HE

Excellent colourful levels to explore, characters that have charm and are fun to play, top notch music that will get stuck in your head for days after words. It certainly isn't the best 3D collector, I don't think anyone has ever claimed it to be, but by you're bullshitting yourself and us if you say this game isn't good.

HAS

Even if a majority of the bosses were "Avoid its pattern until it exposes obvious weakness" they were all the best 3D bosses of its time.

>you're bullshitting yourself and us if you say this game isn't good.

>every world consists of you walking through barren empty levels, usually you climb up a vine or tree and swing across some floating vines and they you enter a bonus barrel and play a boring broken mini game that will frustrate you to no end
>having to explore worlds 5 times over because characters have specific items that only they can pick up
>barely any straight up platforming challenges. Golden Bananas are usually locked behind a slot machine bonus barrel or some poorly designed fly through the rings mission.
>bosses are recycled and repetitive
>bosses do the exact same attacks and all you have to do is dodge them and attack the boss 3-4 times to defeat him
>Mine Kart sections ruined by having to collect coins
>No Dixie Kong
>No Kiddie Kong

Having to excessively switch between kongs on the pads instead of being able to on the fly killed the game more than anything. Tedious most fucking Rare title ever created.

We don't have "to pretend to" because the game is actually bad

>levels are no more barren than those of banjo-kazooie and they all contain a good amount of normal challenges and platforming
>granted
>granted
>7 different bosses, all of which have different styles. They do get repeated but the ones in DKC did too
>like any boss?
>you could always play them without focusing on the coins
>tiny does the same thing as her
>donkey does the same thing as him

>Collectathons are inherently bad.

I'll never understand this meme.

>pretend

A STUNNING PERSONALITY

good thing all that stuff is optional

I miss Lanky and Chunky as characters and want to play as them again in another game, not just for the memes either.

HE is one HELL of a guy

Yooka-Failie retroactively made collectathons a bad game

this

It has a lot of dead time.
It has a lot of mini games.
It has a lot of mini games that aren't fun.
It has a lot of "come back to this room with 4 different characters" (back and forth from the fucking barrel).
None of the enemies are fun to fight (fucking hornets dropping grenades/spend a crystal to kill the club guy).

It was a beautiful, huge world to explore.
The rewards for doing it are mediocre.
Moving inside of this world is excruciatingly repetitive.

I finished this game three times, one of which recently.
Best feature: being able to play Jetpac and DK arcade from the menu.
Underrated multiplayer that none of my friends wanted to play.

Collecathons aren't inherently bad.
This is an example of how they can go wrong though

As much as those here would cry "e-celeb" trash, this fucker explains why DK64 is realistically shit.

Oh what's that, you want to 100% the game? Well I hope you like constantly having to go all the way back to the barrel to switch to another kong three or so times just to go through the same area multiple times. Oh you also reached a special banana, well fuck you, come back here as the kong it's supposed to go to. At least Star Fox Adventures wasnt that retarded in getting everything done. Even Diddy Kong Racing was pretty bullshit in getting everything done too.

>At least Star Fox Adventures wasnt that retarded in getting everything done
Except you literally can't backtrack once you get to the final Krazoa Palace sequence; better hope you know that beforehand and save right before you hop in the arwing.

I played the game through recently and I only found myself feeling drained when I purposely tried to clear out the entire level. If you just play it normally, only switching when you feel like it, you can get through the game with no real problems. It's only when you try to get everything or try to do as much as possible in a single run that things get annoying. I feel that's something people don't seem to pick up on and this guy ignores that too.

>>No Kiddie Kong
Wouldn't some consider this a good thing?

Do we still have to pretend it doesn't have a bunch of glaring flaws? Don't get me wrong, there are some enjoyable things but it's a fucking mess.

no, but a few shitty parts doesn't make it a bad game

It's mediocre if you just go only whats required to beat the game, ignoring any collectible that seems like it would be even mildly annoying (and you can skip a lot of them thanks to only needing half the gold bananas).
It becomes a fucking headache when you try to 100% it. You could say that for most games, but I think it's a problem when collecting all the things isn't fun in a game that's basically about collecting things.
