How do you feel about the upcoming online RPG shooter Anthem?
Its produced by Electronic Arts and developed by Bioware (the actual Bioware, not the american studio that made the MMO and Andromeda).
They say its not at all like Destiny, but it looks a lot like Destiny.

EA
That all i need to not touch that dumpster fire
It's a game
We know exactly how EA would handle a destiny-like game. No thank you.
Disney castrated them after Battlefront, maybe they'll be fair with the microtransactions.
>EA
Let the salt begin
user, they are moving on to manipulating matchmaking like the one in Activision patent.
do we got any gameplay of it?
After 90% of the DOTA2 playerbase shat on Valve for having a completely raw and by the numbers matchmaking, calling it "fixed", I guess players really want an actual fixed matchmaking that feels "natural" rather than a natural that feels fixed.
There's some from the last E3 half a year ago.
youtube.com
Its a generic third person shooter for gamepads with more than usual mobility for your dude.
>disney castrated them
Disney was the one who gave the "OK" on the lootboxes in the first place
Playerbases are retarded in general when it comes to matchmaking and how it works.
Looked amazing but again EA.
Now I am interested just to see the new way they will Fuck up because I think they burn up the lootboox bridge.
Looks like generic easy-to-consume crap that wont challenge you in your skill or mind. Like destiny. Just a highly marketed service of a board-room/psychiatrist research crafted 'experience' that plays on strategical hooks rather than quality of the content.
Do you exclusively play reflex games like shmups, because muh skill?
i dont buy ea or ubisoft games
i think them companies are cancer
I hope Anthem will be the game that finally kills Bioware.
it ea so it bad
>ea
im good thanks
reminder
No need to go to the extremes bucko, no way a big project like this (made by a mobile-game mentality developer) would risk creating player discomfort through a skill fully demanding gameplay, which could create a frustrating experience through lack of immediate accessibility for the average brainlet that buys battlefront or fifa cards between his candy crush sessions. It's gonna be brainless smooth sailing through tricks, like assassins creed. Avoid challenging the player but pepper him with menial tasks that creates *pings* and experience bars start moving every 20 sseconds. So he'd feel like he'd done something.
Enjoy the high fidelity graphics for a shit pie.
>all these anti-ea posts
EA is just the money man. They aren't making it, they're selling it.
>bioware
>open world
>rpg
please get me a bucket i just remembered dragon age inquisition
it will be downgraded to shit
It honestly looks like shit.
Will probably be popular amongst the rat kids
I can't understand how someone could believe it was real or even running in real time.
The game's concept is possible, but not in the quality it was presented. At least not nowdays.
It's better this way. Let them pass one final turd and then die. Their shriveled corpse finally dropping from the beasts grasp
it's a mercy. Really, they've been dead since the Doctors left.
>as it is the same leadership
But this is wrong. Bioware Austin did SWOTOR and Andromeda, the two big flops.
OG Bioware still failed with DA:Inquisition and Mass Effect 3, but they weren't nearly as disastrous.
And it is OG BIoware making Anthem, not the american studio that failed with Andromeda.
I suspect they mean the executives
I don't get it. What was so oh-too-great-to-be-true about it? Generic 3rd person babooning around.
The executives have nothing to do with development.
He means the managers, and Andromeda had its own managers for most of development, they only got a couple of guys from Canada to come for the last stretch, so that SOME game is released from this mess.
Its not at all the same management.
He means the visuals, effects and whatnot, especially considering that this is supposed to be some open-world type of deal or something. It's not something the PS4 or Xbone could handle.
you're most likely right, infact, IIRC, the other bioware managers had to come in at the end to fix shit.
Even so, I doubt we're gonna see much from Anthem. Suspect it'll all be instanced per party.
EA means cash shop
bioware means shitty developers
the name is Bioware realizing Mass Effect brand isn't worth shit anymore so they struck out calling it Mass Effect even though Anthem's artwork makes it pretty obvious it was supposed to be a Mass Effect franchise game.
Ah, was it claimed to be running on a console during e3? I guess that would make sense then. Otherwise it was a generic e3 presentation and those are frequently cobbled together to represent/market what the finished product allegedly would be. Shitty practice, but scandals abound already from it.
Disney doesn’t own EA only had them as a partner that could make Star Wars games. EA is still a separate entity that can do whatever the fuck it wants as long as it isn’t Star Wars. Even then Disney didn’t give a fuck about what they did in fact they encouraged it.
>actual Bioware
Bioware was dead long before Andromeda. As for the game itself: I like the aesthetics and the mech designs, and I think if the movement capabilities are good that could be enjoyable. However I think the writing will be terrible and the rest of the gameplay will be boring third person shoot ‘n’ loot, and I think EA will act as if they didn’t learn anything from Battlefront.
Regardless EA has a habit of either cutting all development or culling the studio completely if dollar signs are popping up in huge quanities. EA is purely about making as much money as possible with the most bullshit methods and throw in a dash of virtue signaling. You would think after the tire fire that was Andromeda they would realize virtue signaling and affirmative action hires is what screwed them over.
>maybe they'll be fair with the microtransactions.
I can taste the soy from here
No need to ask Sup Forums. I'll sum it up.
1. most of Sup Forums will hate it because of EA and Bioware. Though some on Sup Forums will say we should see the game before judging. and an even smaller group of contrarians will claim the game is amazing
2. It'll sell well anyway despite being full of micro-transactions
3. It will be overshadowed by MHW
I think it looks like a really fun game to play with others and I hope it's good. Sadly, EA.
Nobody cares what you thinks
Afcourse it will sell well. Thats the reason EA is where it's at. Theres a presentation by the Battlefield Online developer where he layed this out years ago. People who have righteous mindset and are loud on the forums about dislike of the flat out P2W are outnumbered significantly by pure buying force of those who don't care. They made bank by ignoring the forum complainers and even alot of those caved in. Much like those faggots boycotting Call of Duty on steam.
Thats why EA can sweet talk in PR all they want, in the mean time the chads are buying all the microtransaction garbage non-stop without a care in the world. Thinking EA is getting a dent in their finances from recent events is a placebo to feel good about. Theyre closing studios because they can open another microtransaction producing service instead of a dead-space or mass effect for the cost. Greedy fucks.
It's going to be a buggy and microtransaction filled mess. A few months after release EA is going to say it has "not met sales expectations" and then add Bioware to its mass grave of developers it has killed.
I wonder if the very first game devs envisioned shit like this happening. are there any left we can ask?
Will never be a great as Mass Effect
t. soon to be waifufagging anthem characters
This. But since Sup Forums is 70% underage they wouldn’t know how a company works
t.I don't know how game publishing works
Oh you mean the Bioware that developed Mass Effect 3?
Yeah nah
They commission a studio they own to produce another subscription service with reocurring payments in the disguise of a game.
We all know how it works.
EA is a company that publishes games. If you finished high school you’d understand how publishing works.
>EA
>bioware
Yeah they said it was running on Xbox One X.
Well, then I guess you better keep studying
Oh, yeah. I forgot about this thing.
They decide how the money is made, and that affects development.
Do you think there's an EA exec somewhere kicking himself for pulling Bioware from DA4 or KotOR 3 for anthem now destiny 2 has failed so spectacularly.
it looks very cool, i will consider buying it depending on my financial situation.
Nah. He's going "Kotor who? - I don't care, make it into a mobile game!"
Lesst we forget Dungeon Keeper.
>spend millions of dollars and several months to make a game
>demands money for it
NONONONONNNOOOOOOOO IT CAN'T GO LIKE THIS PIRATEBROS!!! ANTHEM DAY 1 CRACK FUCKING WHEN???
>make a game
>He thinks he's buying a game, while he's paying to access a slot machine section with no payouts
I bet you pay for an access to facebook too
I almost forgot about it
>now destiny 2 has failed so spectacularly
Has it?
the iron man game ive always wanted
>EA(t shit)
dropped
Going by the E3 trailer this strikes me as one of those games that will either never actually get released or if it does come out will end up looking nothing like this trailer.
Focus on multiplayer was a mistake. Bioware cant do that kind of shit. It also makes me not wanna check it out despite liking dragon age and mass effect
Didn't Bioware swallow all of Mythic's staff? They've done multiplayer.
Well it looks good, but don't know can Xbox One X handle it like that in reality? Maybe?
But it looks interesting. Let us see in the future.
Yes, Bungie essentially made the game they precisely weren't supposed to make if they learned anything from Destiny 1.
If they zoom in the camera, so that the HUD and character model take up half the screen, and there is less environment to render, it could.
Well that is right. But also is waste of good graphics...
Anthem is an inferior Destiny which is in itself an inferior Warframe, which is itself an average game. And Anthem is made by EA. So, this game's deader than dead on arrival.
>destiny by ea on all platforms
sounds like a money printer to me
>Electrostatic Farts
Dropped
Would be a fun attack tho
There's not enough information on the game to have an opinion. Who cares?
>darvin111
>wimbizzle
Why should anyone take these literally whos seriously?
wisdom
>There's not enough information on the game to have an opinion. Who cares?
There's gameplay footage, trailers, released screens and concepts.
Meanwhile 2000 posts today over a single tweet from the Cyberpunk account. No gameplay, no screenshots, we don't even know what genre it will be.
>Waifufag chimes in.
Considering the Mass Effect series is a slightly above average as RPG. There never was a great mass effect. Your shit taste is eternal.
>Implying that nu-Bioware could make anything worth waifufagging over
Gamers really are like beaten spouses that keep crawling back to their abusers. I know it's difficult, but it would be better if everyone just stopped supporting these shitheads already. At least temporarily. Yeah BF2 had public outcry but they still made a lot of money and because of people like you they're going to make a ton of money for the next one too.
>Gameplay footage
You did read the E3 jargon, right? It's a "gameplay" trailer... TRAILER! It's not a demo. Their PR department chooses their words carefully to shit on tools like you. You know what else was a gameplay trailer? The Division gameplay TRAILER and the actual game falls way shy of that.
>Trailers
You're right, there's all of ONE worthwhile trailers.
>Released screens.
Screens from the E3 trailer.
There's very little information outside of conceptual information and speculation. If there's something I'm missing, you're welcome to link some of it here and enlighten us all.
>actual Bioware
>Canada
>Andromeda Bioware
>Montreal
>America
>produced by Electronic Arts and developed by Bioware
So it's shit
E3 trailer means it will be lower res and closer draw distance on release. It doesn't mean it will be a different game. Stop playing the eternal contrarian.
I'll probably dredge up my warframe account before I play that.
Can't wait to see another EA dumpster fire, the trailer at E3 was cringy thanks to the dude bro/gamer gurl tier dialogue.
Should be renamed to *Ahem*
>DAI failed
Just because you didn't like the game doesn't mean it failed. Out of all the games Bioware recently released Inquisition is the most decent one. The only real glaring problem with it is that the gameplay is a single player mmo, everything else was okay.
>if you don't care about this VIDEO GAME gameplay the gay romance was okay
I don't trust Bioware anymore, it's got overrun by 'progressive' left SJW.
