My only complaint is that Blastoise isn;t using his original Gen 1/2/3 proportions where his cannon ports actually were smooth and made sense rather then rectuangular, among the other proportiona differences

Every single character except maybe croagunk is viable in top level play; both the NA and JP scenes haven't even bothered to make a tier list because it's just that balanced there's no point in it; The few people that HAVE made them have like 90% in the cast all in the top 2 tiers, pic related

Except I follow the scene and go to events. I don't know what "top 10" you are talking about, so I can't say for cetain, but that tier list is still roughly accurate.

The game was at over 20 majors this past year with an average entrant number of around 60 people. That's more or less on par with the arc sys games or any other FGC title that's not SF, NRS, Smash, Tekken, or MVC; and well ahead of stuff like KOF, KI, or SKullgirls in activity.

As a Venusaurfag I excepted long ago that there was no chance in hell it would become playable. The only thing that kind of irritates me about Blastoise is the fact that it's yet another Gen I pokémon. I mean, I understand that Gen I pokémon are the most recognizable but I would have really liked another Gen II/V/VII pokémon instead.

Not really? Again, it's about as active as any fighting game can be that's not one of the absolute giant titles. Pokken never had a chance to be one of tthose huge titles due to nintendo's piss poor marketing and handling of post release conent and demographic issues.

You pretty much see the entire cast at tournaments. Not gonna include/consider the DX characters here since the NA scene is still learning them.

Git gud, it's not broken at all. Braixen was absolutely good, but she wasn't OP, which can be easiil seen with how many other characters made top 8's and won majors; plus braixen got big nerfs in DX. As far as moves that defy the triangle, these almost all have rawbacks: Overheat is punishable, and leaves chandelure with two debuffs. Shadow Mewtwo's Vortex drains his already low health, psystrike is easily predictable to read and punish with counter attack, and Dragon Rush ust isn't that threatening.

I garunteee you for every even slightly BS thing in Pokken, of which there's not much, there's like 10 way more busted things in any other fighting game.

Pokken had massive buzz, a ton of marketing support and FGC outreach, and the numbers to challenge the bigs. It failed to maintain that precisely because of its low skill-ceiling and fucked balance.

For the first few weeks it was out it had more entrants than SFV at my locals. Now? I don't even think guys who did well at CEO like Bim Swillow and Suicune play

Swift is literally shooting stars at your opponent. Pokemon moves don't make sense. Fucking Strength has been represented by throwing a rock at someone for like 5 gens.

Competitive Pokémon was kinda eh since you always get some autistic person who knows the meta like the back of his hand but Gen 6 and Gen 7 just ended up power-creeping about half of the Pokémon to fucking neverused. Even in Gen 5 you could still use some of your favorites. Nowadays its just shit.

Xatu is a wonderful pokemon. But I have to use his shitty "set-up" moves like Future-Sight and Wish for "lore" purposes and I know he ends up trash then.

No it didn't, what fucking planet are you on? Nintendo barely mentioned it, and when they did, they treated it like a casual fighter which made the FGC not give a shit. Not only did they not host streams of FGC majors with the game, their own official events with it weren't even streamed on the main pokemon twitch channel. Darkrai, Empoleon, Scizor, and Crogaunk were held back for the switch, whcih made people think the game was abandoned, and then even when DX got announced, they botched it by making it the focus of the pokemon direct, pissing fans off, and then botched further chances to market it in linewith nintendo vs by not streaming their showoff event at pax or posting the japanese trailers in english.

The only sort of "FGC outreach" it had was being at evo, which was botched by more mangement that caused delays, and the game being so new that nobidy knew how to deal with zoning, which made the showing boring as shit, which still plagues the game's perception in the FGC despite the meta being almost the opposite now.

why should Nintendo do this when TPCI, which actually does, do it?

He's really not. Look at what the other guy said, he's kinda RNG reliant, because one of his move randomly throws out 5 things, each one having a different use. You might get lucky and get what you need/want, or get unlucky and lose the game because you keep fucking blowing yourself up

forgot to mention, some of his moves buff himself, debuff himself, buff the enemy, or debuff them. What debuff/buff it is is random, and if it is a buff or debuff is also random. So you might aim to debuff them to help yourself cause you're getting low, well now they're faster and stronger.
Thankfully you can steal their buffs though.
