together, just in case one died, it would improve my chances of resurrecting them.
HELLION COMIC WHEN!
>Hellion with two old Hellion Pins
That was fun
