I'm thinking it'll be Neku on the Touchscreen and Shiki / Joshua / Beat with the Analog Sticks, so a mix between the DS and Mobile versions. But, it could very well just be the Mobile controls

I'd take the systems and general mechanics of this remake being recycled with just new graphical assets if it meant getting a sequel on Switch a couple years after this comes out.

Honestly doubt it, TWEWY is one of those well-known-beyond-its-sales games, like Okami and Nier. Its reputation as one of the jewels in the DS library has elevated it.

Just get a new composer and singer, then. You could set up the sequel in a different big city with a different genre of music to create it's own theme.

The battle plays out simultaneously on two screens. Your partner on the top screen uses the D-pad to input combos with 3+ possible outcomes per chain. The outcomes have various conditions based on who you're currently partnered with, but good combos fill up a team-up super that does a ton of damage.

Meanwhile on the bottom screen you control Neku, who equips various pins for battle that use touch controls. You can do things like slash, tap, drag, etc, and set different pins to a shoulder-button lock so you don't accidentally do two different actions at once.

Neku has to actually dodge attacks while your partner usually does interrupts or you interrupt on the bottom screen to help them. As you fight you pass a "puck" which determines who's doing most of the damage at the moment by way of a multiplier. Each time the person with the puck ends a combo, the puck passes to the next character, increasing the multiplier.

Short version, play the fucking thing, it sounds way more complicated than it is.
