Why is this place so obsessed with this console
Why is this place so obsessed with this console
Because contrarianism.
I honestly thought this place would be more obsessed with the Dreamcast, but whatever.
because we grew up with that console, unlike you who grew up with atari, grandpa lol
...
only like five of us owned one and Sup Forums hates arcade games for some reason which was the whole appeal
I liked F-Zero GX and that's about it.
eternal darkness
sunshine
awesome capcom exclusives before they were all ported over to ps2 because the cube was failing
metroid prime
the best racing game
it was alright
>5cm controller cable
for what purpose
had the best games and graphics its simple. other consoles can only beg for its ports
Kirby air ride is the best gamecube game
>that cable length
how did they get away with this
But they're not? I don't see that much threads about it. It seems like they're more obsessed with whatever the current consoles are.
meleefags
>the best racing game
I agree
N*n*e*d*G*F
It had a lot of fun games on it, it was an enjoyable console. That's about all there is to say about the gamecube.
Made up for it by releasing the Wavebird.
Cause it went ahead of time with most of it's decent games being remakes and remasters.
MAH NIBBA
This is the nintendo console from when current 18-22 year olds were little kids.
I love the gamecube too but people suck its dick way too much
I've heard people say its controller is the best kind out there, which is just plain not true
The gamecube controller is so overated, yeah it fits nice in your hand but it just has so many flaws
>3 fucking shoulder buttons instead of 4
>no select button
>shittiest d pad in the world
>octagonal gates around the sticks
it's a long way from perfect
Probably more accurate than anyone wants to admit.
Despite being playing and being familiar with NES and N64 games when I was real young, it wasn’t until the GameCube where I was old enough to really play and complete games entirely on my own.
I feel like Rogue Leader doesn't get brought up enough in the GameCube best-of discussions, that game was amazing and a technical marvel. I'd it because it doesn't emulate well?
I loved the Wavebird, probably my favorite controller.
D R E A M C A S T was better
Honestly aside from the switch which I wont consider since its still running its life cycle the Gamecube is the second best console after the SNES.
didn't even have a ton of naomi ports
fuck sega
sega rally 2 was a shit port.
In my opinion the gc controller is heavily overrated. the dpad sucked, it lacked another shoulder button and personally I think the shape of the face button is kinda unncesesary
The only people that bought the gamecube were the people that knew that they would be gamers for life. The PS2 was the best selling console of its generation, but that also means its fanbase is mostly people that moved on with their lives.
It's overrated by today's standards but it was the shit in it's gen compared to Dual Shock 2, the Duke, and the Dreamcast controllers especially.
You got me there, I still cant believe the dualshock lasted so long, maybe if Nintendo released an updated version of the gc controller...
dude ur a faget, go on any naomi wiki and look at the games, a massive chunk of them were on dreamcast
just about every major title on a naomi board had a dc port, outside of the weird weeb stuff
Normal button layout:
ABXY
Retarded rollercoaster:
BAYX
Please be patient i have autism tier:
square circle triangle cross
The Dreamcast had the best controller that gen.
Was literally the only controller to hurt my hands after long play time and only one analog stick means I disagree.
It gave birth to the greatest competitive fighting game ever.
>square circle triangle cross
I still find retarded why they choose those symbols
It has this game
>tight, responsive analog
>smooth, sturdy rolling d-pad
>perfect triggers
gtfo nigger, sega objectively makes the best controllers
calloused thumbs are a reward
Arcade games are my fucking life bro. Literally the best genre because of easy pickup and play action with actually good game design. I enjoy plenty of genres like RPGs etc. but it's rare that they can get me to care enough to finish them completely unless they have a truly compelling story or innovative/superb mechanics.
I just think it has one of the best game selections of any console. Arguably best Smash, best Mario Kart, one of the best Zelda's, also ports of original Zelda, OOT, and MM, Pokemon Colosseum and xD, Custom Robo, etc. Probably part nostalgia talking here, but possibly the overall most fun set of games on any console.
>sega objectively makes the best controllers
This. Sega made some bomb ass controllers
Pic related
They said it somwhere it's something like that: x is for yes, circle is for no, square is for menu and triangle is ifuckinggiveup it still doesn't make any sense anyway.
>best Mario Kart
Double Dash is trash and the gimmick is awful
It’s Fantastic.
It was the last Nintendo console to put in an effort into graphical fidelity for its time and to not rely on gimmicks.
>best mario kart
It was their first console.
Most comfy Mario Kart and I thought the dual drivers thing was fun. Didn't add too much, but felt more personality on drives. I really liked the courses too.
Its just so unnecesary, with the xbox controller and any nintendo controller you know A is ok and B is no, with ps controller it seems like anything goes
Compared to the Madkatz™ controllers we got as replacements as kids, they were fucking perfect. I don't think of all the ones I owned one ever actually worked right for a decent period of time.
Disrespectively disagree. Lack of committed third party devs and low profits for exclusives forced companies like Capcom to start multiplatting exclusive shit like RE4.
Yeah, games like Tales of Symphonia barely sold
I blame the lack of third party support on the mini dvds
Dual drivers made character and kart selection interesting with the character specific weapons and the cart weight class system. I also enjoy being able to switch an item to the driver to save for later.
No L3 and R3 either.
All these flaws and it came out years after the Dualshock.
>The dualshock is bad
Worst meme on Sup Forums. It literally set the standard for controllers that even Nintendo eventually caught up on about 15 years later.
Did it st the standars?
Yes but does that makes it necesarily good? No, I find that its shape its not very ergonomic, and the stick are not very precise.
All this faults were adressed in the dualshock 4 but IMO it should been adressed at least back in the ps3.
Ps: The n64 set the standar for analog sticks, does that makes it good automatically?
first console gen to have enough cpu to do more or less anything imaginable
there had been lots of risk taking bc of that
later consoles settled into a regen health corridor formula nd became too easy
Dualshock IS bad. They just slapped as many analog sticks on their vanilla snes ripoff gamepad as they could. Two sticks became standard not because of sony, at that time it just seemed like a fifth wheel to players and devs.
360 controller is best. ds is fucking terrible. gc is fine for most games
This was made for a console with 3d games in mind
what a great console generation overall
Oh yeah that console I saved up for a year for when I was 11. Two months later, my dad gave me a PS2. *tears of KEK*
V could kill me, but I think the dreamcast is overrated
Holy shit, this so much. The GC controller was fucking garbage, but at least it was a step above the abomination that was the N64 controller. I'm sorry but Nintendo just never made good controllers in the 3d era, except for the Pro.
The placement is the same, so don't act like it's a tough transition buddy. You're not some fag that looks at the buttons are you?
Sans the stick's quality, there's nothing bad about the n64 controller.
Is it worth buying a Gamecube for the Game Boy Player?
Fuck off the fact that it has a single joystick alone makes it shit for 3d games. Ever play Goldeneye, or did you forget what it was like controlling the camera with fucking buttons. There's a reason why you never see single analog controllers anymore.
Yes I played Goldeneye (or most N64 FPS) and it isn't as terrible as you say, use c-sticks to move and stick to aim.
And of you mean the camera in 3d platformers, that's not because of the c-buttons, that's because most game's camera moved by angles instead of a "free-roaming" mode.
I can't speak for all of Sup Forums, but these are the reasons I like this console:
>Virtually indestructible. Small, portable design.
>Fantastic controller that is still being manufactured today for a reason.
>First good wireless controller
>$99 price point. Nobody's beaten this.
>Great library of classic titles.
>Really attractive and simple design, aesthetics wise. Nice matte finish and some of the greatest colors ever available for a console and its controllers.
PS2 was ultimately the better console but I feel like the Gamecube has stood the test of time better, due to having more stylized games on it as well as the straight up durability and universally appealing/portable design of the console.
this belongs in /vr/ whether we like it or not.
NIGGA, please.
Wait till you're 29 and you're still here.
What vidya are the kids of today growing up with anyway?
crossy road
yokai watch
mobile shit and youtube
Most people buying consoles today are on their 20s.
You'll find a game boy for a fraction of the cost
>kids these days grow up with digital distribution
>are already conditioned to give their money to a company and get nothing in return, that mindset leaks over to other aspects of life
Sad
Nostalgia. I'll probably love my memories of playing Luigi's Mansion, and Pokemon Colosseum and XD on this thing until I get Alzheimers
Undertale
Minecraft
FNAF
Overwatch
LoL
Youtubers
I didn't know GC was released before 2000.
Not that guy, buy I'm turning 29 in about a month and I feel like I've done nothing for the 12 years I've been browsing Sup Forums. Sad night.
Xbox > Gamecube > PS2
You know Goldeneye has like 6 million ways to modify the controls right? 1.2 is a good one if you hate default.
the wavebird exists
cable extenders exist
I dunno N64 was way better its probably because most people on here are underage and unwilling to play anything older than 6th gen consoles.
>no backlight
fuck no.
>Interesting, charming design
>Good specs
>Melee
>GBA Player
>4 controller ports
Can someone tell me why people love the GC's library so much? The only GC game I really like is Metroid Prime. I see people constantly wanking off SMS, but I really didn't care for it at all. Help me understand why you people like this thing so much.
>Good specs
So what happened to the Burnout 3 port? :^)
Just get an SP bro.
okay let me check
>101s are a gorillion dollars
People who grew with the gamecube were like 8 or so when it launched, and they had better understanding of things so they could actually play and beat games.
>tfw turn 29 in february
Just emulate them then my dude.
>1996 was 12 years ago
up
Best console ever made, won the gen.
