I just bought a 144 hz monitor...

I just bought a 144 hz monitor, but the thing is when I switch the refresh rate to anything higher than 60hz the screen shrinks. Can anyone help me?

your graphics card might not support a high framerate with a high resolution

CPU, GPU, Display? Is it all games or just some games?

its a gtx 1060 and it was able to handle my other monitor at 75 hz

Glad I'm a console gamer where I can just plug in and start playing. PC spends half their time troubleshooting

helo newfriend

i7 3770
gtx 1060
philips 242g5djeb
and its the whole display that shrinks

its the cable you use. switch to displayport or something not shit and it'll work fine.

OPs pic is literally fake. You can't see a visual difference between higher FPS, you only feel it.

>plug in and start playing
That'll be 14.95 a month please

shit all I have is hdmi and dvi's

Please no one reply to this outside of this post

if its dual-link dvi it should work fine, HDMI can't handle 144hz 1080p unless you use HDMI 1.3 from what I remember. just buy a displayport cable.

He's not wrong in that a higher framerate won't make your game less blurry though. Pic related is more 'accurate' in that regard

cool thanks

you guys can suck a dick

>higher framerate won't make your game less blurry
>won't make your game less blurry
Except that is wrong, and the entire reason motion blur was created in video games in the first place.

no problem, I'd check the box that your monitor came in to see if it shipped with a displayport cable, otherwise it should of at the very least came with a supported DVI one. guessing you're using HDMI currently though, yeah?

no just a really old dvi I dont think its dual link

Look at the pins, if it's missing the middle chunk it's not dual link

My ass, I bought an Xbox one recently and I had to install a game with my disc. My friend who has a PS4 said that's normal. Fug consoles tbqh.

this. You want the DVI-D cable or display-port.

>falling for the 144hz meme and having your monitor permanently shrink

Lmao

Woah.

turn on scaling either in windows or nvidias settings

is this loss?

you're a moron, OP already had his question answered by the other user mentioning him using an incompatible cable, the manufacturers site even states as much.
>Maximum resolution 1920x1080 @ 144Hz (Dual-link DVI/DP)
>Optimum resolution 1920x1080 @ 120Hz (Dual-link DVI/DP)
>Standard resolution 1920x1080 @ 60Hz (VGA, HDMI, Dual-link DVI, DP)

Op don't be retarded and buy a displayport cable, lots of monitors don't accept that sort of cable.

Check on your mobitor first if not use the cable you got with the monitor, all you need is a dual link DVi cable. Then go on nvidia control panel and change resolution and refresh rate.
