Was this the biggest "Fuck you" in vidya of 2017?
Was this the biggest "Fuck you" in vidya of 2017?
No, because it was really obvious the entire time. As if a AAA shooter videogame is gonna let you be aware you're playing as the bad guys.
The only game I can think of that had you play as the bad guys for the entire campaign is the Killzone series.
You play as the bad guys for 85% of the campaign in EA Front 2, user.
>You play as the bad guys for 85% of the campaign
more like 50%
outside of the first two missions you're playing the rebellion, so literally the villains
Well, Killzone never made you switch at least, and wasn't obvious about you playing as the bad guys, the game never openly questions your propaganda - at least not from any 'good guy' support character perspectives. Shit, you even visit a planet your side totally nuked JUST so the enemy couldn't live there, but nobody says "Holy shit we did something pretty bad here."
Older games like Haze or Red Faction 2 have you switch too, so it's not exactly an unknown cliché. We've been doing this one for years.
The problem was they billed it as "the first Battlefront game with a totally Imperial campaign", and I recall in a QA that they said you'd be Imperial all the way through. Of course this was a lie at the start, Oldfront 2 already had an Imperial campaign, but it was one of the only reasons anyone looked forward to it, and on Sup Forums especially it was the only reason many people said they would buy/pirate it.
Of course that turns on its head when the main girl goes from blowing up rebel ships to mowing down hundreds of her former allies in the span of 30 seconds and talking about all this wrong side shit.
Some people like the Empire, some people think they are the good guys, some people just want to play as them for a change, and some people didn't want to be lied to, and EAfront spat in the face of each demographic.
No, this was
I find it odd that people still think EA can learn after all these years. There was an article recently about how 'Anthem' might be able to steal Destiny 2's disillusioned audience. Yet for all the money grubbing, poor communication, and general disconnect between Bungie and their fans - EA will always do it worse than anybody else. Always.
seconding this
>compared their MC to finn and said her mask removal wont be a change of sides like finn's was
>they did nothing different
Ahh come on! After several gigs of patches the game almost works!
"Fuck it let's make a game that captures the last 10 minutes of the 3rd game throughout the whole game!"
Still ironically better than The Last Jedi
>game bombed so hard that the studio was closed
>dresses like a janitor for over half the game
>horrible voice acting and virtually no facial emotion
>horrible lines and constant quips
>is a traitor
>every character (even the badguys) go out of the way to call her heroic even after she goes traitor
god why did they make such a horrible protagonist
I knew they wouldn't be able to have the gall, specially make a women of color the ebil person.
Christ starwars battlefront 2 did it and did it well.
what, women?
The worst is her dad
>daughter goes traitor
>kills assloads of fellow imperials including many of his own men
>talks about how he wishes he was as "heroic as her"
Can't make this shit up
Possibly, but it had STIFF competition
Hmm, anything similar to God of War a.k.a button mashing qte garbage. Guess games such as God of War is (still) appealing for edgy 15 year old crowd. We've all been there....
Though I must say, luckily there weren't many hack and slash games with such bullshits in 2017.
So any specific 2017 examples you sperg?
