No you misunderstood me. The Witcher 3 and Dark Souls are not really ROLE PLAYING games. They are just action games that force you to play one way and your character gets stronger as you go but youre still doing the same kind of combat at the beginning and the end. An RPG should let you pick your play style and go down that path. Skyrim does that better than other games released in the past 7 years.

Well I agree with you on Dark Souls being an action game but don't agree that it forces you to do the same thing, especially if you say Skyrim doesn't fall into that pit as well. But even if Skyrim does skill building better than any other game released in the last 7 years, that doesn't make it inherently good, and no matter how hard I try, mods can't make it good. At the heart the game will always be dragged down by poor melee combat, lazily written characters and quests, and repetitive dungeons.
A 12 year old might look like a genius to a pack of 8 year olds but can still be a complete dumbass to a 30 year old.

finally someone understands me enough that i make a post instead of lurking. it's the same with Fallout3. exploring has to be the most fun part for me cuz the combat is pretty crappy. and Skyrim is just awesome to explore, the combat is easy enough to deal with
