I realize that, I also realize that most people didn't own a Wii U either. It has me worried though because it seems like there should be more games. Where are all the games? Isn't Switch supposed to be Nintendo's combined handheld and home console efforts all in one? Maybe there's a shitload in the pipe that we won't see for 1-2 years but I'm worried none the less that they're really going to continue the 3DS line and that Switch will be considered their home console as they keep saying. And if it's a literal rehash of the Wii U with a handful of unique games, that would be a serious bummer

I'd argue that in terms of budget, they aren't. Nintendo is very low budget and it shows in their games. In all fairness it's a better business model. Taking huge risks with blockbuster-tier budgets and hoping for a payoff isn't a sustainable practice, but it sure works out nicely when it does work. Like Doom is a great example of a solid game that also has stellar visuals. If they made it with 7th gen visuals (which is basically Nintendo's MO), then I think it would have seriously detracted from the experience
