Will we ever get a good Star Wars game again?
Will we ever get a good Star Wars game again?
My aunt and little sister dragged me to see that new Star Wars movie the other day, it was actually pretty good. Felt long as fuck though but it was barely 2 hours in reality.
Almost makes me consider getting into the franchise.
>movies by disney
>games by ea
>comics by marvel
lucas got the last laugh
Not whilst EA owns the licence
Nope, Tie Defender was a long time ago. Since then, some of what it was based on was even declared non-Canon by Disney. Fuckin' sucks.
Who cares. Old SW vidya are still good.
No, it's a western franchise and western videogames are literally overrun by DLC/pay-to-win and SJW politics. Star wars games will never be good again.
The first SW comics were made on Marvel.
This user speaks the truth.
There will never be another good Star Wars product ever again.

I think all of these games are in my top 100 and Star Wars covered all the fucking genres in video games already
I'm playing Jedi Outcast again, and it still looks alright, and mods help things, but good luck on getting any one-offs in this vein again, because the EU wipe seems to be Disney's attempt at curbing canon-clashing
The most story-centric Star Wars game that's been released since The Force Unleashed 2 is currently Battlefront 2, and that's a short afterthought SP campaign in what was once a 100% MP game, in a world where it came after Titanfall 2's short but very NOT afterthought campaign
No one wants an Imperial campaign where you defect after a post-Tie Fighter world has shown us what you can do with the viewpoint, the very least they could've done was both a Rebel AND Imperial campaign
i remember playing this back then and killing my friends ''accidentally'' until they got mad at me
Should I bother trying to fix the controls for the steam port of shadows of the empire or should I just play it on the n64?
Nothing can top the Dark Force saga
It's best they leave it alone
It's pretty much the only sacred Star Wars game
Just play it on N64
Yeah, right after we get a good Star Wars movie again.
>we didnt know how good we had it until he left us
Now he's never coming back
Lucas just needed an editor. His ideas were solid, but he needed someone to help him execute them.
He's like Dan Aykroyd in that respect.
Anyone else still play Jedi Academy?
I'm surprised the game is still alive, I miss Lugormod, Siege, Makermod and ForceMod 3 but apparently JA+ and Movie Battles 2 are still really active.
Back in the days of Dark Forces 2 multiplayers we were like cavemen with sticks, but JA+ really holds up to this day.
we'll never have a good star wars related media again.
This. Enjoy what exists now and give up on the future of the franchise. It's dead.
Back in the days you could play Episode 1 Racer with your friends on a W98 LAN network without splitting the screen.
It was extremely convenient since consumer television were merely 20 inches at most back then.
Take that, N64!
Lucasarts literally made some of the best games ever and now they are stuck churning out shitty Star Wars money grabs for the foreseeable future they will never make an original video game again honestly go look at their list of games and you will see that they contributed so much RIP
I'd kill for an updated Jedi Outcast or Jedi Academy.
>tfw you're certain it'll be a lootbox riddled shitfest though
It's called Movie Battles, Too
I think their reputation was damaged when they started dealing with UbiSoft and Microsoft Studios. Disney giving the rights to EA was the last straw, LucasArt was a shadow of its former self anyway.
The Marvel comics are digestable at least.
Characters are close to their movie counterparts, little to no SJW shit, but its a bit more comicy with its bullshits.
Marvel had its ''phase'', it started about a year ago, now they're coming to the realization that queer superheroes don't sell.
>Anyone else still play Jedi Academy?
Yes, I have an MBII server.
I still play it at 640x480, its oddly easier on the eyes than battlefront
Yes, in 8 years when EA lose the license and 3 years have passed.
>ywn play Star Wars 1313
It hurts.
never ever
>Welcome to the rebellion. This is your admiral for tonight.
What do you do?
The only hope is the respawn SW game, let's hope that EA let them do their job
>What do you do?
Move to the Outer Rim and become a bounty hunter.
Invest heavily in Whole Foods
>Welcome to the Milennium Falcon. This is your rebellion for tonight.
TWELVE PARSECS?????
Trust her judgement.
Not gonna spoil anything but what a stupid, stupid character. The way the movie tries to portray her as someone who had an amazing plan all along and should be respected for that was ridiculous.
What happened to Ackbar?
got spaced.
>lugormod
you got me
Star Wars is not a franchise about plot points, logic, or actions; it’s a franchise about ideas and feelings. And the point of this sequence is the idea of oppression and inequality, and the feeling of righteous indignation about it, and giving Rose the opportunity to vocalize those points and establish herself as the voice for that in this new trilogy. Because, again, it’s been a missed opportunity for a long time that Star Wars has been preoccupied with the experiences of royals, elites, religious orders, and other upscale characters at the expense of everybody else. It’s a really cool step to have this character, who’s essentially a one woman get-over-your-bullshit machine, come to this glamorous place and point out that the villainy isn’t just the space Nazis, it’s the upper class that lets the Nazis get away with stuff because they stand to benefit. You see, it’s the non-mystical, on the ground component that allows the film to get away from the narrowly classist vision of the Force going on in the Rey-Luke stuff
>he doesn't know
Nu Star wars is a million light years ahead of Lucas's prequel garbage and """"""digitally"""""" """""enhanced"""""" OG though.
The entire plot for every non Force user in that film is literally build around the fact, that that dumb bitch has zero leadership capabilitys.
How do you even become a military leader without even a little bit charisma?
Oh hey, perfect timing.
>Quest in KOTOR about solving a murder case on Manaan
>The Selkath of Manaan wish to remain neutral in the war, so there are both Republic and Sith stationed in the city
>Manaan is the only source of kolto; an incredible healing agent that both sides require, this is how the Selkath remain neutral
>Old Republic war hero is accused of murdering a Sith woman
>It turns out the woman was a Dark Jedi
>It ALSO turns out that the guy was having an affair with his wife with her
>The Sith bribed a Rodian to plant his medal on her corpse after she had stolen it from him, and the innkeeper said he saw the old man running after the sound of a blaster went off
>If you go to the Republic Embassy and look at a computer terminal and hack it, it turns out he commit the murder as she slept
>If you charge the old man, the Republic will lose out on a great deal of their rights to the kolto, which obviously has an effect on the entire war effort
>But if you defend him, you'd be ignoring the fact that he murdered his lover in cold-blood and letting him go
>Meanwhile I'm playing a very grey Jedi and have absolutely no idea what to do
This is my first time through, and I gotta say, some of these quests are pretty good. I'm genuinely at a loss. This caught me completely off-guard.
>Meanwhile I'm playing a very grey Jedi
Apathy is death.
He was a good friend
Star Wars was a fairy tale set in space, nothing more nothing less, and I preferred it that way.
Only good Star Wars game
I'd say the only good sw movies since the OT were Revenge of The Sith and The Last Jedi so far.
But a vocal minority of its fanbase refuses to move on, trudging along in a feeble attempt to manufacture their perfect individual version of Star Wars for the satisfaction of their wet dreams. The Force Awakens may have been dangerous because it reinforced reminders of the old, but the backlash was strong, even though it utilized structural similarities and plot developments for the sake of mystery-box subversion. Many viewers hated Abrams’ film because it exposed their reverence and mythologization of the original trilogy to an absurd degree and refracted it back in the characters’ personalities. Cries and whimpers of “It’s the same thing as the original Star Wars!!” might as well be re-worded into “I didn’t like it because it gave me exactly what I’ve been worshipping for the last thirty years!!”. While The Force Awakens, in a sense, weakened those who have never moved on from the original trilogy, The Last Jedi leaves them in the blood-red dust. It soars off into the galaxy with a fresh twinkle in its eye and a comical, sly reverence for Star Wars itself and not the version so many people have fabricated in their fantasies. The characters have been freed from their ties to Original Trilogy characters, and while they will always carry them within their hearts. Johnson showcases that no progression can be unearthed without change, and change is the opposite of stagnantly committing to ancient fandom favorites just because that’s how they’re remembered. The truth hurts for the personalities in The Last Jedi and the audience observing it play out across the screen; they have realized their stories are just that. It’s what you take away from them, and where you go from there that matters. This gargantuan space-opera train is finally back to square one freed from the constraints of its sickening fanbase and bursting into hyperspace towards the future. Time to let go
I guess I can agree to that. Revenge of The Sith felt to long to me and the CGI was wack, but its not Clone Wars unwatchable.
Someone post the braaaaap pages
Says you, although after freeing the Wookiees from slavery on Kashyyyk, my character has become a lot bluer.
Doesn't mean I don't take HK with my everywhere though. I love this dude.
There's a lot of cool star wars games. But it kinda sucks how many of those games are at least 10 years old by now. Would it really be that hard to make a game in the vein of any of those genres these days without just trying to milk it for infinite money and instead going for a competent game?
>Flying Leia
>Hyperspace ramming
>Good
>again
Yes, good.
2000 republic credits have been deposited into your account
>in the vein of any of those genres these days without just trying to milk it for infinite money
If they keep partnering with EA yes that is very hard.
Thank you.
He didn't say star trek
FULL RAMMING SPEED was cool, probably lore-breaking though
>Canto Bight
Good music but holy shit was that whole bit unnecessary
EA signed a 10 year exclusive contract in 2013. Long way to go.
At least we have an unstoppable FEMALE lead, which means there is no tension of any kind .
You're mistaken brother, Star Wars games are great!
That whole fight between captain phasma and finn was some of the worst cinema ive ever seen
hence the laughter
holy shit that looks like it is from fifth element or valerian!!!!! fuck disney they can't do aliens
we will never get any sexy aliens like twleks, togruta, Nautolan !!!!! FUCK DISNEY
>holy shit that looks like it is from fifth element or valerian
>lists off two movies with interesting designs for aliens as if its a bad thing.
how did Star wars fall so low...
Who, Rei? She did close to nothing in the last movie. Lost hard for Snoke and then had help to win the next fight. But since the next movie we have Mr. Jay Jay, i don't have much hope he can do it right. She was fine in TLJ.
>Watched The Last Jedi
>Get in the mood for playing a cool new star wars game
>Pretty much all we have is the MMO that and Star Wars Battlefront 2, both games plagued by greedy decisions to print money which harmed them more than did them any good in being an actual decent game.
It's like, you don't even have to do much. It's Star Wars, it's such a loved franchise that always makes it's money back by spades. All they had to do was make a competent game. Something that's kinda like battlefield but in a star wars setting. That infinite greed though. It's not enough to just make a decent game and enjoy the money coming in, they have to make all the money in the world by milking everyone and trying to keep them around forever too.
Closer to Kojimbo. He has really good ideas but someone needs to be there to rein him in.
I honestly haven't bothered watching the new movies, but does Phasma actually do anything in them? She has a great design.
Yes how did Star Wars fall so low......... oh wait..............
She taught Luke more than he taught her, beat those elite royal guards and lifted tons of tons of boulders saving the Resistance. She also was just as strong and adept as kylo in the force, as they split the lightsaber.
Falls in a pit in the first movie after getting captures. Falls in a fire pit in the second movie after losing to a janitor.
naw Phasma is one of the things I actually dislike about the new movies, shes a nothing character.
I usually play MB2 quite a bit. Good stuff
the mission in Dantooine about the family rivalry was really good as well, i had hk-47 and we killed everyone
She has about 3 minutes of total screentime, zero character development, and two embarrassing beatdowns between two movies.
She's just a regular storm trooper except her armor actually works and she gets a cape.
Ask her what the plan is.
Better question: will we ever get anything good related to Star Wars again?
Movies are shit.
Cartoons are shit.
Games are shit.
Everything about it is shit now, nothing but trash.
she doesn't do crap ini either movie. both movies should be erased from existence
You overestimate her role in the movie. The real hero there was Luke. In fact, most scenes show her being weak, as easily tempted by the dark side.
And from what i got, the whole lore they are building is that Rei is just the Force creating a balance to Ben. The split lightsaber make it clear. One is the opposite of the other.
Captain Phasma is a joke. The movie tries to portray her as this badass elite commander that's intimidating, yet all she does is get her ass kicked in the very few moments she's onscreen.
>She taught Luke more than he taught her
Just incorrect, Yoda's ghost taught him
>Beat those Royal guards
Fought off 2 of them as kylo killed the rest and then had to go kill one of the ones that was fighting her
>She was also just as strong and adept in the force as kylo
Like its a new thing in Star wars to have random people be strong in the force, also shes no where near as adept as him
>All of the good Star Wars games are considered non-canon in the eyes of the mouse
>Instead of a proper KOTOR 3, we get a shitty failed MMO that's considered a complete laughing stock
>The mission on Dantooine about the woman that's been treating her droid like her dead husband
>The droid becomes suicidal and leaves to go get killed by kath hounds
>You can either kill him yourself and end his misery, or send him back to his owner, where she talks about "oiling him up"
>Will we ever get a good Star Wars game again?
NO IT IS OVER. SJW have bled Starwars dry. I'am happy there is no KOTOR3 because it would go the same way as mass effect 3. Also TOR is their main source of majority income. Look what happened when the introduced micro transactions in the new BF. People caused a shit storm. Disney want a continuous stream. Not hit and misses from games anymore. Why do you think they have Darth EA over seeing operations on the gaming side.
We got the porgs :^)
I'm angered by the fact that we could have completely avoided the terrible Finn/Rose finding the codebreaker subplot if she just told someone else about her plan.
I hated how they handled Luke desu, waited all this time and hes stuck on the island all movie and doesn't pass on anything knowledgable to Rey . Yoda says she already knows everything she needs to know. Luke deserved some dialogue or scenes that did him justice. The whole film felt pointless for me.
>initially hate the 3D CW, thought it looked dumb
>actually watch it post-TFA
>realize that there's actual character arcs and development, tonally competent scenes, great action scenes, and overarching themes
>then Rebels comes along with a drastically lower budget and horribly weaker show
If you ever want to see a difference between didney wars and lucas wars, look no further than TCW to Rebels.
>new Star Wars movie the other day, it was actually pretty good.
