Final Fantasy X

I just played this and I still don't understand how Jecht ended up in Spira. Also, if Jecht could control Sin, why did he kill people and not go after places with no population? He could've demonstrated his destructive power to Tidus in some barren place. Is Yuna supposed to be Asian or White?

I can answer your questions really easy OP.

Tidus's Zanarkand is not the real one, but a time displaced copy created by Yu Yevon hidden somewhere in the ocean of modern day Spira. Jecht simply escapes it, tasks Auron to find Tidus there, and crashes the place as Sin to will Tidus into action believing he'll be the one to stop him.

Long story short there's no time travel involved.

Tidus and Jecht's Zanarkand was a dream, Jecht somehow broke out of the dream.

The Calm is the period where the Guardian that was chosen to become Sin was in full control still, and would be away from everyone. I think the desire to see Tidus and Sin's influence probably was the reason for that.

I guess Asian.

Jecht also isn't THAT in control of Sin. Sin is destructive by nature, Jecht did his best to simply steer it. Notice that Jecht couldn't simply not fight Tidus and co. at the end of the game.

Just play the superior game.

FFX and beyond are shit user. The plot being idiotic in this one is the least of my concerns.

>I still don't understand how Jecht ended up in Spira
Sin was able to interact with the dream version of Zanarkand and manifested a real version of Jecht in Spira. Just like how Tidus gets manifested in Spira due to contact with Sin.
>if Jecht could control Sin
What remained of Yu Yevon's subconscious primarily controlled Sin. Jecht could only do so much.
>Is Yuna supposed to be Asian or White?
Spiran

>Spiran
She's half Al-Bhed, which I guess is why they made her look hapa.

It wasn’t time displaced, it was a dream.

That's my question. How did he break out of the dream? He just swim out of it or what?

Reminder that a flying crab was the final boss of FFX.

He went down by the ocean one day, probably while drunk, encountered Sin, and it caused him to be pulled into Spira.

>yo he's a dream
>but he can like do shit and still interact with the world like a normal person
And this is why FFX is the worst Squaresoft FF

No, it was a giant tick inside a burn victim. Duh.

He's functionally a Summoning like Ifrit or Shiva.

It's almost like magic is a thing in every FF.

And you could literally not lose the fight.

>couldn't simply not fight Tidus and co.
I thought that was because Jecht let Sin takeover by jumping off in the fight before Yu Yevon. I thought he had control the whole time because he never attacked Tidus.

So did Sin not destroy Zanarkand the way that it was destroyed in the dream?

I thought he jumped off in an attempt to weaken himself before being fully taken over.

People take the dream thing too literally. Dream Zanarkand is basically an elaborate summon, which is conjured by dreaming Fayth.

Zanarkand was destroyed during the war with Bevelle 1000 years ago.
Survivors of Zanarkand decided to do a mass summoning and preserve Zanarkand in a dream. Leader of Zanarkand summons Sin.

Aeons are also dreams user and they have no problems interacting with the world.

Remind that they somehow even wrote themselves an even steamier mess of shit with the dialogue from the PS3 remaster.

Auron has a daughter
Tidus and Yuna are no longer in love
Someone wished Sin back just because. Possibly Tidus.
Yuna has a beta as fuck follower that is in love with her and is traveling with her to defeat the new Sin.

Worst is probably the mention that Lulu has bigger breasts because of child birth but no picture of her.

>

Why are they no longer in love?

...

It was time displaced because it was a dream of past Zanarkand.

>Finally get to Jecht. Have long since discovered that Bahamut is powered entirely on Yunas strength and speed stats and buffed the shit out of those.
>turn order is: Yuna Yuna Yuna Yuna Yuna Yuna Yuna
>summon Bahamut and melee 3 times
>follow up with unlosable Yu Yevon fight.
Did square even try?

Jecht fell off Zanarkand, it's a literal place in the middle of the ocean. He doesn't exactly control Sin. Yuna is Caucasian(asian) like every other jrpg character.

Sin didn't even exist at the time that Tidus's Zanarkand was destroyed.

That's from a shitty novel that the fan base has disowned. That shit's nowhere in the remaster or any version of the game for that matter.

All the Aeons are buffed by yuna's stats.

What's the 1%?

Why is Jecht literally the only one that makes it to Spira though? With all those people in Zanarkand, you would think that he would've met up with at least a few people who also came to Spira from his Zanarkand. How are only Tidus and Jecht the ONLY ones that made it to Spira?

It's literally in the game. You can pick it from the menu where you want to play X or X-2.

Because FFX is kinda crap honestly.

The real questions of FFX

>Who killed Sin before Braska
>Why did that Sin seek out Jecht in Zanarkand to carry him into Spira

Because the Jecht shot bends the fabric of reality. How else would it neutralize 2 defenders?

It helps to know that dream zanarkand is an actual place out in the ocean. Jecht went out to sea to train and got shipwrecked in spira essentially.

Jecht was the only idiot who went swimming really far out for training and got lost/met Sin and got washed away. He's also not necessarily the only one to ever have done it, he's just the only one to stir up a shitstorm about it and actually end up being of enough importance to have someone listen. Plus most people would have drowned I guess.

Zanarkand wasn't in a fucking seperate dream dimension dude, it was a physical place that existed on Spyra, created by the dumb dream shit

>>Who killed Sin before Braska
Who cares? A grand summoner, just like every grand summoner before them
>>Why did that Sin seek out Jecht in Zanarkand to carry him into Spira
It didn't; Jecht went very far out from shore

Doesn't Jecht Shot 2 neutralize THREE defenders though?

>Tidus and Yuna are no longer in love
He literally has no reason to exist at that point. And if so, what the hell was the point of the true ending in X-2?
It's an audio clip. There is no novel.

Those are all from the audio drama in the remaster. (Although reading even a little into the Yuna/Tidus interactions would reveal that she's pushing him away, so the Final Summoning won't sacrifice him. Or in truth that he won't discover he's already dead from the novel by hanging around her.)

The novel has its very own funny stuff. Such as the Al'Bhed being hereditary androids or somesuch, who if you know passcode will obey your every command. This is extra funny, when you consider VII, since it gives the Sephiroth control over Cloud a new possible explanation.

>big war
>zanarkand loses
>survivors band together to summon a clone of the city in an obscure part of the world
>daddy zanarkand survivor summons sin because sore loser
>sin rekts world for X years while clone zanarkand parties it up
>sin guards zanarkand by patrolling around it underwater
>jeht goes swimming to train for blitzball
>bumps into sin accidentally, gets brought to Spira because Sin just sucks him up naturally
>pre-FFX happens
>jecht becomes sin
>is super ass pained that he and his buddies got duped by yu yevon
>goes to Zanarkand to succ up his son and rage smash stuff with Auron
>FFX happens

the end

Oh, there is a novel. Link that shit.

We pilgrimage all over Spira and not once encounter some other person who is in the same situation as Tidus.
>most people would have drowned
They got many Blitzball players in dream Zanarkand too. And you would think most of the citizens would know how to swim when they live in a city surrounded by water.

>They got many Blitzball players in dream Zanarkand too.
Jecht was the best. THE. BEST.

>Jecht went aimlessly swimming right into Sin for no reason

You're dumb.

You're welcome.

THE BEST THE BEST THE BEST THE BEST THE BEST THE BEST THE BEST THE BEST THE BEST THE BEST THE BEST THE BEST THE BEST THE BEST THE BEST THE BEST

Gandof was the first. It was his battle with Sin that caused the great rift in the Calm Lands. After that, I guess it was various summoners until Braska came along. They were probably mentioned at various points in the game.

We don't care who did it first, we care who did it prior to Braska, because that's what sets the story in motion.

I thought it was Yunalesca's husband did it first. Forgot his name. Isn't that why Yunalesca is the one that teaches you about the final summoning?

The previous Sin was Jecht's father

That does absolutely sounds like Jecht though.

So are Al-Bhed black people and Spiran white?

>because that's what sets the story in motion.
Does it? Hadn't it already been preestablished that Sin comes back? Would it matter that much who did it prior to Braska?
Gandof was the first High Summoner, I mean. So the first to do the whole pilgrimage thing.

Who the fuck is Trema and why couldn't he beat Sin?

I don't think it really matters. Given enough time and enough Sin cycles, someone was eventually going to interfere with Zanarkand. When it inevitably happened, it just so happened to be Jecht that was pulled out. If it happened at any other time, then the story would be the way it was. Plus, if we place significance on the summoner/Sin prior to Jecht, then why not put significance to the one before them as well, because whatever set the story in motion for the Sin before Jecht should be just as important? Or how about before even them? Unless we want to walk this chain all the way to Yunalesca, we need to set a cut-off of significance somewhere.

then the story wouldn't* be the way it was

Why didn't summoners just do the pilgrimage during the Calm so they'd be ready the moment it ended?

>'Trema'
>"Wasn't he a Bevelle monk or something"
>2 seconds on [search engine]
He was the founder of New Yevon.

Because no one wanted to sacrifice themselves.

Yuna was born ready

old enough to breath, old enough to breed. Amiright?

Because the Fayth ordained their departure to Spira. It's literally the reason Jecht and Tidus specifically were created in Dream Zanarkand, to free the Fayth from their obligation to Spira by killing their summoner, Yu Yevon, and let their souls depart to the Farplane in peace. Jecht failed, he became Sin instead of killing it for good. Tidus succeeded, and faded alongside the Fayth.

Tidus is the manifestation of all those people who got into a big orgy pile and turned into a spiritual spiral mountain of magic.

Who cares? It's shit.

>the concept of ghosts interacting with the real world when they disconnect from the spiritual world is lost to you

Critical thinking skills kid, try working on them a bit.

But what's so special about Jecht and Tidus? Why couldn't someone else do it? And why wait until so many summoners died to go get Jecht? Why did they not grab him right after the first summoner failed?

Old enough to be a pilgreem

Nigga-- THEY GOT SICK OF THE CYCLE AND CHOSE SOMEONE FUCK

Does it really matter who they chose? It was Tidus and Jecht so a fucking story could be written around them.

You or whoever said they were specifically created to defeat Sin. If they were specifically created, there has to be a reason.

Did you play the game. After a thousand years of dreaming, the Fayth were tired. They just wanted to pass on to the Farplane already, so they devised their plan and summoned composite characters Jecht and Tidus to Spira so they can rest. Shuyin in FFX-2 is likely the original Zanarkand citizen for the Fayth to base Tidus off of, so it seems likely there's an analog for Jecht as well and he personally didn't originally exist in the real Zanarkand as well.

Because each time Sin was defeated, there was a chance he wouldn't return.

The real question is why was sacrificing a Guardian a secret. Should've been well known

They made Tidus because they were trying to copy a guy who was a traitor to Bevelle. The main antag in X2

Dream Zanarkand is an Aeon. It physically exists somewhere near Baaj Temple, but nobody can discover it because Sin makes sure it can't be reached
Sin's whole purpose is to protect DZ, and stop humanity from progressing tech that's good enough to find it.
Jecht swam too far out from DZ and encountered Sin, and got tossed into the rest of the world.

So they enjoyed dreaming but only until after a thousand years they got tired of this shit? If that wasn't the case, why not bring in Tidus and Jecht way earlier to end it? What I'm saying is, why Jecht and Tidus? Why not someone else from dream Zanarkand? What's so special about these two?

They did. For every one grand summoner, there appear to have been hundreds, if not thousands of failed summoners that died on their pilgrimage. If they just had a stockpile of ready and willing summoners there'd be a lot less barren land between Calm Lands and Zanarkand..

So you have to play X-2 to understand it all? I thought that game only added unnecessary shit

I don't think so. Shuyin existed after FFX was even released.
>added unnecessary shit
I mean, you could argue that the whole game is unnecessary if continuing the story bothers you that much.

Because an actual person is sacrificed to become the next Aeon, yes it does matter who did it prior to Braska/Jecht. Seeing as how that person sought out Jecht from DZ.

It's very important, because of the small amount of Grand Summoners, we should at least know as much as possible about them, if not their guardians just the same.

Maybe it's a long line of Zanarkand Dreaming Faythes that have all left DZ to Spira to complete the pilgrimage and cycle in some chain of events that leads Jecht and Tidus to being the bringers of the Eternal Calm.

There's so much story to build on in the past that leads up to the closed future that was somehow expanded upon and ruined without any need.

So it was completely fucking random? If so, why is the Jecht the only guy that was able to do this? They got other great swimmers in DZ, don't they? How come I don't encounter one other person who made it to Spira from DZ? How come this isn't even a myth or someshit in Spira?

News flash, people get tired after an unspecified amount of time. It was 1000 years because it wasn't 9999 or 1001. Your complaint is retarded.

If you get tired after walking for 5 hours you'd probably slap any retard who asks you why didn't you get tired at 3 hours or 2 hours.

>Seeing as how that person sought out Jecht from DZ.
What?

It was well known. Tidus is the only one that doesn't know. They just don't talk about it because they don't like the fact that if they are successful Yuna and someone else have to die.

>Jecht being in Spira is an accident

don't reply to my posts ever again.

It wasn't coincidence, it was planned by the fayth.

No, everyone was surprised at that except Auron

The writing in X is just shit. The fact that Auron knew everything and just didn't tell you for the lulz is enough proof.
I also can't remember the explanation why Auron was in Zanarkand to begin with. I guess he was summoned into the summoned zanarkand, because that's the answer to everything in X.

Ah the game that made me question religion as an 11 year old. Good times...

You're s special kind of retard aren't you user. People get tired of thing eventually, it doesn't make any sense to ask them why they didn't stop said thing before. plus nothing in the game even tells you they didn't try something before. Tidus and Jecht were just two happened to get chosen. Probably just Jecht before because he seemed like the type of guy who would fuck shit up

He made a promise to an old friend.

Great explanation 10/10 writing masterpiece of all times

Crap. You're right. I just remembered that Yunalesca is the one that tells them and that is when they do off the rails.

>Maybe it's a long line of Zanarkand Dreaming Faythes that have all left DZ to Spira to complete the pilgrimage and cycle in some chain of events that leads Jecht and Tidus to being the bringers of the Eternal Calm.
Where is that stated, and if not, WHY are you suggesting that this is the case?

There's a difference between having the Fayth send him out there and come in contact with Sin, and SPECIFICALLY having a random guardian from Spira come to DZ with the intent of taking Jecht to Spira.

;)
