How do I get the beta? When is it?

...

Wasn't there supposed to be a v-jump this week to reveal the last character(s)?

I think it will be available on consoles in their respective shops for download, I'm not sure though.
13th
12:00 AM CST.

Usually around 16-18th

reminder not to let wifi warriors false flag you into buying the version with input lag, monthly payments to go online, inferior graphics, and no resolution or controller support

it's only the 13th if you preordered the game, 14th for everyone else.

I left out some important details
13th for preorder 14-15th for everyone.
They last all day in CST.

Team for beta pic related
First team on release Hit, Ginyu, Yamcha

Why did they associate Hit with Jazz? I like the theme but it doesn't seem to fit him

>SuperSaiyanShowdown
This thing will be a mess but it is cool to see VAs legitimately interested in the game. It really is down to them pushing for an event.

twitter.com/FUNimation/status/951238444243701767

Assassins fit the whole underground seedy bar vibe so jazz makes sense. Doesn't really fit him that well but I like the theme

Extremely true. PC is the superior version in every way.
Not to mention how the streamers and their audience alone will keep it alive merely for the ease of usage.

>Who are you playing in the beta?
Don't have PS4 with me, can't play. Wish I could try out Nappa & Beerus.
>Who will you play on release?
Some combo of 16, Piccolo, Ginyu, Nappa, Krillin, Beerus, Tien, & Blue Vegeta with whoever works with them in terms of synergy.
>What will 21 play like?
Depends on if her final form is the playable one or boss-exclusive. Her default form will probably have a long-range counter playstyle that neutralizes ranged options by absorption or something while playing keepaway herself. Her Final/Majin form if playable would probably have a more straight-forward playstyle.

dont forget: NO MODS

>Who are you playing in the beta?
Gohan, Krillen, switching up the third slot

>Who will you play on release?
Hit, Krillin, Goku blue to start with.

>What will 21 play like?
I imagine she'll summon projectile shooting things with a straightforward melee style.

On another note, how high can we set the AI difficulty? Not really looking forward to "gettin gut" by getting bodied by people who played the previous beta.

V-JUMP LEAK FUCKING WHEN

any word on if we'll be able to directly connect to friends in the beta? if not I guess going to a really small lobby and trying to connect there works

>posts pic of game population taken during winter sale when there is a surge compared to console version that wasn't on sale

It was barely getting over 200 before December 21st.

it's amazing actually. this idea that fighting games are somehow flooding with players on PS4 will always be one of the biggest fallacies perpetuated by Sony fan boys.

the reality is that the PC version of any fighting game is 99% of the time superior to its console counterpart and the genre is only continuing to grow on PC as it gets more love from developers.

...

Reminder that he will be dlc

They're probably gonna be ass, but at the very least I know Sean can do more than button mash.

Correlation =/ Causation

Goofy Goober is dead as fuck game regardless of what system it's on.

I'll probably stick with a combo of Goku, Vegeta, Frieza, Gohan, and Cell.

It's a whole new game for me, not at all like SF, MK, KI, or Tekken. I only really have a base understanding of Marvel and I played my team in a pretty rudimentary way and I've played Guilty Gear maybe twice. I want to have an easy time confirming into damage so I can focus on learning the neutral game.

In the full game I'll be playing more complex characters. Tien is a definite pick, then some combination of Piccolo, Krillin, Trunks, Yamcha, Kid Buu, Hit, Goku Black, SSGSS Goku, and Cell. I'm loving the space control in this game and I'm really interested in Krillin and his ability to stagger his rhythm for mind games

...

A18 mod will be glorious on PC. I need a bikini mod.

Fighting Games on PC will never be able to catch up to console population.

Just because some shit anime game managed to surpass PS4 in players after they just finished having a winter sale on PC, doesn't mean shit.

Just look how NRS treated MKX for the PC, fucking horribly.
PC always gets shafted when it comes to fighting games, whether in patches, cheats, or just updates.

They're just now giving a shit imo.

>A18 mod will be glorious on PC. I need a bikini mod.
That's not how it works.

>Costume mods with this graphics style
I hope you're ready to mod in shading by hand for every single frame user.

>I'm really interested in Krillin and his ability to stagger his rhythm for mind games
My man. His delayable Kamehameha that you can jump during is going to be such a neat tool for catching people and applying pressure from a distance if you have a good assist.

>but at the very least I know Sean can do more than button mash.
Does he play many fighting game?

He's a Street Fighter 2fag and really wanted Super DBZ to take off more.

I pre-ordered through the psn store but aint got my early access code yet. The bamco website there will be a seperate option on the store for pre-order folks to get the early beta access. I can't find it though.
bandainamcoent.com/news/dragon-ball-fighterz-faq
I'm EU if that matters.

if i preordered like 2 months ago from gamestop how do i get my code?

So I can still throw down 5 bucks on a pre-order and grab the code, right? Or will I actually have to put up 60 bucks to reserve this shit?

DBFZ btfo. It's absolutely unacceptable for a dragon ball game to have such a tiny ass roster
youtu.be/c9NvhGd_UZA

NA only gets early beta access through digital pre-orders.
The rest of the world gets emailed a beta code on all pre-orders, or just buy one from Gamestop from the clerk.

...

Roster size isn't significant in comparison to character depth.
Fighterz has arguably the best roster in DB game history barring Tenkaichi 3 having every single fucking character.

Legacy support confirmation pls. I don't want to buy another stick.

...

>character depth

All the characters have like 4 specials at max. The game has as much depth as a kiddie pool

>BT3, most characters play the same, most characters can hold their own
>XV2, most characters are generally different from each other but some characters share strings, 90% of the cast is completely useless
>DBFZ, all characters play differently, every character has their own use

So you have balance vs sheer numbers.

some have more than 4
also "amount of special moves" is a dumb way of looking at it considering a bunch of command normals or S buttons add character options
i'm guessing people think that way because of the movelist only including specials

You'd know all about kiddie pools, you baby.
Depth =/= number of moves. Especially in a tag game. I'm not saying the game is deep but number of moves per character is not indicative of it let the game come out first before we slap a label on it.

who is he and why should I care?

That's more of a WB thing.

I remember in addition to the MKX pc Port, the pc port to Arkham Knight was fucking trash too.

He's not wrong, honestly, and roster size is going to be the main criticism.

i think it's very weird people expect more than 24+8 characters on a game like this
i get that it's because of marvel and other db games but those are not fair comparisons

>comments disabled
lol

> roster size is going to be the main criticism.
From the people who are not the target audience or weren't even going to buy the game in the first place

just out of interest, what other characters do you think have a large enough unique movepool in manga/anime to create an entire moveset in this game?

did anyone expect more than 24 characters in the bsae roster?
Xenoversefags and Tenkaichifags maybe

From idiots perhaps. A fighting game getting 24 fighters in it's first game is quite a lot. Especially for ArcSys who usually tops out around a dozen or so in their first go-around.

Dude. One of the million complaints for MvCI was its roster. Not just the retarded as choices and characters that didn't make the cut, but the size itself. DBFZ is even smaller. It looks even smaller when you consider it's a 3v3 game. And it looks even worse when you look into the number of normals and specials for each character. Even worse when you consider how many of those specials are shared between characters.

At least the roster picks are good, because the size is not and really there's no good justification.

Hit, Yamcha, and Teen Gohan.
Stylish combos

>roster size is going to be the main criticism.
Why is anyone complaining about devs not being able to develop more fighters with depth when they should be complaining about how more than half of the characters from previous rosters were actually useless or just clones.

MvCI missed characters that it should've had and were literally a simple as copy and pasting from the previous games. It was an actual downgrade.

Cell
Piccolo
Nappa

Got some PC space all cleared up already for the weekend.

>Teen Gohan
>Stylish combos
lol

No, the problem with MVCI's roster is that it had fucking terrible choices, not that it was small.

>but the size itself.
because it was reused assets that missed out many poplar characters

DBFZ is a whole new game for a style that is incredibly time consuming going for manga accurate moves

>number of normals and specials for each character
Normal amount for VS games

Definitely Frieza and Beerus. Still haven't decided on a third.

MvCI tried to defend removing mutants because nobody cares about them or knows who they are and nobody should care because captain marvel can fly like mags. Can't see how that went wrong with beloved characters that are the main reason your franchise even got started.

user, I...

Was it adult Gohan with the special little mechanic then? Him is the one for my team.

Honestly I have no clue. But cracking that 30 character count will be good (with DLC). And like I said, I'm happy with the roster picks, probably with the exception of the SSBSS and even then that's not a big deal.

But it's going to be the main complaint from critics and it's a legitimate one.

>with the special little mechanic then?
what do you mean ?
the install ?

No, MvCi had a good roster size, it was porting over the lame characters and not enough new characters that was the problem. Almost all of the veterans are copy pasted from mvc3 but the ones that htey picked (firebrand, spencer) was completely retarded. DBFZ is building characters from the ground up. Its not the devs fault that xenoverse has a million watered down clones instead of vibrant characters

Yeah, Adult Gohan has it.

>it's a legitimate one
A small roster for a new IP in a team game based on team comp and team synergy is not a legit complaint in any means.

>and it's a legitimate one.

Not for the first entry in a series it isn't. Most traditional fighting games don't even crack 20 in their first installments.

Literally both Bandai and Arcsys games all have it.

>guilty gear
>long running franchise on the most popular storefront and platform of all time
>430 in a single day
>DBZ
>closed beta
>200 players at some random time
I feel like I should feel sorry for Guilty Gear.

>PC
>ready for beta
Heh

Of course it is, especially when the game has a huge emphasis on universal mechanics. Hell, just take grabs for example. Most games have little nuances beside just the animation. Some have different ranges, kara cancels, whatever. Everyone has a grab, it's a universal mechanic but some are better than others. Here, it's all the same with the only difference being the short air combo afterwards.

Then a single assist option, while great for balance, really reduces your options.

And most traditional fighting games aren't 3v3 and don't need the bigger roster.

>opponent is cornered and crouch blocking
>call in kamehameha assist and keep them in crouching blockstun
Will an overhead actually connect on them or no?

Its 2018 and there is only 1 female in this game.

...

they can just block high, you're never stuck in one kind of block in fighting games
you can mix them up though of course

That's called progress

More shocking since it's a Japanese game.

We need more buxom broads in tiny miniskirts.

You are never stuck blocking one way, also reflect

It being a 3v3 game doesn't suddenly mean it's gonna get 50 characters from the jump. Marvel only got rosters as big as it did by building up to it over a series of 2v2 games and then reusing assets like crazy.

good waifushit almost killed the genre

>also reflect
You can't reflect during blockstun unless it's a level one projectile like Vegeta's assist. Any other move has to be reflected while out of blockstun.

This. Marvel 3 had as many as it did at launch because it reused some assets from Tatsunoko vs Capcom for characters like Ryu, Morrigan, Chun, & Zero.

>Beta and release
>Frieza/Cell/Beerus
I liked the first two in their arcs and even though I haven't watched Super, Beerus looks cool and fun to play

prepare to be disappointed
the way arcsys does the character models and shading makes character mods almost impossible

Final team is gonna be team human genocide: Black, Kid Buu and Frieza.

DB females that have attacks:
>Launch
>Chichi
>Zangya
>Videl
>Towa
>Caulifla
>Kale
>Kefla

DB females with an actual moveset:
>Towa
>Kefla

DB females more likely than DLC bait like Vegito, Bardock, Broly, Roshi, SS4 character, Kid goku, and some movie character like cooler
>

Now you see why we don't get females.

couldn't you then create a situation where they are constantly in block stun? Just apply pressure, have assists that lasts long enough for you to recover and then start again

Ian Sinclair, the voice of Whis, thinks they’re gonna both button mash.

so are deflects vulnerable to dragon rushes?

Assists can only be used once during a combo, and I believe if they are used during a block string they have X's on them and can't be called until you reset again. So there's always going to be some sort of gap the player can escape from.

Yes. Reflects can deflect everything that isn't a grab. And Dragon Rush counts as a universal throw/grab.

>they added hit
they said it wouldn't be done

can't wait for him to jump in when one of them starts getting cocky
