It will not matter because from now on, consoles will be incremental updates of the same architecture, like PCs. PS5 will be an updated version of PS4 and games will be forward and backward compatible.

The PS3 and PS4 have a *very* different architecture. They probably couldn't keep on developing the PS3's architecture while remaining competitive (which is a shame) so they had to ditch it. Emulating the PS3 is difficult.

the architecture had nothing to do with the removal of backwards compatibility from the ps3. They removed the emulation to cut costs. The ps4 not being backwards compatible was due to ps3 architecture and because people will buy ps2 games again.
