Am I the only one that's kinda worried about WoWs upcoming expansion Battle for Azeroth? Compared to Legion, it appears that blizzard is removing a lot of features that made the expansion so interesting. >No tier set bonuses, meaning your class will play the same throughout the expansion >No major class changes between Legion and Battle for Azeroth. Your class right now will play very similarily in the next expansion. >Rumored fewer balance changes over the expansion. Legion saw many balance patches that made and broke different specs and constantly changed up the """"meta"""" >No legendaries and even though the RNG legendary system was shitty, the huge bonus effects on pieces of gear was really interesting and changed how many specs worked.
Now the major features in BfA are the sub races (lol), Heart of Azeroth and new continents. With Heart of Azeroth being literally artifact weapons 2.0 with the same boring effects (additional % damage reduction on defensive cooldown or more movement speed on movement ability) the features of Battle for Azeroth just seem incredibly lackluster. I know there are probably some information that blizzard is holding on to, but I don't really expect them to announce new features this late after the initial "hype" announcement.
Austin Peterson
it's literally an interlude expansion, what do you expect?
Bentley Howard
>Tier sets are out dated and have a huge power creep >Classes got overhauled during Legion and they will get the same treatment during BfA if needed >The new necklace replaces legendaries in part
Leo Bell
Did they remove stats from gear already? This game is too complex for me. Also I once started attacking a mob, then decided to check twitter and facebook, and when I returned my toon was dead. Fucking why, Blizzard?
Michael Roberts
is it a good time to resub
Mason Wood
You need to send your Order Hall workers to kill mobs now. Quit playing the old versions scrub.
Evan Cruz
I just did, the new raid is really fun and the argus stuff is cool
Julian Morris
>The new necklace replaces legendaries in part I know the new necklace will "power" up your chest, helm and shoulder pieces with additional bonus effects. But the information we have so far is that those effects are really miniscule. On the blizzcon panel demo, they showcased a shaman piece and the two example traits were: >Choice between a trait that increases the % of damage reduction, while Astral ShiftAstral Shift is active and a trait that increases Movement Speed while in Ghost Wolf Its much more similar to the artifact weapon system which had these small upgrades, instead of class changing legendaries which brought huge utility and rotational changes.
Jose Stewart
can't stand the game turning into a button mashing shitfest so they can shove their bottle of azeroth up their urethra
Brody Peterson
current wow is always a good time to resub with the one million different catch up mechanics its on the last raid tier though so there arent really much left to do
Jordan Foster
>Pile of Obsolete Content: The Video Game >subscribe nah
Jace Cooper
by the time I'll catch up with the last raid the new expansion will probably come out
Christopher Mitchell
doubt it, the new expansions is still miles away with beta not even being up yet. also while argus is arguably much more fun than previous tiers (looking at you mistress sass'zine) it is much easier and I expect a lot of guilds will clear it long before the next expansions. we're entering a drought, so bring a water bottle and dont expect to stay long
Joshua Rodriguez
>tier sets I'm not necessarily too upset about this, provided they capitalise on the opportunity to make cool sets that aren't constrained by class affiliation then I'm willing to give it a chance. It makes sense as a change, seeing as raids aren't the only source of good gear any more. I'm equivalent to heroic raid geared, but I get it all from mythic+.
There's nothing stopping them from adding twists to gameplay, akin to tier sets, though the heart of azeroth or something like that
Asher Watson
I resubbed for PvP and we get a PvP based expansion? Yeah I’m excited.
Jeremiah Hernandez
>pvp based expansion >proceed to absolutely destroy what was left of world pvp
Adam Flores
PvP can't be anything but shit since they won't fix the classes, the core gameplay is garbage.
Connor Peterson
By PvP you mean going on dragon slaying adventures with your guild and killing the other factions nameless NPCs in an instanced setting? This will be just like mists of pandaria, where the """faction"""" conflict will be resolved in PvE raids
Benjamin Howard
>No legendaries is marked as a bad thing You don't know what you are talking about at all, do you?
Carson Ramirez
The way of obtaining legendaries through RNG together with their importance was retarded. Absolutely. However, the effects and customization they provided was excellent. Balancing the different tier sets with legendaries and switching them out for different fights for min/maxing was genuinely enjoyable. I'd much rather have a chest piece that gives me X effect for doing Y than a chest piece that gives me an additonal +30 to stat X and Y. Legendaries became much, much better towards the end of Legion once people had access to all of them throughout their specs
Cameron Parker
The reason tier sets are being removed is because the game now has too many passive trait systems that conflict with each other directly. You have artifact traits, you have legendaries, you have tier sets and then mythic+ enters the equation.
Two slots of your gear are basically locked to legendaries with the best possible traits. It means any gear you get in those two slots is automatically worthless. Then four to six more slots are taken up by tier sets. This means that even with item level upgrades unless they're massive you're gonna have over half of your gear slots completely locked up. So then you go to mythic+ to get some better gear but all that happens is that you get rolled items you can't even use regardless of their stats. It's incredibly frustrating when you open your weekly chest and get a complete dud.
That's why they're taking all the passive traits and consolidating them into the azerite necklace + 3 other slots. Those slots will grant you traits regardless whether they came from a raid or a dungeon, but those traits are manually assigned per gear set so they act like gearsets and azerite necklace acts as the numerical modifier of their power removing the artifact problem of spec lockdown.
In a way this has the danger of devaluing raiding over mythic+ but they'll probably try to solve this by putting more interesting bonuses on raid gear and putting good trinkets into raids too, with additional incentive systems like the new path of the titans drop system.
tl;dr they're not removing anything, they're consolidating conflicting features into one.
Jack Morris
>No tier set bonuses, meaning your class will play the same throughout the expansion Cancer removed. Thank god. >No major class changes between Legion and Battle for Azeroth. Your class right now will play very similarily in the next expansion. Relearning your class, or in my case, picking a new class after they ruin the one I like, has always been fucking retarded. >Rumored fewer balance changes over the expansion. Legion saw many balance patches that made and broke different specs and constantly changed up the """"meta"""" So they're finally doing away with the insane pendulum swinging balance changes? This is a problem how? >No legendaries and even though the RNG legendary system was shitty, the huge bonus effects on pieces of gear was really interesting and changed how many specs worked. More like it was entirely possible to never be competitive in your class if the one legendary that made or broke your viability never dropped for you. Same problem as set bonuses, too.
Oliver Morgan
wish they would do the same for d3. every fucking build revolves around some 8 piece set that you have to wear. might as well not have any other gear in the game.
