Hyrule Warriors Definitive Edition

So, will this game be worth buying for the second time? I have the Wii U version with no DLC. What price would be appropriate to buy this at if I wanted to treat it as a glorified season pass?

It's going to be 59.99

I used to enjoy one of the Dynasty Warriors games on the PS2, is this basically that but Zelda? Like you just mash buttons?

I've never played this game, is it good?

You dont know that

imo paying full price again seems alright to me. Considering it has all the content from the 3DS game too which I think was also 60$ when including the season pass. Also 3D fairies.

as a person who never played a dynasty warriors game before this, it's pretty mindless but it's still pretty fun if you just like destroying hordes of enemies

having a lot of different characters helps with variety too, and the mission mode gives you lots of different kinds of challenges after you beat the story (although some are aboslute bullshit unless you have a second player to help out)

it also includes the extended story from the 3ds version which has wind waker content if you like that

3DS version was 40$

I appreciate the response, but I was more asking opinions on what price would justify buying this considering I would really only be getting the new content.

Pretty much, but with puzzles you gotta solve mid-combat (gotta use X item on Y location to make Z happen, gotta use X item to KO W enemy, you get the picture)
FE:W is the best musou for ordering people around and swapping between them. Feels fucking great, strategy and team comp and even backline comp is important (or you can just grind for sacred weapons and then let offscreen units carry you hard)

Ok

The character swapping is great. It's just too bad that for the first 10 hours or so, you're stuck with some chode filling up one of your slots.

That's good to hear. A lot of these Wii U ports have left me feeling kind of burned for buying the originals, So it's good to hear that this probably wouldn't be a waste to buy again.

>as a person who never played a dynasty warriors game before this
Jesus...

You at least went back and played the Gundam ones afterwards, I hope.

Last night while playing FE:W I thought "I wish they would port Hyrule Warriors to the Switch." And here we are today.

Hyrule Warriors is the only thing I ever go back to the Wii U for, so personally I'm happy to be able to finally put the thing away.

What does it have that regular plus DLC doesn't?

>played the Gundam ones
Musou is musou, doesn't matter which colour its paint is.

The New 3DS version of Fire Emblem Warriors is $40. The Switch version of the EXACT SAME GAME is $60. Hyrule Warriors DX is definitely going to be $60.

Fire Emblem warriors was a new game though.

...

Mario Kart 8 DX is also $60, and that's also an existing Wii U game with some DLC built in.

>A third version of this game

Why not just make a Hyrule Warriors 2?

>let me bring up a completely different game!

I'm just saying Nintendo has charged full price for lesser ports

This.

The Groose needs to get loose.

It has a bunch of new racers and Battle Mode. BM was never my thing, but at least it's not just a game+DLC bundle .

all the Legends content

or if you meant Legends as regular, non-pixelated graphics and more than 12 enemies on screen at a time

Rev up those rehashs

Because they're trying to still get people to buy FEW.

Groose is never happening, the project leads vetoed him when the staff wanted to do him.

>Groose is never happening, the project leads vetoed him when the staff wanted to do him.

Shit. For real?

>tfw Wii U owner and this Nintendo direct of GAMES GAMES GAMES is pretty disappointing
I just wanted something new

The additional story where after Cia dies, you save her immortal soul from the clutches of Phantom Ganon and resurrect her so she can still be in a sequel.

They mentioned it in an interview at one point, and that they'd try again in the future.

But if the leads shot it down before, I doubt anything will change. Especially when Groose is super unpopular in Japan.

well until one of the team becomes a project lead

It’s confirmed by the Japenese eShop

>LOVED HYRULE WARRIORS ON MY WII U
>DANN NEAR HAD ALL GOLD MEDALS ON ALL LEVELS AND PERFECT WEAPONS FOR EVERYONE
>REMMER HOW MUCH NINTENDO PISSED OFF US WII U OWNERS BY GIVING THE INFERIOR VERSION OF THE GAME ALL THE EXTRA CONTENT WHILE JUST ONLY GIVING US THE CHRACTERS
>REMEMBER ALL THE GRINIDING I HAD TO DO IN THE FUCKING GAME

Yeah as happy as i am about this coming to the switch i sure as hell wont be buying it again cause fuck all that grinding!

Games with lots of grinding can ever only really be enjoyed once because another playthrough is just to fucking tedious!

They were probably better as 2D images.

Never bought the previous editions, so I'll jump on this.

Not according to my dick

They could have spent more time on the model at least.
Especially since there's so many outfits to do.

>Didn't jailebreak his piss poo to pirate dlc

Oh sweetie

I can't say I'd miss them if they were gone.

I can tell you several things about this game in order to answer your question:

1. Yes. It's good. More than good, it's absolutely fantastic. But it's shallow.
2. "Shallow? user, what do you mean?" I mean it's a Dynasty Warriors game, in every way possible. You have the objective to kill enemies on the map as fast as possible in a real-time combat where 2 buttons are two kinds of attacks. That's it. Yet, this is UNEQUIVOCALLY the absolute best Dynasty Warrior-style video game ever made. The mechanics, the shallow plotline, the playable characters, the art, the music, the mission lists, the content is just absurdly high and the difficulty can be both brain-dead easy and also frantically, destructively difficult.
3. This is the only version of a Dynasty Warriors game you will ever need to purchase, coming with all the content and on a system that can run it better than anything previous.

I mean, it's a fair point.
If all the other switch ports of wii u games are full priced, that indicates a trend.

WiiU never got the Legends story missions and adventure maps, just the characters

Will you be able to transfer save data?

If they do another season pass, how further power creeped will the weapons be?

All my golds and grind would certainly appreciate that.

Because.
Damn.

Agreed, but with the way other titles have always looked better than their initial reveal (odyssey, kirby) on switch hopefully the fairy model follows suit

Dat Switch rehashen

I was thinking the same thing, except I have the 3DS version and really wanted it on a bigger screen with better frames. Even on the new 3dsXL it could be better.

I wish Nintendo had a program that knocked off a little on the price if you bought the game previously.

Since they didn't even announce a new character with this I don't think we'll be getting anything besides costumes. Especially when they showed off adding Funky Kong to Tropical Freeze in the same direct.

I think Nintendo wants KT to focus on FEW instead.

At the very least though, I'd expect Legend's DLC characters and weapons to finally get Level 4+ weapons.

I'm going to buy this game a second time like the musou whore I am but you are either delusional or ignorant if you aren't already expecting KT to wring as much money as humanly possible out of you.

So this will only have split screen multiplayer? No online? Going to be a bit disappointed if thats the case.

Im fucking pissed that we aren't getting mipha daruk and urbosa as costumes in this supposed ultima ed.

I never really understood the crafting system in this game. Am I retarded? How do you grind for different weps and/or better ones.

>want to play the new 3ds stuff
>don't want to grind out all the wiiu content again

I guess I'll pass. Maybe I should return my FE warriors while im at it and wait for the definitive version of that to come out.

i just want to purchase this again for linkle and all the girls, but the thing that will keep me from actually doing it is the ungodly amount of grinding, especially with all the new characters, and the fact that you are probably forced to use fucking tingle in some missions

I played the shit out of the first adventure mode. I waited way past when this game initially came out and the 3DS game was getting released when I played it, and I never did complete anything past the first adventure map. Was thrilled to play as Skull Kid with LASERS and Twil Midna nuking the field despite not actually finishing any of the other maps.
Super excited to play this on the go. It's a fun game with a shit ton of content and a variety of characters. Chain chomp ball and chain Link is one of my favorite weapons.

>different weapons
basically luck
>better ones
A rank certain missions in Adventure Mode

Was the rupee glitch still in the 3ds version?

I don't want to get everyone to max level again.

I'm in the same boat except I played through the entire 3DS version since I didn't own a WiiU. Always wished for a version that would run and look better, but... yeah. Not going through 100 hours of adventure mode again.

Same here, it would be an instant buy if I could carry over all my HW progress somehow, but starting from scratch, fuck that.

I can't see anyone buying this unless Nintendo implements some way to import your 3ds/wiiu saves so you don't have to grind everything again.

It seems most people played one version and don't want to have to repeat that content again to experience the other version.

>I can't see anyone buying this
I never bought it for wiiu or 3ds and I'm buying it

ah, word. Thanks.

>Groose is super unpopular in Japan
The Japanese are fucking plebs. Groose is the best thing about Skyward Sword.

>importing saves
Fat ass chance. I don't mind replaying up to a certain point, but I can see why people who really got far on their initial play throughs in the past could give a rats about this port. Certain A ranks on the wii u were a fucking nightmare, like one of Zelda's rank 3 weapons, but I'm diving headfirst into the autism again.
I tried playing FEW but it just wasn't the same. Was always thinking back to this game so I'm pleased. It's absolutely hilarious how worthless the wii u is now though.

no it was not, hell the thing worked based in luck and i rarely ever got it
even if it is there it would not solve anything for me

I dunno, Legends didn't exactly blow the doors off and the WiiU version was on the WiiU. I could see this doing well.

Would FEW be better for someone who liked HW's general combat but fucking hated the nonstop gimmick bosses? Content-wise I realize this new port offers a fuckton more but I would never even get close to 100%'ing the base unpatched Wii U version, let alone all the DLC/3DS shit.

Yeah I mean FEW has much better mechanics in terms of ordering your allies around and switching between them. Granted the latter was on HW 3DS, but I never played it, so that was a nice thing for me in fire emblem. There are clones in FEW, like Chrom/Lucina, Takumi/Sakura/Niles, etc but I didn't necessarily mind that, though I was bitching about the clones before playing it and still will, the roster could of been MUCH better. It's a solid game with a decent amount of maps post story but at first glance it seems like HW had more in terms of "adventure mode" content.
In all, FEW is a solid game with better mechanics than HW, but does suffer somewhat by its roster (clones) and honestly a lack of a diverse weapon set. While HW had Link's ball and chain, Lana's summoner gate, and Ganondorf's trident, FEW has SWORDS, a few axes, couple lances, and some bowmen. Also play in japanese if you do, the english VAs are bad and I'm not saying that as a meme they couldn't even bother to get the original voices that weren't all that to begin with.

>literally brings all the DLC and both system content into one
Literally confirms Smash 4 DX for Switch. Only reason we'd get Smash 5 now is Sakurai can't take having a port of his game ever happening like with Melee for Wii so he meddles with his Mario Party clone philosophies again and shits out another rushed Brawl 3.0 game.

Sounds good user thanks.

I think you all are missing the point. We're going to get fairy porn models soon just like the others.

It does not, but costs seemed to be lower overall, anyway.

Yeah same. I enjoyed the heck out of HW, my favorite game on the Wii U. That being said, I kind of don't feel like doing all the grinding again, and I had somewhere like 80% or so of the Adventure Map done and I had only like 2 or 3 of the 3 star weapons left to get. That is a ton to have to go through again when most is grinding to get ready for those hard Adventure Mode quests. I actually bought the 3DS port because I thought there was a link between it and the Wii U versions that could transfer saves back and forth, but found out the only link was to transfer the new characters to the Wii U version I think. I never played the 3DS version so it was basically a waste of money.

>buying musou trash in the first place

if they fix the frame issues and camera issues i would have no problem giving them money for this game

I put 150 hours into HW on Wii U and still did not unlock the seal on the Master Sword. The grind is insane and kills the game. I had fun with it and wanted to keep playing but when you are forced to use a character you hate and is only level 20 (Agitha) on the next square and get A rank I get annoyed and eventually quit.

Is FEW less grindy? Shame the roster is garbage.
Groose is one of the best characters in the series. Japanese have awful taste ( unless localization changed him significantly )

I didn't find it as grindy.
There's still lots of killing to unlock skills, but the number of kills to unlock is about the same and yet your average kill count per mission is nearly twice as high as it is in HW, so it goes by faster.
But then again, I love a grind and already cleared the game and all the DLC maps 100%

The plus that FEW has is that when DLC power creeps all the weapons, it also adds upgrades to everyone's personal weapons.
So you can just invest into a building weapon without fear that you'll have to start all over like in Legends with its level 4 and level 4+ weapons.

it'll be worth buying for the first time

because I knew this shit would be pulled, definitive edition rolling all of the DLC into one package

When the DLC started coming wave after wave, I knew there would be a complete edition.
Glad it's finally coming.

I don't think the grind kills the game at all. It's a fun grind that encourages you to use all of the characters, the only bad one really being Agatha in my experiences. I just don't feel like putting all that time back into it to reach the same point because Nintendo is either too lazy or can't figure out a way to transfer save data.

Wait there is a male Corrin in FEW?

Agatha, Fi, and Darunia were shitters for me.
Yeah you need to beat a certain history mode map to get him, Lyn, Celica, female Robin, and Anna. Lyn is the only worthwhile one however since she has a unique moveset.

Fi wasn't exactly good either not that I remember her, you're right there. Darunia was a freaking boss though. His roll move, though it didn't do much damage, was fun to just ram into enemies with and some of his hammer lava moves were fun because they knocked a group of enemies down.

On FEW, that explains it, I never did history mode. Unlike HW, I was kinda done after the main story.

Groose is a Chad. Of course they hate him.

Dood
This but on your dick but in
Will either be amazing or too funny to pass off at least seeing it once.

Fix the grinding and offer Wii U data transfer AT LEAST for the character XP and gear or no buy.

>I have a Wii u
Kek

Amazingly, Hyrule warriors is refreshing vs Dynasty warriors.

I "bought" the 3ds version and I felt like I wasted my money.

I never bought the WiiU version so I might pick it up
Or wait till Hyrule Warriors 2 eventually, we'll see how I feel when it's coming out.

Dynasty Warriors was never good. Hyrule is the first time a Warriors game hasn't been complete trash and it's only because of Zelda and Nintendo forcing themselves into development instead of relying on Team Ninja to not fuck things up.

Aside from maybe Fi, I agree.

Well, they succeeded.
